Busy gas detection zone in November!

Gas detection has always been an important component of the WWEM events, but organiser Marcus Pattison says: “Following the publication of important new guidance on confined space entry and a new standard for toxic gas detectors, the Gas Detection Zone at WWEM 2016 will be busier than ever.

“Past events have shown that the Gas Detection Zone is hugely popular with health & safety managers and staff that have to work in confined spaces or areas where there is a possibility of exposure to toxic or explosive dusts and gases.”

WWEM 2016 is scheduled for Telford (GB) on 2nd and 3rd November, incorporating Conferences, Workshops and an Exhibition covering water, wastewater and environmental monitoring. Attracting delegates from around the world, the WWEM events have become important diary dates for anyone with a professional interest in environmental and occupational safety testing and monitoring.

The Council of Gas Detection & Environmental Monitoring (CoGDEM) is a WWEM partner. CoGDEM Director Leigh Greenham says: “We are delighted to once again participate in the development of the hugely popular WWEM Gas Detection Zone, which will provide visitors with the chance to see innovative new gas detection instruments; some of which will be displayed for the first time.

“WWEM 2016 will also provide an opportunity for visitors to attend free workshops and seminars which will be relevant for engineers and managers from utilities and from processing and manufacturing industries. Visitors to the Gas Detection Zone will improve their knowledge of the latest standards, guidance and technologies relating to all forms of gas detection. Subjects covered will include: confined space entry; new standards and guidance for toxic gas detectors; the selection of apparatus; new gas sensor development; all complimented by a variety of topical case studies.”

Tough going at W&W show

Marcus Pattison, one of the organisers of WWEM 2010 (Telford GB 10th–11th November) has issued a warning to visitors, urging them to plan their time at the event carefully. He says, "In 2008 a number of visitors found that they were unable to visit all of the Conference sessions and free Workshops that were of interest during a one day visit. To make matters worse, we have packed even more into the 2010 event, so visitors are going to have to plan their time very carefully and possibly consider coming on both days."

The world's largest environmental monitoring event this year, it will offer visitors a choice of over 70 free walk-in, walk-out Workshops to choose from. 12 of these have been organised by the Council of Gas Detection and Environmental Monitoring (CoGDEM) and will focus on issues such as detection technology, sampling, calibration, interpretation of data and the benefits to be gained from monitoring toxic, combustible or explosive gases.

An exhibition will run on both days of the event featuring over 120 of the world's leading providers of environmental monitoring equipment and services. Many of the exhibitors will be launching new products at the event and with so much new information available, Marcus Pattison is warning visitors that WWEM 2010 "is going to be hard work!"

Meet the buyers at W & WW show

WWEM 2010 to feature UKTI ‘Meet the Buyer’ event

The organisers of WWEM 2010, the world’s largest environmental monitoring event, have announced the involvement of the UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and a number of other leading industry organisations at this year’s event.

The UKTI, along with British Water, The Institute of Water, The Council of Gas Detection and Environmental Monitoring (CoGDEM) and Sensors for Water Interest Group (SWIG) will all be participating at WWEM 2010 on 10th and 11th November at the Telford International Centre (GB).

Other organisations involved include PROFIBUS, the Water Monitoring Association (WMA) and the Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM).

The UKTI will supply experts from around Europe who are taking part in two key activities that will support an international dimension to the show. These include a ‘Meet the International Buyer Event’, where exhibitors will have access to 24 buyers from across Europe and a workshop titled ‘Developing Your International Business’.

UKTI Commercial Officers will also advise on a range of topics including political/economic overview for countries including Portugal, Turkey and Russia, niche sector opportunities and advice on market entry.

David Connolly, Environment & Water Team Project Manager for Europe at UKTI, said: “Our events will give visitors the unique opportunity to receive a one-to-one briefing from UKTI, covering political, economic and water industry specific opportunities. Delegates will also be able to learn about the wide range of planned UKTI activities both here and overseas that aim to help promote UK expertise overseas and assist companies in taking advantage of the opportunities these markets offer.”

WWEM organiser Marcus Pattison added: “The reputation of the WWEM events has grown significantly on both a national and international level, as demonstrated by the involvement this year of these organisations. WWEM 2010 will provide the perfect opportunity for anyone with a professional interest in testing and monitoring to gather and exchange the latest information on technologies, techniques and regulations.”
The event will also see a host of Conference presentations providing information on the latest regulations affecting process and effluent monitoring with authoritative speakers from the Environment Agency, ABB, SIRA, and UKAS.
