Continuing the European exploration tradition.

John O’Sullivan has has over 20 years’ experience in the automation and control sector delivering solutions to the life-science industry in Ireland. He is currently Engineering Director with Douglas Control and Automation.

He has always had a fascination with aviation and space, leading him to gain his PPL in 2003 and to study Astronomy and Planetary Science with the Open University. He was awarded a Certificate in Astronomy and Planetary Science and a Diploma in Physical Science by the OU some years ago as well as a Diploma in Project Management from the Cork Institute of Technology. He was an unsuccessful candidate for the European Space Agency (ESA) Astronaut Corps in 2008.

He has now published “In the footsteps of Columbus” (ISBN-10: 3319275607), telling the story of the ESA astronauts and their work on board the International Space Station over its first decade and how they have lived on board, helped construct the space laboratory and performed valuable scientific experiments.

ESA has contributed the Columbus science laboratory as well as the Copula, the Leonardo PMM and the ATV supply ship to the station’s infrastructure but it is the human endeavour that captures the imagination. From brief visits to six month expeditions, from spacewalking to commanding the Earth’s only outpost in space, ESA astronauts have played a vital role in the international project.

Extensive use of colour photographs from NASA and ESA depicting the experiments carried out, the phases of the ISS construction and the personal stories of the astronauts in space highlights the crucial European work on human spaceflight.

New analyser plant.

Endress+Hauser is expanding its manufacturing facility for Raman analyzers. Wholly-owned subsidiary Kaiser Optical Systems is investing US$8.6 million to develop the Ann Arbor, (MI USA) location, which will more than double in size.
“The new facility will be the core of our future Raman-spectroscopic analyzer manufacturing,” said Tim Harrison, Managing Director of Kaiser Optical Systems. The instruments, which will be deployed in both process control and laboratory environments, are designed for analyzing the composition and properties of solid, liquid and gaseous substances.

The new two-story facility, which is slated to open in mid-2017, will increase floor space from 3,500 to 8,100 square meters (38,000 to 87,000 square feet). “Our state-of-the-art manufacturing will allow us to produce higher volumes, while maintaining the high quality standards our customers demand,” he emphasized. The existing buildings will be renovated after completion of the new plant. Kaiser Optical Systems plans to create up to 50 jobs in Ann Arbor over the next few years.

PXI source measure unit.

National Instruments (NI) has announced the NI PXIe-4135 source measure unit (SMU) with a measurement sensitivity of 10 fA and voltage output up to 200 V. Engineers can use the NI PXIe-4135 SMU to measure low-current signals and take advantage of the high channel density, fast test throughput and flexibility of NI PXI SMUs for applications such as wafer-level parametric test, materials research and characterisation of low-current sensors and ICs. 
“Our in-line parametric tests require us to acquire millions of data points, often with leakage current in the picoampere range,” said Dr. Bart De Wachter, Researcher at IMEC. “The new NI PXI SMU allows us to accurately measure these low-current signals while benefiting from the speed improvements offered by the PXI platform and the flexibility of programming the system with LabVIEW.”

Engineers can use modular NI PXI SMUs to build parallel, high-channel-count systems in a compact form factor and benefit from up to 68 SMU channels in a single PXI chassis that can scale to hundreds of channels to address wafer-level reliability and parallel test. Additionally, users can increase test throughput by taking advantage of a high-speed communication bus, deterministic hardware sequencing and a digital control loop technology to custom-tune the SMU response for any device under test. They can also control the SMU response through software, which removes unnecessarily long wait times for SMU settling and offers the flexibility to help minimise overshoot and oscillations even with highly capacitive loads. 

“Increasing complexity in semiconductor devices requires us to rethink the conventional approach for research, characterisation and reliability measurements, and that’s been a key motivator for our SMU investments in PXI,” said Luke Schreier, Director of Automated Test at NI. “NI SMUs reduce test time, increase channel density, and now, offer even better measurement quality with 10 fA sensitivity.”

Delivering the ease of use expected from a box SMU, the interactive soft front panels on NI PXI SMUs can be used for making basic measurements and debugging automated applications. The driver features help files, documentation and ready-to-run example programs to assist in test code development, and includes a programming interface that works with a variety of development environments such as C, Microsoft .NET and LabVIEW system design software. Engineers can also use NI PXI SMUs with NI’s TestStand test management software, simplifying the creation and deployment of test systems in the lab or production floor.

