Calculating humidity.

The Humidity Calculator by E+E Elektronik enables complex humidity calculations to be performed easily and in real-time. This free calculation tool works online in any recent browser and can also be installed as an app on smartphones or a PC. Up to 15 humidity-related parameters can be computed with the practical calculation program. In addition, the E+E Humidity Calculator features a separate calculation mode for determining the pressure dew point.

Based on three known physical quantities (pressure, temperature, and a humidity measurand), the E+E Humidity Calculator computes up to 15 humidity-related parameters such as the dew point, frost point, absolute humidity, enthalpy, etc. A significant difference to other humidity calculators is that the Calculator also takes the measurement uncertainty into account and therefore ensures particularly practical results.

In addition to computing and converting physical humidity quantities, the E+E Humidity Calculator can also be used to simulate the behaviour of the humidity values as pressure and temperature conditions change. For realistic calculations, air and 10 other gases (including argon, CO2, helium, and methane) can be selected as the carrier medium.

The formulae for conversion, including computing the uncertainty, are based on the common humidity theories and have been validated by the accredited E+E Elektronik calibration laboratory.

In addition to calculating the humidity, it features a separate calculation mode for computing the dew point in compressed air systems. This makes it easy to determine the change in dew point temperature in relation to the gas pressure.

This Humidity Calculator is easy and intuitive in use, and it offers a rich set of useful features. For example, the measurement units of the physical quantities can be converted from SI to the US system of units with just one click, or individually defined for each physical quantity. Users can adapt the list of calculated physical quantities to suit their own needs by displaying or hiding individual lines. The computation results can be exported as PDF or Excel files and also sent via e-mail. A click on the Reset button clears all calculations and restores the initial list of measurands.

Online moisture and humidity calculator

Michell Instruments have produced a new downloadable Windows humidity calculator, available for free download from their support section.

The calculator is a valuable tool for anyone working with processes involving moisture control or analysis. The application allows for easy calculations and conversions between units of moisture content in parts per million (ppm), dew point, relative humidity and moisture in liquid.

The humidity calculator offers a comprehensive selection of humidity units. High and low humidity ranges are covered. It facilitates calculations with extremely dry gases containing only parts per billion (ppb) moisture content – which is of most relevance to sectors such as semiconductor industry. At the other end of the scale, it is capable of calculations involving very high concentrations of water vapour – such as in paper production and certain metallurgical processes.
Parameters included on the online calculator:

Mobile app for technical calculations

Thomson now provides a new app on its website. The "EngineersCALC" application contains four different, frequently used calculation programs that support machine and positioning system designers and engineers in their daily work. The app allows users to quickly convert figures from one unit of measurement to another, determine the inertia of bodies with simple shapes, calculate the density of various materials and look up commonly used trigonometry and calculation functions. The app impresses with its powerful and thereby fast calculation speed, as well as its highly intuitive and user-friendly interface. It allows users of smartphones to carry a valuable planning tool with them wherever they go - not just in the office, but also in the field, for example in a test lab or a model workshop. EngineersCALC also allows users to save their calculations or forward them to colleagues quickly and easily using the integrated e-mail and message module.

EngineersCALC is currently available for the Apple iPhone, iPad and iTouch, as well as for Android and Blackberry smartphones. Thomson also offers a free-of-charge desktop version of the application. This practical "Motion Engineer's Toolbar" can be integrated in the Windows taskbar, allowing it to be displayed whenever needed and then easily hidden again.
