Certification for data centres.

With the Data Center Expert 700 (DCX™ 700) from Viavi Solutions, Laser Components now offers a fast, reliable, and highly automated solution for Tier 1 certification in modern data centres. The system tests up to 24 fibers in approximately one second and, for the first time, can be adapted to virtually all connector types.

Certification for video testing.

Anritsu's receiver test (SINK Test) solution for latest DisplayPort 2.1 standard has been certified by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA), the international standards organisation. Combining Anritsu's Signal Quality Analyzer-R MP1900A with automation software from Granite River Labs (GRL) or Teledyne LeCroy achieves automated verification of data transmission quality and calibration.

DisplayPort 2.1 enables the digital transmission of high-definition and high-refresh-rate video, such as 8K. The standard is still being developed. Recently, the integration of the USB Type-C specifications has led to a significant expansion in the versatility of DisplayPort 2.1 and its adoption across a wide range of applications. However, a challenge facing the development of products that comply with the new standard is that manually verifying transmission signal quality and calibrating are time-consuming due to the complexity of the test equipment settings and the lengthy configuration and test procedures. 

This solution improves development efficiency and ensures the quality of video data transmission by automating the testing and calibration processes.

High power Redundant Power Supply.

World’s first to achieve new 80 PLUS® Ruby Certification.

Delta's 5,500W 19-inch (1RU) and ORv3 21-inch (1OU) high-power redundant power supplies for AI servers have recently become the world’s first to attain the industry’s highest energy efficiency certification 80 PLUS® Ruby due to their groundbreaking peak efficiency as high as 97.5%*, and a power factor of 0.99 under full load. Delta has drawn upon its superior prowess in soft-switching technology and advanced circuit topology, while also applying third-generation power semiconductor technology to not only surpass the stringent requirements of the 80 PLUS Ruby certification, but also to deliver a 59% increase in power density at 51W/inch³. This 80 PLUS Ruby further cements Delta's technology development.

80 PLUS is a well-known international power supply efficiency standard for being significantly higher than most others that many standard power supply unites are applying. It stipulates requirements for power supplies to reach energy efficiency of at least 80% across various operating stages and is also recognized by both the energy-saving standard ENERGY STAR® of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the EU certification. Over the past 20 years, 80 PLUS has set six certification levels for internal power supply products, with the highest being Titanium. In January 2025, the Ruby certification was launched. Regarding the peak power efficiency achieved by redundant power supplies under a 50% load condition, the Titanium standard requires 96%, while the Ruby standard requires 96.5% and a power factor (PF) of at least 0.96. Consequently, Ruby has now replaced Titanium and became the highest tier.

With the rapid growth of AI, the demand for power supply systems in data centers is becoming increasingly high to handle large amounts of data and complex computations. Delta’s power solutions are responding to the market trends by ceaselessly advancing the boundaries of power products. Currently, this high-end 5,500W server redundant power supply is designed for AI data centers, offering dual 19-inch (1RU) and 21-inch (1OU) ORV3 standard rack configurations. It supports an input voltage range from 200V to 277V and provides an output power of 5,500W, with an overall conversion efficiency of up to 97.5%. According to the 80 PLUS testing report, this product achieves a power factor of 0.99 under full load, which is exceedingly close to the ideal value of 1, proving that most of the electrical energy is efficiently transformed into the computational power required by the data center while minimizing energy losses.

In regards to design, this 5,500W server redundant power supply leverages Delta’s soft-switching technology and an advanced circuit topology in the Power Factor Correction (PFC) stage, further enhancing overall power efficiency, thermal performance, and optimal conversion. In addition, third-generation semiconductor power devices, such as SiC or GaN, are employed in this advanced power supply, and their superior high-efficiency switching characteristics facilitate the system to operate at higher frequencies, boosting high power density. Compared to the previous generation 3,000W redundant power supply with a power density of 32W/inch³, the power density of the current 5,500W unit has augmented by nearly 59%, reaching 51W/inch³.

Industry-first Device Certificate Management.

The launch of both AEOS Certificate Management and Device Certificate Management within Nedap's on-premises access control system, AEOS, has been announced. This groundbreaking feature positions AEOS as the first access control system to implement certificate management from server to reader, setting a new standard in the industry.

