Handheld indicator.

"Precision on the move: one handheld device, infinite applications."

The DA110 Handheld Indicator supports engineers working within demanding industrial and metrological environments. This instrument from HBK is a portable device which simplifies complex set ups and helps maintain measurement accuracy across diverse systems.

The tool has been designed to address these challenges by providing a complete, versatile and configurable measurement chain. Engineered to seamlessly integrate with a wide variety of strain gauge sensors (full bridge, 4- or 6-wire, 80 to 5000 Ω) and transducers - including high-precision force, torque and weighing sensors – it transforms how mobile calibration, material testing, and asset monitoring are performed. Built-in Transducer Electronic Data Sheet (TEDS) enables immediate sensor recognition, allowing technicians to switch between distinct measurement tasks instantly.

By bringing laboratory-grade precision directly to the field, the indicator offers several operational advantages, starting with standards-compliant traceability. The system can be calibrated by the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) to operate as a fully traceable reference instrument within an organisation's existing calibration chain, ensuring audit-ready documentation, suitable for high-end reference and service use.

Traceability is also supported by exceptional technical capability - with an accuracy class of up to 0.01% of full scale at a 4.8 kHz sample rate, as well as high-speed sampling up to 19.2 kHz with 0.1% accuracy to capture rapid, dynamic force profiles reliably.

D110 simplifies the calibration of industrial machinery and complex weighing systems, enabling field technicians to perform precise, repeatable verification directly on stamping and forming presses, hydraulic workshop presses, press brakes, assembly machines and torque verification systems, without the need for expensive, time-consuming stationary lab setups.

When paired with industrial load cells, the device serves as a mobile reference system to verify weighing installations in silos, tanks and filling stations. This allows users to test individual load cells, verify summed signals and detect mechanical drift or settling, ensuring billing compliance and improving material balance control, without interrupting standard plant workflows.

Multi-parameter handheld device.

Multi-parameter handheld device and lab pH electrode can be used for applications in laboratories and in the field.

The Liquiline Mobile CML18 handheld device and Memosens CPL51E lab pH sensor has been launched by Endress+Hauser . The multi-parameter handheld device enables easy and reliable monitoring of a variety of critical measured values. The CML18 and the CPL51E pH electrode can be paired together for applications in the lab or for grab sample analysis in the field.

Historically, different products are used for lab analysis versus process measurements. When analyzing a sample in the lab, the use of different measuring technologies can often result in deviations between the lab measurement and the measurement recorded in the process. With this device, the same Memosens sensors that are used in the process can also be used in the lab. This guarantees complete consistency of data between lab and process measurements. In pH measurement applications in the lab requiring a particularly fast response time, the Memosens CPL51E is the ideal choice. It uses the same Memosens technology as the process sensors, but it is optimized for a fast response time in sample analysis and laboratory applications that do not require a high degree of temperature- and pressure-resistance.

It can be operated easily using the intuitive SmartBlue app. All measured values and sensor data are transferred via a secure Bluetooth connection to the app on a smartphone or tablet. SmartBlue provides users with a convenient way to make settings and adjustments, and to view sensor information and measured values. The device has an integrated, wireless charging function, which enables inductive charging using a Qi-certified charger. The Memosens CPL51E lab pH sensor is pre-calibrated and ready for use, just like all Memosens pH sensors from Endress+Hauser.

It may be used with Endress+Hauser Memosens pH, ORP, conductivity and dissolved oxygen sensors. In addition to the primary measured variable other values are also displayed in parallel, such as the measured temperature. With digital Memosens technology, switching between different sensors is easy, and the connection to each made directly at the measuring point. The mobile device immediately detects which sensor is connected, automatically loads the saved sensor data, and displays the measured value. It is also be used to log measurement data. A data logger can store 10,000 measured values with a date and time stamp. An equally large grab sample data memory can also store 10,000 values.

The Liquiline Mobile CML18 device with Memosens technology guarantees maximum data security, delivering 100% reliable measured variables. Each sensor is equipped with a microprocessor, which is integrated in the sensor head and converts the sensor signals to a robust digital signal. A Memosens sensor connection and digital signal are unaffected by moisture and other environmental influences.

Automatic synchronisation.

Emerson’s AMS Trex™ Device Communicator adds new enhancements that improve response time to operational changes through best-in-class visibility of field changes. Auto Sync technology makes AMS Trex the first handheld communicator to automatically synchronise field data with a facility’s AMS Device Manager database. By connecting field data with decision-makers, maintenance and operations personnel will now have even faster access to field changes and an accurate audit trail for compliance and analysis requirements.