Agreement fosters embedded and enterprise IoT devices.

Differential pressure flowmeter calibration training.

The International Society of Automation (ISA) and its Premier Strategic Partner for calibration, Beamex will co-host a free webinar 26 July 2016 on differential pressure flowmeter calibration.

Flow measurement systems can be critical to control process safety, efficiency and cost-effectiveness—especially when custody transfer and billing are involved. As a result, periodic flowmeter calibrations are needed to ensure the proper, accurate operation of many process plants and systems. Calibrating flow measurement systems in a flow laboratory, however, can be cumbersome and expensive. This webinar will bring clarity to differential pressure flowmeter calibration and provide a best-practice approach to partially calibrating flowmeters in the field.

Busy gas detection zone in November!

Gas detection has always been an important component of the WWEM events, but organiser Marcus Pattison says: “Following the publication of important new guidance on confined space entry and a new standard for toxic gas detectors, the Gas Detection Zone at WWEM 2016 will be busier than ever.

Automation in water plant!

Modular products from Delta have been selected as part of an innovative automated system installed recently at a major water treatment facility in Romania. The solution, which is based on Delta modular hardware architecture components that include PLCs, industrial Ethernet switches, HMI, motor drives and around 1400 I/O points, is providing drinking water and wastewater treatment plant automation for a population of around 30,000 people in Sebes, Petresti and Lancram in central Romania.

The installation was devised by system integrator Costruzioni Dondi SpA, and involved providing a distributed control system to principal plant processes such as pumping stations and water level monitoring equipment.

The control system architecture comprises supervisory, network and control layers. A third party SCADA system with two redundant servers providing data acquisition and archiving in the supervisory layer, as well as process control and monitoring services via remote control.

In the network layer, Delta Managed Industrial Ethernet Switches with network redundancy technology and TCP/IP fibre optics (in ring topology network) are able to deliver tolerance to any network failures with a self-recovery time of less than 20ms. Here, data access protection is provided through a firewall.

The actual control layer for local visualisation and operation is made up of various Delta products, including three new generation, modular AH500 PLCs plus I/O modules, a DOP-B 7” colour touchscreen HMI, 1400 I/O points and CP2000 sensorless vector control (SVC) drives. SVC offers timely response to load torque increase/decrease which satisfies customer requirements for load changes while enhancing motor performance and helping reduce energy consumption.

“There are many reasons we opted to use Delta products for this important installation, including their excellent cost-to-performance ratio,” explains Valentin Tuturiga, Project Manager at Costruzioni Dondi. “In addition, the scalability of the modular Delta products was important, while the development software was provided free of charge. We also liked the ease of communication with Delta’s technical support team, who were able to help us whenever we required advice.”

The benefits for the water treatment plant have been wide-reaching and include higher productivity, reduced operating costs and better utilisation of staff with dependable process automation, communication and information management. This is in addition to easy control of pumping stations and monitoring of water levels. Furthermore, fast and efficient alarm management enables engineers to react quickly to failures and malfunctions, which in turn provides better environmental compliance and monitoring.

“The implementation of this project is a complete success and now serves as a model for other water treatment plants in Romania,” concludes Mr Tuturiga. “In fact, we have recently completed a further two installations in Neamt County and just placed an order for Delta PLCs and inverters for another three new projects.”

Multi-functional CAN-to-Ethernet gateway.

The new IXXAT CAN@net NT 200 is a CAN-to-Ethernet gateway which allows users to connect CAN and Ethernet. Enables remote access
Designed for high performance in harsh environments, another common application for CAN@net NT is remote access to CAN networks via Ethernet – e.g. in wind power plants or in the manufacturing sector. CAN@net NT enables service staff to get access to plants all around the world, simplifying control, service and monitoring of CAN-based plants, reducing costs and downtime significantly.

Besides the bridge operation, linking two CAN networks via Ethernet, the CAN@net NT 200 can also be directly accessed from Windows, Linux, VxWorks or QNX based systems as well as from embedded systems, by using a simple ASCII protocol over a standard TCP/IP socket.

CAN@net NT supports all CAN baud rates from 5 kBit/s to 1 Mbit/s, as well as simultaneous use of 11 and 29 bit identifiers. The TCP/IP-based protocol ensures that no CAN messages are lost when transmitted over Ethernet. The device configuration is easily made by using a Windows configuration tool.