The integration of Certificate Management into AEOS enhances the system's security by enabling the use of unique digital certificates to establish secure, encrypted communication across all AEOS system components (including the server, controllers, and access readers). This advancement ensures encrypted communication throughout the entire access control infrastructure, significantly reducing the risk of cyber threats and unauthorized access.

Test cases achieve GCF validation.

Full support for 5G and LTE Next Generation eCall (NGeCall) validated test cases on Anritsu's 5G NR Mobile Device Test Platform ME7834NR enabling GCF certification* has been announced.

eCall is a European initiative designed to provide rapid assistance to motorists involved in accidents. It uses an In-Vehicle System (IVS) equipped with sensors that, when triggered (e.g., by airbag deployment), automatically place an emergency call to the pan-European Emergency Number 112. Along with the voice call, essential data such as location, passenger count, and vehicle direction is sent to the PSAP. Since March 31, 2018, all new M1 (passenger cars) and N1 (light-duty) vehicles sold in the EU must be equipped with eCall capability.

Mobile networks operators (MNOs) are phasing out 2G/3G networks and transitioning to 4G/5G networks built on IMS. Consequently, there is a growing need for a harmonized shift, to NGeCall, which also operated on IMS.

“3GPP Release 14 for LTE and Release 16 for 5G, the next stages for eCall technologies, enable the automotive industry to certify NGeCall test solutions to deliver eCall modules that incorporate new NGeCall functions,” said Keiji Kameda, General Manager of Mobile Solutions Division at Anritsu Corporation The conformance tests are defined by 3GPP in TS 34.229-5 for 5G and TS 34.229-1 for LTE, aligned with the core requirements in TS 24.229. These tests have been submitted by Anritsu to 3GPP’s Radio Access Network Working Group 5 (RAN WG5) and validated by GCF.

The 5G NR Mobile Device Test Platform ME7834NR is registered as Test Platform 251 with both the GCF and PTCRB.
This platform supports 3GPP-based Protocol Conformance Test (PCT) and Carrier Acceptance Testing (CAT) of mobile devices incorporating Multiple Radio Access Technologies. It covers 5G NR in both Standalone and Non-Standalone modes, along with LTE, LTE-Advanced, LTE-A Pro, W-CDMA and now NTN. When paired with Anritsu’s OTA RF chamber MA8171A and RF converters, the ME7834NR supports testing in sub-6 GHz and millimeter wave (mmWave) 5G NR frequency bands.

Product carbon reduction certified.

TÜV Rheinland has launched a new sustainability certification, Product Carbon Reduction, for electronic products. Therefore, the certification company evaluates the greenhouse gas emissions of two generations of an electronic product over its entire life cycle - from "cradle to grave" - from manufacturing and transport to use and disposal. The certification is based on internationally recognized standards. Samsung is to be the first electronics company to obtain "Product Carbon Reduction" certificate for several TVs.

As the world grapples with the challenge of global warming, reducing or even neutralizing greenhouse gas emissions has become a critical task. Electronic and electrical products, throughout their life cycle – from production, manufacture, use, to recycling – generate CO2 emissions.

"With the "Product carbon reduction' mark from TÜV Rheinland, manufacturers such as Samsung can provide consumers with clear and transparent sustainability guidance," says Frank Holzmann, Global Vice President of TÜV Rheinland Business Field Electrical. "Certified Companies are proactively demonstrating that they meet the increasing requirements for sustainable products, from production to operation, reuse and disposal."

The scope of product carbon reduction includes product similarity analysis, carbon reduction amount or percentage, reduction measure effectiveness analysis and reduction measure sensitivity analysis. Furthermore, TÜV Rheinland analyzes the following categories: raw materials, manufacturing, transportation, use, recycling. The idea is to recognize the efforts made by enterprises in the field of product reduction through a more transparent way on the basis of internationally recognized ISO 14067, ISO 14064-3 and TÜV Rheinland standard 2 PfG Q2880/09.23. In the case of Samsung, TÜV Rheinland has audited and evaluated the greenhouse gas emissions of two generations of eight series of TV products throughout their entire life cycle. Device certification and edge compatibility.