“The AMS Trex communicator delivers a solution where AMS Device Manager and handheld communicators work together in harmony to ensure hands-off documentation of all device changes,”
said Pat Fitzgerald, vice president for Emerson’s Reliability Solutions business. “Shop supervisors can easily maintain integrity of the asset database, helping management maintain compliance and trust the integrity of their data."

Before the AMS Trex, when changes happened in the field, information about those changes was often incomplete, inaccurate, or delayed. The communicator eliminates this risk of inaccurate data, by logging and timestamping all changes as they occur. With the resulting audit trail, organisations know not only what was changed, but when and by what device, simplifying change-related troubleshooting and providing easily accessible data for compliance audits.

Even if a technician is servicing a stranded device far from the asset database server or in a Wi-Fi dead zone, changes are cached locally on the communicator and uploaded as soon as the handheld automatically connects with the system, either wirelessly, or via USB cable connection.

The AMS Trex communicator, part of Emerson’s Always Mobile portfolio, harnesses the power of the Industrial IoT (IIoT) to deliver the data personnel need to improve maintenance efficiency and plant reliability, from wherever they work. With Auto Sync, shop supervisors don’t have to waste time tracking down individual units to verify that device changes have been uploaded to the database. Instead, the communicators can stay with the technicians, improving their efficiency. In addition, new field devices are captured on the device communicator and will automatically populate in the asset database.

Their Always Mobile portfolio is a fundamental component of the Plantweb™ digital ecosystem, enabling professionals access to role-based tools, analytics and dashboards anywhere, anytime, extending the reach of IIoT across the plant and beyond.

Strain gauge indicator scores!

Mantracourt has had great success with its portable strain gauge display for use as a strain gauge indicator or load cell indicator, (PSD). Developed for a range of industrial customer applications, the PSD is now used by thousands of engineers and technicians around the world.

• Portable digital display for use as a strain gauge indicator or load cell indicator
• Easy to carry - weighing only 250 grams
• Waterproof IP65 NEMA4 battery powered
• 7 digit LCD display, with battery, peak, trough, net, overload and shunt cal indication
• Battery life of 450 hrs in power save mode
• Tactile keyboard, with on/off, range select, peak/valley hold, and gross/net controls
• Microprocessor based, allowing single pass calibration facility (direct mV/V)
• Dual range for values such as Kg and lb
• TEDS enabled for automatic sensor calibration (IEEE1451 - template 33)
• Option for display with RS232 output option
Enabled for automatic sensor calibration and having a waterproof enclosure, a long battery life and with a sister handheld for RS232 output, the PSD strain gauge indicator is ideal for a broad range of industrial applications where load, pressure, force or weight measurement data needs to be reliably and accurately recorded.

“The PSD strain gauge display has been developed over recent years for use in harsh environments and is also small and light, so it has proven ideal for the collection of strain gauge and load cell data in industrial and architectural environments,” said Kelly Voysey,  Marketing Manager at Mantracourt. “There is also a great deal of intelligence that has been developed into the PSD, making it a highly effective and powerful tool for the collection and analysis of this type of data.”

Mantracourt are specialists in the design and manufacture of electronics for measurement technologies including strain gauge, temperature, pressure, voltage, current, potentiometer, rate, flow, LVDT and displacement in either analogue, digital or wireless form.

“Having been in production since 2003, the PSD strain gauge indicator has proven to be a highly effective solution in a broad range of applications, we have sold many thousands worldwide and we expect a similar growth in sales over the next few years. Indeed, it is successful products such as the PSD that helped Mantracourt gain the Queen's Award for Enterprise in International Trade.”

A typical application of the PSD digital display has been the monitoring of the loads on ‘guide wires’, used to maintain the stability of radio masts. Load shackles with built-in TEDS capabilities are used in the guylines. The TEDS shackles have the intelligence to hold the calibration details of the associated shackle. Using a TEDS enabled PSD load cell display, an operative can connect the PSD to each shackle through a 5 pin Binder socket and the mating connector supplied.

Once connected, the load can be easily read by the PSD using the simple peak/valley hold or gross/net keyboard functions. As calibration is not required, the handheld does not need to be informed as to what shackle it is currently measuring which prevents mix-ups occurring when taking readings. Anyone attending the mast can simply take the readings required by connecting and switching on the PSD. Alternatively, using the PSD232, the sister of the PSD, connection to RS232 can be made which will allow users to interface with a PC or datalogger, for example. The PSD232 sends the displayed value to the RS232 port at 9600 baud in an ASCII format, terminated by a carriage return and line-feed.

“The PSD is designed and entirely manufactured at our factory in the UK," said Kelly. “This enables us to ensure the quality and provide the very best technical and engineering support for the PSD.”