More variants of the CAN@net NT, with PC interface operation mode, 4 CAN channels and CAN FD support will soon be released.

Contribution recognised!

During the recent AGM of the Ireland Section of ISA the part of Read-out in publicising the third ISA Food and Pharmaceutical Division Seminar (FPID2016) was acknowledged. The Food and Pharmaceutical Division of ISA is one of the most active in the Society.

This was a held for the first time outside North America and was proclaimed as a great success with well over 200 attendees benefiting from the expert information shared over a period of two days.

The ISA Ireland section has made a substantial contribution to the ISA since 1977 providing officers for the international organisation over the years, Indeed currently there are two Section members serving, Billy Walsh and Brian Curtis. Indeed this year one of them, Brian Curtis, has been nominated for the position of President-Elect Secretary. This position is filled by election of the members and voting for this position, and other leadership positions will be announced later.

Dave O'Brien, who was Chairman of the FPID Seminar (and a future District 12 - EMEA - VP) made a presentation to Read-out's Eoin Ó Riain at the AGM. Eoin Ó Riain, himself a former ISA VP,  in turn thanked the ISA for this acknowledged and praised in turn the trojan work done by the Ireland Section members and hailed the international co-operation which led to this successful event.

Vibration filtering accelerometers and tilt switches.

Memsic has announced a unique new family of acceleration and tip-over sensor components that includes four new sensors, the MXD6240 and 41AU, MXC6244AU, MXC6245XU.

These new sensors provide tip-over and acceleration sensing in a wide range of Automotive, Industrial and Consumer applications, such as motorcycle and off-road vehicle tip-over detection, vehicle navigation and Digital SLR camera horizontal position detection.

“For years, high vibration environments have caused problems for accelerometers, forcing customers to widen the full scale range of the accelerometer to prevent clipping and move to a more powerful and expensive microprocessor capable of higher sampling rates and heavy filtering needed prevent aliasing and recover the signal of interest,” said James FennellyMemsic Product Marketing Manager. “The 624x family gives customers a new cost effective choice that works well in these high-vibration environments, and is the only accelerometer with these unique vibration-filtering properties.”

The 624x Family uses MEMSIC’s proprietary thermal accelerometer technology that utilizes heated gas molecules to sense acceleration instead of a mechanical beam structure, the transducer exhibits a natural low-pass frequency response with virtually no mechanical resonance and extremely high accuracy over a range of temperatures. This makes the devices extremely well suited to harsh and/or high vibration environments, where competing sensor solutions can exhibit false readings or other errors due to resonance.

The MXD6240 and MXD6241AU are autonomous inclination sensors with 8 built-in, pin-programmable tip-over angle thresholds from 40 to 70 degrees making them ideal for tip-over applications where no microcontroller is available. If the device orientation with respect to vertical exceeds the programmed threshold angle, the digital output changes state to alert the system to a tip-over or fall-down event. In addition to the transducer’s inherent low-pass response, an internal anti-vibration filter provides >45dB attenuation above 25Hz, and >60dB attenuation above 50Hz, setting it apart from all other tip-over sensors in the market.

The MXC6244AU and MXC6245XU are complete 2 axis I2C interface accelerometers each with 1 mg of resolution. The MXC6244AU is ±8g full scale range device. It includes the internal anti-vibration filter and the 8 angle thresholds. They are programmable through the I2C interface.

The MXC6245XU is a ±2g full scale range device and is targeted at cost sensitive applications not requiring the programmable anti-vibration filter or the 8 programmable tip-over angle thresholds. It offers 12 bits of resolution (1 mg) and has the same outstanding over temperature bias performance of typically 0.1 mg/C.

The 624x family offers a full range of functionality, features and performance to serve the diverse needs of different applications. The fully autonomous MXD6240/41 eliminate the need for a micro controller and can replace older mechanical pendulum solutions in motorcycles and off-road vehicles. The MXC6244AU can be used directly in Engine Control Units (ECUs) for the same application thereby allowing for the elimination of a separate tip-over module. For applications not requiring the enhanced vibration rejection or programmable angle thresholds, the MXC6245XU still delivers the excellent over temperature performance of the MXC6244AU at the lowest cost.

