Magnetostrictive displacement transducers prove popular for impact testing
Impact testing of safety products such as crash helmets, calls for accurate measurement of displacement which is achieved by using transducers such as LVDTs and magnetostrictive devices.
An impact test determines the energy absorbed in fracturing a test piece at high velocity and this usually involves a large range of displacement.
