DIN-Rail power supplies - a first.

The PLANET product family is a new generation of industrial power supplies that combine high efficiency, reliability and compact size. Introduced recently by PULS, the single- and three-phase DIN-Rail power supplies have been developed to meet the most demanding industrial applications and set new standards in energy efficiency, service life and ease of use.

As an industry first, PLANET is the first DIN -Rail power supply to feature active load sharing in parallel operation. Thanks to this technology, high-power systems can be realised more quickly using fanless power supplies. Precise control balances the load between power supplies, ensuring even thermal distribution and thus optimal system reliability.

The family currently includes single-phase and three-phase models rated to 960 W. An efficiency level of 97% reduces energy losses, heat generation and reliability, lowers operating costs, and contributes to CO₂ reduction. The reduced heat generation makes the compact design of a three-phase 960 W unit with a width of just 79 mm possible, creating more space in the control cabinet.

For applications with dynamic loads – such as motor control in intralogistics and robotics – the devices offer Dynamic BonusPower, which automatically adapts to the changing demands of the application. With this technology, the three-phase TP960 can provide power reserves between 120% (continuous) and 200% (12 seconds), depending on the duration. This enables reliable handling of acceleration processes without the need to use oversized power supplies.

With an MTBF of up to 325,000 hours and a minimum service life of 100,000 hours, the new power supplies are designed for long-term operation. The sophisticated convection-cooled design supports reliable continuous operation without a fan. The optimised HiccupPlus protection mechanism increases system safety in the event of overload or short circuit.

Quick-connect terminals and a voltage selector with preset values ensure fast installation of the three-phase variants. An LED load indicator, AC-OK/DC-OK signals and documentation accessible via QR code make installation and maintenance easier.

With the development of the PLANET family, PULS has improved in key areas such as efficiency, size and service life. This offers customers measurable benefits: these innovative DIN rail power supplies help save space, energy and overall operating costs at the same time.

With its wide portfolio, PULS offers compact designs for space-efficient control cabinets, high MTBF and lifetime values for long-term projects, integrated signals for fast diagnostics and power reserves that reliably absorb peak loads.

Interfaces and protocols include 4-20mA HART, Modbus RTU/Modbus TCP/IP, PROFIBUS DP, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Ethernet TCP/IP, USB, RS-232C/RS485 and OPC.

With all these interfaces, the Memograph M easily communicates with new and existing PLCs, SCADA systems, distributed control systems, historians and cloud-based data structures. It also has an embedded web server that can be accessed by any web browser via the internet once proper security procedures are followed.

The Memograph M mounts on a standard DIN rail, is powered by standard 24Vdc or 230Vac power supplies, and has IP20 protection. All connections on the front of the device are designed as pluggable screw or spring terminal blocks, with reverse polarity protection in either case, making connections quick and easy. The spring terminals are unlocked with a slotted screwdriver.

It provides tamper-proof data recording on 256MB of internal memory compliant with various legal directives, a 32GB SD card and a 32GB USB drive. Built-in software includes FDM Field Data Manager for visualization, analyzing, backup and reporting; audit trail software consistent with FDA21 CFR part 11; and Itherm TrustSens temperature sensor calibration. Application packages include mathematics, Telealarm, batch management, wastewater + RSB (rain spillway basin) and energy calculations.

The Memograph M can generate e-mail or SMS messages to alert users of alarm conditions or process events. Messages can be sent to several recipients simultaneously or automatically forwarded to a recipient/destination. Messages can be confirmed, relays controlled remotely and current values queried by any web browser.

Modbus interface transmitters.

Knick Elektronische Messgeräte have expanded their slim Memosens transmitter series MemoRail for control cabinet installation with a Modbus interface version. The MemoRail Modbus A1405N is the first multi-parameter analyzer that provides operators with an economic, compact transmitter for full-featured integration of Memosens monitoring stations into the fieldbus standard. Up until now, operators could only choose between comprehensively equipped analyzers with a display or compact transmitters with limited functionality.

The new MemoRail Modbus modules from Knick, which feature a modular housing with a width of just 17.5 mm, not only transmit measured values and diagnostic data to the Modbus master, they also enable unrestricted access to device configuration and sensor calibration through the Modbus RTU protocol. Up to 32 transmitters can be connected to a Modbus master. For the measurement of pH/ORP, conductivity or oxygen, MemoRail Modbus can be combined with all Memosens sensors, whether pH glass, IsFET, oxygen, or conductivity (conductive and inductive). What's more, the DIN rail module is the only analyzer of its class that enables the connection of LDO sensors (luminescent dissolved oxygen) for the optical measurement of oxygen. The new devices come as single- or dual-channel versions with freely combinable parameters or sensors. Either two freely selectable Memosens sensors or a Memosens sensor and a SE 740 LDO can be connected. Additionally, the transmitters allow for the connection of the new SE 554 X/1-AMSN and SE 555 X/1-AMSN combination sensors that synchronously measure pH and ORP values. In this way, a dual-channel MemoRail model provides four readings as well as temperature.

The network address for rapid Modbus configuration is set via DIP switches on the front panel. The 24 V DC supply can be connected either via TBUS or via a cable connected to the terminals at the back. Red and green LEDs indicate the device status, communication interruptions, defective sensors or device settings unsuitable to the sensor as well as the device's maintenance requirements. Knick provides a 3-year warranty on the MemoRail Modbus transmitters.
