Building on its well established relationship with motor racing, from grand prix to touring cars, Kistler Instruments has introduced a high quality, miniature piezoresistive pressure transmitter. The new sensor has an overall length of 40.8 mm, weighs only 13.3 grams and may be specified with either flying leads or a high quality LEMO connector.
Designed to withstand the high vibration generated by current motor sport applications, the sensor has M6 mounting to simplify installation where space is limited.
Main applications will be for pressure and temperature measurements in gearboxes, steering systems, braking systems, water and oil circuits, and hydraulic systems where very high reliability is a paramount requirement.
The new Type 4080 pressure transmitter is available for pressure ranges of 5, 10, 20, 130 and 250 bar at temperatures from -40 to +150°Celsius with temperature compensation for the range +25 to + 125°Celsius. The integrated signal amplifier has an output signal of 0.2 to 4.4 V for pressure and 1.8 to 3.6 V for temperature. The supply voltage can vary from 8 to 16 V making the transmitter ideal for motor racing applications.
Main applications for racing are pressure and temperature measurements in gearboxes, steering systems, braking systems, water and oil circuits, and hydraulic systems.
