1st Mobile Machine Control (MMC) conference
The first MMC conference organized by the nonprofit CAN in Automation (CiA) users’ and manufacturers’ group was participated by about 80 engineers. The two-days event took place n Nuremberg (D) and was focused on technical presentations discussing the control of mobile machines in very detail. The conference sponsored by Hirschmann, Intercontrol, STW, Softing Automotive, and Sontheim was accompanied by tabletop exhibition.
The conference started with an interesting paper from TÜV Rhineland about the assessment of safety functions of lignite mining equipment. Speakers from Germany, Finland, France, Italy, USA, and Turkey gave deep in-sight looks into different aspects of controlling mobile machine. Of course, functional safety was a very important topic in several speeches. The 150-pages conference proceedings can be bought from CiA office in Germany (@: €65).
The organizers plan to schedule the next MMC in 2015. “We were very satisfied,as were most of the attendees, with the high quality of the papers,” said Holger Zeltwanger , CiA Managing Director. “But we expected a larger number of participants.”
