Wireless area gas monitor approved to INMETRO standards.

The BM25 & BM 25 Wireless area gas monitor, from Tyco Gas & Flame Detection, have been INMETRO* approved as per governmental regulation n°179-2010 and has received certification N°15.0200 X.

The BM 25 packs the benefits of a fixed system area monitor into a rugged, user-friendly and transportable instrument. It was designed to detect one to five gases for mobile or temporary work applications, team protection, area surveillance, or places where fixed detection systems are not suitable. The Wireless version allows several BM 25 devices to communicate on the same network or to send information wirelessly to a controller.

Less than 7 kilos, the BM 25 is easily transportable and its robustness makes it resistant to harsh environments. The monitor emits a powerful audible alarm of 103 dB @ 1m and has an ultra-bright flashing signal viewable at 360°. The BM 25 Wireless version allows an alarm transfer up to 1 km line of sight with the network. With 170 hours autonomy, the BM 25 allows to work longer in dangerous area.

* INMETRO The National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology was created by Federal law in December, 1973, to support Brazilian enterprises, to increase their productivity and the quality of goods and services.

Gas detector approved to SIL2.

Tyco Gas & Flame Detection (Tyco GFD) is pleased to announce that the DG-TT7-S H2S gas detector with Metal Oxide Semiconductor (MOS) sensor underwent stringent functional safety assessments by an external certification body and is now SIL 2 approved.

The DG-TT7-S is solid-state metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) gas detectors used mainly for the detection of hydrogen sulphide (H2S) in arid locations having air present or in locations with continuous H2S background. The sensor specifies a wider continuous operating temperature range than the standard electrochemical sensors up to +65 °C.

The device supports HART 7 protocol option for full configuration and diagnostics over non-proprietary interface.

The MultiTox DG-TT7-S features on board relays, plug and play sensors and a high visible display that changes colour depending on the status mode.

Hydrogen sensor.

The Meridian Hydrogen sensor from Tyco Gas & Flame Detection comes standard with two user selectable gas ranges: 4% by Volume or 1% by Volume, and is ideal for Hydrogen detection in environments where Catalytic bead sensor use is impractical, or available power is limited.

This new sensor follows other available Meridian sensor features including: Range Invariant calibration, true Hot Swap replacement, and the ability to calibrate in the lab and put it quickly into operation in the field. The sensors employ an electrochemical sensing element that needs recalibration just once every three months for optimum performance.

Gas detector provids natural gas discrimination.

Tyco Gas & Flame Detection has launched a new portable gas detection device. The Gasurveyor 700 (GS700) is a high-performance IR detector with a user-friendly interface that is suitable for all gas utility applications.

Through its natural gas discrimination application, the GS700 quickly determines if the source of gas leaks is from a utility pipeline, saving valuable time and reducing excavation costs. The GS700 also ensures compliance through intelligent data-logging and GPS mapping, simplifying data collection and allowing managers to make better decisions from tracking data reports. The portable functionality of the GS700, at only 1.4kg (3lbs), combined with its notable durability, enables workers to manoeuvre the device in demanding environments and harsh conditions.

The GS700 promises flexible configuration as it can be customised to meet specific application and user requirements and can cater to multiple detection needs, without alienating performance. Application modes include: Gas Leak Outdoors, Gas Leak Indoors, Purge, Search, Barhole and Confined Space. Each application mode provides fast and accurate measurements and allows gas leaks to be located quickly, ensuring gas utilities are best equipped to protect life and safeguard property.

Gas detector has extended life!

The PS200 portable gas detector now available from Tyco Gas & Flame Detection has a new catalytic bead sensor option that provides an increased battery life of up to 80 hours in diffusion mode and 20 hours in pump mode.

Both lightweight and durable, the instrument is ideal for protection in hotworks and confined space applications. The PS200 monitors and displays up to 4 hazardous gas conditions simultaneously, detecting all possible combinations of Methane, Oxygen, Carbon Monoxide, Hydrogen Sulfide, and a wide range of flammable gases.

Operator interface and calibration are intuitive and easy by toggling between simple one-button functions. During normal operation the large LCD screen displays battery life and real-time gas concentrations, but when a hazardous condition occurs users are alerted by three alarm functions: vibration, red flashing LEDs, and audible buzzer.

To ensure the highest level of personal safety, the PS200 is also fitted with an optional man down/motion sensor that activates alarms if the instrument is not moved within a pre-set time. Other features include an optional built in remote sampling pump for confined space entry, manual backlight screen for poor lighting conditions, a customized user identification code setup, calibration due date display and standard datalogging that can be downloaded with a USB connection to a computer. Accessory components available separately include an Auto Bump and Calibration Station, a 5-instrument multi-charger and an assortment of colored boots/instrument covers.