Gender changing connections!

Cliff Electronics have added two new connectors to their very successful range of XLR-Format Feedthrough Data Connectors. The new chassis mounted “gender change” sockets are available in USB2 A-to-B and B-to-A versions and allow designers to integrate USB2 networking and data feeds into professional equipment for broadcast, lighting, audio and industrial applications.

In line with the rest of the Cliff Feedthrough connector range these new sockets are designed to fit into the industry standard 24mm diameter XLR connector panel cutout simplifying panel design and manufacture and improving design aesthetics.

Both the USB A-to-B and USB B-to-A gender feedthrough sockets are finished in nickel plate and a socket sealing cover is available to prevent the ingress of dust. Hyperspectral imaging training.

Online humidity calculator.

With the online humidity calculator from E+E Elektronik, humidity-related parameters can be calculated quickly and easily. In contrast to other programs, it takes into account the measurement uncertainties. The E+E humidity calculator is now also available as a free app for mobile devices. Hoods and housings!

Harting has extended its range of Han® HPR series hoods and housings, these are designed for safety-critical applications in harsh and dynamic environments, such as railways and rail vehicles.

The Han® HPR series offers flexible, robust and secure connectivity, and the latest series are optimised for rail industry requirements. Han® 24 HPR EasyCon and Han® HPR enlarged housings make use of the proven Han-Modular® inserts and are compatible with the whole of the extensive range, including more than 50 high-current, signal and network modules in countless combinations.

The packing density of the new series is increased by a full 33 percent over previous models in the range. The new frames can handle eight Han-Modular® single modules (instead of the previous maximum of 6).

The choice of housing will depend on the application. The Han® HPR enlarged housing is distinguished by its impressively compact external dimensions. However, for applications calling for ease of assembly Han® 24 HPR EasyCon housing is first choice, with a two-part housing and abundant cable space. This housing also offers the capability to add additional customer-specified elements for strain relief or cable shield connection.

The new frames can also use the recently announced Han® HC Modular 350 earthing contacts which can help maximise previous investments and provide ease of assembly. Termination techniques available for use are axial screw, crimp and screw termination. Therefore customers can connect the PE contact with the same termination technique used for other contacts.

Emissions monitoring certification awarded.

The Gasmet Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS II e) and the portable (DX4000) FTIR analysers have been awarded an MCERTS certificate (Sira MC030014/08) demonstrating compliance with the MCERTS Performance Standards EN15267-3 & QAL 1 as defined in EN 14181. The certificate demonstrates enhanced performance across an extended range of gases.

The MCERTS certificate confirms the performance of Gasmet’s FTIR analysers for the measurement of CO, NO, SO2, NO2, N2O, HCl, NH3, H2O, HF, CO2, O2, CH4 and CHOH. However, Quantitech MD Ken Roberts says: “Customers will be particularly interested in this certificate because of the exceptionally good figures for Hydrogen Fluoride, and the data for Nitrogen Oxide and Formaldehyde are also very significant because no other FTIR is certified down to 150 mg/m3 NO in 40 vol-% water and no other instrument is approved for Formaldehyde at all.”

FTIR is an extremely popular multiparameter emissions monitoring technology; able to monitor almost any gaseous compound. This means for example, that the Gasmet CEMS II e and the DX4000 are able to provide monitoring data for up to 50 compounds simultaneously.

The technology in all of Gasmet’s FTIR analysers is essentially the same and benefits from continual product development. It is this work that has enabled the dramatic improvements that are demonstrated by the MCERTS award.

Wirelessly-monitored storage tank emergency vents.

Emerson has introduced wirelessly-monitored Enardo 2000 emergency pressure relief vents (EPRVs) that provide safety control by managing abnormally high storage tank pressures in the oil and gas, chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries.

Under normal operating conditions, an EPRV remains closed. The immediate knowledge of an open position can be vital and should warrant quick investigation. However, because these EPRVs are located on top of storage tanks, they are difficult to monitor. Site managers are increasingly looking for ways to increase safety and efficiencies.

“Though EPRVs represent the last line of defence against tank overpressure, they have largely remained unmonitored,” said Steve Attri, product manager for Emerson Process Management. “Along with the recent introduction of wirelessly-monitored pressure vacuum relief vents (PVRVs), more information is now available to quickly identify and resolve pressure issues that can impact safety and emissions.”