Sensor for flow in rivers, streams etc certified.

NIVUS initially demonstrated a prototype NivuFlow Stick in 2018, and received its first order for a commercial product in 2020. This was a response to the demand for a simple but accurate tool for measuring discharge flow rates in streams, rivers and channels. The company has just announcecd that their NivuFlow Stick has received an independent calibration certificate from METAS, the Federal Institute of Metrology in Switzerland.

“This is a significant achievement,”
explains Christian Koch, Head of Product Management at NIVUS. “The calibration certificate resulted from a series of stringent tests, and follows the award of a similar verification certificate from NIWA, the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research in New Zealand.

“We already have regulatory customers as well as water companies, consultancies, researchers and academia, but third-party verification will provide users with the assurance that they can now measure flow quickly, easily and accurately; confident in the knowledge that they are using an accurate, independently tested device.”

The NivuFlow Stick is a simple to use, portable instrument for fast, accurate flow velocity measurements utilising the ultrasonic cross-correlation measurement principle. In contrast with traditional methods, this technology is able to measure water velocities at different water depths simultaneously and with high resolution. As a result, even relatively unskilled operators are able to derive an accurate flow velocity curve quickly and easily.

Simple, intuitive operating procedures are driven via smartphone or tablet, and data are both displayed in real-time and shared on-site via WLAN. Importantly, any deviations in measurement quality by the NivuFlow Stick are also displayed, and this quality indication is stored with the data.

The system contains no wearing parts and is maintenance-free, and with lightweight components, handling in the water is effortless and safe. The NivuFlow Stick is therefore ideal for discharge measurements in streams and small rivers, as well as for checking the accuracy of fixed flow monitoring equipment.

Summarising, Christian Koch says: “The speed and simplicity of the NivuFlow Stick offer major advantages to customers looking to migrate their instruments from more traditional methods such as ADCP and acoustic doppler. The new verification certificates will therefore provide users with the assurance that they can exploit the benefits, whilst also achieving the required levels of accuracy.”

Valve certified for Hydrogen applications.

Bureau Veritas Italia approval has been granted for Emerson's BM6X Series Slam-Shut valve for use in applications with up to 100% hydrogen and pressures up to 100 bar was completed in December 2022. The certification was achieved as a result of the commitment of Emerson and Bureau Veritas Italia to ensure suitable products are available for use in new hydrogen infrastructure. The certification granted to the Emerson BM6X Series Slam-Shut valve confirms the verification of material suitability, based on internal and external seal tests performed at the Emerson production plant in Castel Maggiore, Bologna, Italy.

Emerson is working with its customers to develop a hydrogen ecosystem, starting with research and innovation, and scaling up production and transportation. These efforts are an important focus of the European Union’s strategy on hydrogen, adopted in 2020, and of similar efforts in other countries and regions worldwide. Certifying key components, such as the Emerson BM6X Series Slam-Shut valve, is a critical step for these types of projects.

“The Bureau Veritas procedure, relating to the issue of Type Approval for hydrogen-operated actuators and valves, defines the audit process for the issue, maintenance and renewal of the certification for actuators and valves used with hydrogen or hydrogen mixtures,” says Giuseppe Signoretta, hydrogen technical manager, Bureau Veritas.

“This procedure supports the certification of products ready to be used in the hydrogen field, and it provides a suitable tool for the concrete implementation of the European plans for energy independence and reduction of CO2 emissions. The collaboration between Emerson and Bureau Veritas demonstrates a concrete commitment to offer suitable and safe products for natural gas distribution networks,” adds Signoretta.

“To ensure product quality, safety and conformity, Emerson is collaborating with the testing and certification agency Bureau Veritas Italia, and it has developed internal procedures to assess the suitability of products to be used in gas infrastructure applications,” said Oscar Bressan, standardisation and product engineer with Emerson’s pressure management research and development team.

“The Emerson procedures describe the requirements, tests and inspection methods for metallic and non-metallic materials, as well as internal and external sealing necessary to use pressure control products in contact with natural gas and blended hydrogen, or pure hydrogen. After the first certification obtained for the Emerson BM6X Series Slam-Shut valve, Emerson will continue to certify other equipment used in hydrogen infrastructure to ensure sustainability and reliability for this rapidly developing market,” concludes Bressan.

