Cost effective means of measuring roller gap separation

The measurement of the position of the roll bearing on the inside rollers is an essential requirement in a number of precision manufacturing processes. It is a measurement task that can be achieved simply and cost-effectively using an RDP E725 digital indicator in combination with an LVDT.

RDP Electronics's amplifier indicator can be set to display the average gap and run out across the width of the roller. A special feature of the E725 allows the transducers to be re-zeroed without actually drawing the rollers together. Typically this is achieved by using a 1mm spacer and programming the E725 when pressing the zero button to read 1mm rather than zero.