The new product design consists of a proximity indicator and wireless transmitter integrated with an EPRV. The proximity indicator senses movement of the emergency vent. ‘Open’ or ‘closed’ signals are received by the wireless transmitter and can be sent to a control room via a WirelessHART® gateway.

Keeping better track of complex processes.

The new MANTA widescreens from R. STAHL HMI Systems visualise even complex production systems in process plants in a clear, concise and comprehensive manner. Push Button Switches.

A range of rugged illuminated pushbutton switches from Dailywell Electronics are available from Diamond Electronics. All Dailywell products are manufactured in their own ISO 9001:2000-certified factories and carry international safety agency approvals.

Also available from Diamond Electronics is the low cost PAS series of sub-miniature pushbutton switches available in chromium or brushed nickel finish. The PAS family have a diameter of 17.50mm and single pole momentary or latching contacts and IP67 rating.  Connection is via solder lug, flying leads or through-hole soldering. The small diameter rugged design makes them ideal for control panels and arduous applications including defence. Cap colours available are white, black, red, orange, yellow, green or blue with LED illumination in white, red, yellow, green or blue.

PE module connection.

Harting has announced an additional Han-Modular® PE module for the pluggable connection of large PE (Protective Earth) cross sections of between 10 and 35 mm2.  This newly available connector complements the 50 different connector modules already available in the Han-Modular® range.

The hinged frame of the Han Modular® series already features two integrated PE connections for the 0.5-10mm² cross-section range. The new connector means that cross-sections of between 10 and 35 mm² can now also be made using a pluggable PE module. This effectively means that special cables with reduced PE are no longer necessary, and inexpensive and globally available standard cables can be employed instead.

Kevin Canham, Product Manager at Harting Ltd., said; “We’ve seen great interest in Han-Modular® from several engineers and project managers involved in off-shore wind who are looking for plug-&-play solutions that will reduce the time needed to install turbines. This addition allows the system to be used on much larger cables capable of carrying higher currents and therefore offers solutions to more of the issues faced in offshore installation projects.”

The PE module is simply mounted in the hinged frame; due to its construction it creates a secure, electrically conductive connection from the PE contact to the hinged frame and the outer housing. The protective earth connection is pre-leading and complies with standard IEC 61984.

The module is available in two different termination technologies, crimp and screw termination. The crimp version is ideal for applications in which the power contacts are currently crimped, and any crimping tools used with other Han-Modular® connectors can still be used since the crimping zone is identical across the range. The version with axial screw termination has the advantage that no special tool is required, as termination can be performed using a 4mm hexagonal torque screwdriver.

Current sensors and renewable energy.

Harting has released information for the first time about the uptake of its current sensors by the renewable energy industry.

Their current sensors are presently ensuring the continuous and reliable operation of wind turbines for major wind farm installations around the world. One of the world’s major wind turbine manufacturers is using 1000A rated Harting HCS 1000 Hall-effect sensors to monitor the input & output power feeds of the main power inverter.

The current sensors are directly linked to the main wind turbine control cabinet. The galvanically isolated, induced secondary measuring currents produced are proportionate to a primary system operating current. If they fall outside an allowed working range, e.g., sensing an over-current condition, the sensors can provide system shut-down protection to prevent operational failure.

Similar system failure prevention and condition monitoring of electrical power conversion can be also applied to the other renewable energy applications of wave, tidal and solar power.

Harting’s Current Sensors can be used with primary currents in the range of 100A to 3600A, measured with a high degree of accuracy and are available in both open and closed loop styles.

Rigidity in a linear actuator.

Thomson Industries has released an educational video that provides design engineers with best practice tips on how to increase the rigidity of a linear actuator.

“Linear actuators are designed to handle loads axially,” said Chad Carlberg, Product Line Specialist for Linear Actuators at Thomson. “One of the most common failure modes of linear actuators is side loading.” This occurs when a force exists that is perpendicular to the axis of rotation.

In the video, Carlberg describes how stroke length can affect design: “The longer the stroke length, the more susceptible an actuator is to binding or bending of the screw.” He goes on to explain how to increase the rigidity in an actuator: “A nut guide can be added for additional load support, and a design engineer could increase the ball screw diameter to add rigidity to the linear actuator.”

Gas analysis workshop report.