The Emerson BM6X Series Slam-Shut valve has multiple applications throughout gas transmission networks, regulating stations and end use infrastructure. For example, natural gas transmission and distribution companies can blend hydrogen into their distribution systems, reducing emissions when the blended mixture of hydrogen and natural gas is burned in homes for cooking, heating and other uses. Industrial end users can reduce emissions by using a mix of hydrogen and natural gas as fuel for turbines used for power generation.

Protected from cyber attack!

Anglia Components has achieved Cyber Essentials certification confirming the quality and robustness of its IT systems. The British government-backed scheme provides independent validation of firms’ defences against common cyber-attacks. It also demonstrates a commitment to cyber-security.

Cyber Essentials was launched by Britain's National Cyber Security Centre. It is designed to help businesses of any type or size protect themselves from the most common types of cyber-attack, such as ransomware, password guessing and network attacks. The scheme’s requirements are divided into five core themes: firewalls; secure configuration; user access control; malware protection and security update management. The assessment covers the entirety of a business’s IT infrastructure, including devices that are used for working remotely. Businesses that meet the criteria are added to a listed directory of certified organisations.

It is planned that the requirements for businesses will evolve to meet the ever-changing challenges of cyber-security.

Certified for industrial cybersecurity.

AESSEAL has achieved certification for Information Security Management System (ISMS) ISO 27001, one of the most widely recognised international standards for industrial supply chain security.

This manufacturer of mechanical seals and support systems completed the ISMS accreditation process despite the challenges presented by the Covid-19 lockdown, which meant all external auditing had to be completed remotely. ISO 27001 will help AESSEAL colleagues to ensure the secure management of the information, business processes, information systems and facilities that support its products and services.

Certification for Cyber Hardening.

Bedrock Automation has received Achilles® Level 2 certification from GE Digital (Wurldtech) on its OSA Remote controller.

The OSA Remote delivers the intrinsic cyber security protection for which Bedrock Automation is known in a compact unit that provides powerful PLC and SCADA RTU functionality for monitoring and control of up to 20 universal I/0, as well as serial and industrial Ethernet I/O. The Achilles certification provides users with greater assurance that they can implement their open applications remotely, secure from cyber threats.

“The demand for a secure remote controller is high – especially from the oil and gas market and water treatment plants needing to implement SCADA RTU and PLC applications. Achilles Level 2 provides independent validation of our unique approach to intrinsic cyber hardening,” according to  Bedrock Automation Founder and CEO, Albert Rooyakkers.

Like all Bedrock products, the compact OSA Remote embeds more than 30 cyber security technologies, including public key infrastructure (PKI) with secure keys inserted at birth, and advanced authentication and encryption capabilities for SCADA. All of this is in a system device that fits in the palm of the hand and at prices often below conventional PLCs or RTUs.

The Achilles Test Platform helps manufacturers of mission critical infrastructure solutions ensure that their products are not vulnerable to cyberattacks. It tests communications robustness of networks and operational parameters, identifying vulnerabilities and reproducing, isolating and resolving faults that cause them. The test battery is based on extensive experience in working with critical infrastructure systems and with manufacturers of devices that automate them to verify and validate performance under real-world conditions, such as denial of service (DoS) attacks.

Speaking the language of intelligent buildings!

The BACnet Testing Laboratories (BTL),  have confirmed that the automation software zenon by Copa-Data complies with the criteria of the BACnet standard. Entry onto the international list of products conforming with the standard and receipt of the BTL certificate affirm the reliable communication between zenon and other systems and devices in building automation.

Each building is equipped with technology that fulfills a variety of tasks. The spectrum here ranges from heating, air conditioning, ventilation and sanitary systems to lighting management, lift monitoring, energy management or access control. To make sure that the different technologies can exchange data with each other, they need to speak the same language. BACnet, the international communications protocol, is primarily used for networks in building automation. To guarantee reliable and flexible communication in zenon projects in the area of building automation, COPA-DATA developed the native BACnetNG driver about ten years ago.

