A one half-day workshop/meeting will be held on Wednesday, 28 April 2010 at the University of Strathclyde sponsored by the IEEE UK & Republic of Ireland (UKRI) Section: Industry Applications Society (IAS) Chapter and jointly organised by the Universities of Strathclyde and Stirling and the Applied Control Technology Consortium (ACTC) on the problems that transport delays cause in a range of applications and particularly those in the process industries.
The meeting will begin with a buffet lunch so that introductions can be effected which will be followed by an overview provided by the past president of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) and Chairman of the IFAC World Congress, Professor Pedro Albertos. There will then be a number of contributions from both academia and industry with a focus on practical methods of coping with transport delays in applications ranging from the petrochemicals industry to metal processing.
The meeting will conclude with a short Panel Discussion (Chaired by Professor Pedro Albertos) on the way forward in this challenging area.