Gasmet Technologies organised a meeting in Lisbon, immediately prior to the CEM 2016 conference and exhibition in May, to provide delegates with an insight into the wide variety of applications for which FTIR technology is employed.
The measurement of greenhouse gases (GHGs) was a particular focus for the event, with presentations from a number of speakers outlining the advantages of simultaneous multigas analysis with Gasmet’s fixed and portable FTIR analysers. Dr Joseph Storlien from Saint John's University, Minnesota USA, described his work with portable Gasmet FTIR analyzers in the measurement of soil flux GHGs. He explained how robust field-use instruments such as the DX4040 enable faster, easier collection of monitoring data; delivering more data points than the more costly and time-consuming methods that rely on laboratory analysis.

Dr Storlien summarises his presentation in a short video that can be viewed on the Gasmet YouTube channel. This webpage also features a video demonstrating how to employ portable FTIR for soil gas analysis.

Prior to the Lisbon meeting, Gasmet received notification that its CEMS II e continuous emissions monitoring system had successfully completed EN 15267-3 testing for the analysis of low range Hydrogen Fluoride, low range Nitrous Oxide, Methane and Formaldehyde. “This means that it meets the performance specifications in European directives and also the more stringent specifications in the type approval standard EN 15267-3 for a larger number of components than any other FTIR in this market,” commented Gasmet’s Antti Heikkilä. The newly certified emissions analyzer was the highlight of Gasmet’s booth at CEM 2016, the industrial emissions monitoring conference that also took place in Lisbon. “Focusing as it does on continuous emission monitoring, CEM 2016 could not have been better timed,” says Heikkilä. “The Conference was attended by international delegates from key sectors such as Power Generation and Waste Incineration, so there was enormous interest in the new performance data for our FTIR analyzers.”

Multicomponent dynamometer.

The stationary, multicomponent dynamometer from Kistler Instruments has been designed specifically for measuring forces and moments in all three axes produced during high performance cutting processes with high accuracy and signal quality for the precise analysis of drilling, cutting and grinding at high removal rates.

The compact piezoelectric dynamometer has an extremely robust structural design combined with a wide measuring range from a few Newtons to 30kN in all three directions making the Type 9139AA suitable for demanding applications where both low and high cutting forces are developed.

The patented design has integrated temperature compensation which eliminates the effect of heat generated during the cutting process to minimise signal drift. This ensures that forces generated by processes that create large amounts of heat may be measured with great accuracy. A high natural frequency was a key issue in Kistler's development work and extensive FEM analyses were carried out to optimize the design and structure so that natural frequencies of about 3 kHz are achieved despite the dynamometer's size. This ensures that the measurement signals generated by the cutting processes are captured accurately, even at high tooth passing frequencies.

The large number of threaded holes simplify mounting workpieces on the dynamometer whilst the widely used Fischer flange connector concept with the same pin configuration as other Kistler stationary dynamometers make it simple to change the measuring platform using the existing cables and charge amplifiers. The dynamometer is corrosion-resistant and protected against penetration by splashing water or cutting fluid to IP67 when used with the appropriate connecting cable. The Type 5070A multi-channel charge amplifier is especially suited to interface with the dynamometer, although other charge amplifiers with suitable operating parameters may also be used.

Ken has over 35 years of experience in the monitoring instrumentation sector, beginning in 1981 as a junior service engineer and progressing rapidly to senior management positions. His career to-date has included 11 years as Managing Director of a British gas detection and emissions monitoring business, which experienced high levels of growth under his guidance.

Looking forward, Ken says: “As a subsidiary of Gasmet, FTIR analysers will be a key focus for Quantitech, however, we will also offer an important range of other technologies and systems as part of our strategy to help customers demonstrate regulatory compliance, improve process efficiency, and protect health, safety and the environment.”

Gas Detection Controller.

The new MX 32 alarm and control system is now available from Tyco Gas & Flame Detection.

Designed to meet SIL1 requirements, the new MX 32 is a compact, low-profile controller that continuously monitors gas detection. It uses the same platform as the MX 43 that has already proven to be a very high performing and reliable controller.

The new MX 32 manages both digital lines and analog channels and covers all needs for a wide variety of gas monitoring applications. Its digital technology allows up to 8 detectors to be distributed on two lines for increased savings. The unit allows two inputs for Wheatstone bridge sensors.