Markus Wintersteller, Technical Product Manager at Copa-Data, explained: “Our zenon BACnet driver had been communicating flawlessly, yet it did not comply with any profile description in terms of the BACnet standard. Along with increasing expectations from modern buildings and the growing trend in smart buildings, the BACnet protocol has become more and more important. The certification of zenon BACnet connectivity is a fundamental factor for us to be independent in this area as well.”

The international BTL Listing attests that zenon 8.00 complies with the BACnet Operator Workstation Profile, or B-OWS Profile for short, of the ANSI (American National Standards Institute)/ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) standard 135-2012. To comply with one of the three profiles for user interfaces, products must meet certain criteria, such as setting values. On the basis of a profile, handlers can better classify the capabilities of a system or device in the BACnet environment.

Lewis Williams, Technical Consultant at COPA-DATA, adds: “zenon was carefully examined on the basis of the BACnet test framework outlined by the independent inspection body MBS GmbH from Germany. In the process, zenon standard functionality such as the equipment model has been of great benefit; it brought advantages to the tests and accelerated them. We want to provide our customers with top flexibility and reliability in their projects. Therefore, we had already developed our own BACnet stack early on. We are pleased to know that an independent laboratory has rewarded our efforts with a positive test report, achieving a certificate and entry into the BTL Listing.”

Stars in security!

Endress+Hauser has become the first industrial company to obtain the StarAudit certification. The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) offering of the measurement instrumentation specialist was given four-star certification by EuroCloud. Within the framework of the certification, all areas that are relevant for the collection of data in cloud-based applications were reviewed.

The StarAudit certificate confirms that web-based services are based on specific security standards and have been correspondingly validated. This offers a traceable quality assessment of cloud services through a transparent and reliable certification process. The aim is to strengthen the trust of customers and users in cloud services. The certificate was officially handed over in Zurich (CH) in April.

Through digital products and services, Endress+Hauser helps its customers to optimize processes and thus increase the efficiency of their plants. With the web-application Analytics all field devices in a plant, including those from third parties, can be quickly cataloged and analyzed. This considerably reduces the time required for an installed base inventory.

Level 2 Security Development Lifecycle Assurance certification.

The Calgary, Alberta (CDN) and Lake Forest, (CA USA) process automation product development centers of Schneider Electric have been certified by exida, the globally recognized ISO 17065 certification body.

Complementing exida’s first certificate for Security Development Lifecycle Assurance (SDLA), awarded to three of Schneider Electric’s product development centers in 2016, Schneider Electric is also the process automation industry’s first company to receive an ISASecure SDLA Level Two compliance certification, awarded to its Calgary location.

Based on rigorous assessments during the product development lifecycle, ISASecure SDLA certifications validate that the Schneider Electric solutions developed at certified centers maintain robust security capabilities, even as the products are upgraded and maintained over their lifespans. The ISASecure SDLA certification specifications are set by the ISA Security Compliance Institute (ISCI) based upon the ISA/IEC 62443 international cybersecurity standards. ISCI is the leading not-for-profit automation controls industry consortium dedicated to accelerating industry-wide cybersecurity improvement for industrial automation and control systems (IACS).

The remote connectivity solution, eWON Talk2M, from HMS Industrial Networks, is now ISECOM STAR security certified.

The eWON Talk2M remote connectivity service is a key element in the eWON remote solutions from HMS Industrial Networks. Talk2M offers users a secure remote connection to industrial equipment via eWON industrial routers. Accordingly, Talk2M is regularly tested by independent companies to maintain a high security level in today’s fast-evolving technology environment.

HMS now announces that Talk2M has become ISECOM STAR certified after passing an assessment performed by the company admeritia GmbH, a vendor-independent German cybersecurity company specialized in IT Security assessment (ethical hacking) and KPI-based security measurement. The assessment was done through an OSSTMM 3.0 and OWASP audit process which included penetration tests of Talk2M targeting the cloud based infrastructure.

Award for sustainable business processes.

Endress+Hauser has received a Gold Recognition Level certificate in the EcoVadis audit, improving on the previous year’s result with 66 points. The result illustrates the high importance Endress+Hauser places on its corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the structured, foresighted approach it takes.
