Precise pH measurements in the Lab.

High precision pH, conductivity, ion concentration and DO2 measurements.

NineFocus™ is a new high-performance, multiparameter benchtop meter system from Mettler Toledo. Designed for laboratories and near-production, it measures pH, conductivity, ion concentration, and dissolved oxygen with compelling precision. It is at its best with the smart InLab® DES® digital sensors with diagnostic capabilities.

Designed to meet common laboratory demands, the new multiparameter measurement system focuses on boosting productivity, reducing operational costs, and delivering consistent, accurate results. It offers a modular design, emphasizes intuitive operation, and supports regulatory compliance. Together with the guided troubleshooting of the InLab DES digital sensors, this power duo raises the bar for exceptional measurement performance.

  • Designed to evolve: The built-in digital module measures up to four parameters, which means that for a different application, no new meter is required, only a sensor. That makes it easy to turn a pH meter into a conductivity meter, for example. The meter's productivity can be expanded with additional modules to measure up to four parameters either simultaneously or in a custom sequence. By adding an analog module, NineFocus becomes fully compatible with analog sensors (e.g. InLab ISM).
  • Fast Problem Solving: The diagnostic capability of the InLab DES digital sensors monitors the sensor condition, provides step-by-step troubleshooting guidance on the meter, facilitates preventive maintenance, and helps prevent premature sensor replacement.
  • Data Integrity: The fully flexible user management of NineFocus enables to tailor user groups to suit any need or situation and protects settings from unwanted changes with access control based on job roles and user-specific passwords, thus supporting compliance with regulations and industry standards.
  • Simple Operation: The OneClick™ user interface allows operators to launch custom shortcuts for even the most complex workflows instantly with a single click on the home screen to save time, minimize errors, and enhance overall workflow efficiency. Supporting 14 languages, it ensures fast local adoption and helps prevent misunderstandings or mistakes.
  • Flexible Footprint on the Bench: NineFocus is not tied to a fixed location but offers versatile placement options, allowing the terminal to be positioned wherever it is most convenient and comfortable —in front of the meter, on top of it, freely on the bench, or mounted on the EasyPlace™ electrode arm. With various cable lengths, the system can be operated safely even under a fume hood.
  • Resilient: The meter's IP52 rating guarantees protection of its internal components against harmful dust ingress and water drips. The connector compartment keeps the connectors safe and prevents corrosion from exposure to liquids. With a protective cover, the control terminal is protected from dust, dirt, or fluids such as aggressive chemicals.
  • Flexible Automation*: The new NineFocus measurement system offers flexible integration with the InMotion™ autosampler to increase efficiency in the lab. Its capability for automated calibration, verification, and measurement of over 300 samples significantly boosts productivity while minimizing errors. It is supported with instrument software version 2.0.0
  • Full Compliance Support: NineFocus offers automatic data transfer to a PC or LabX software, ensuring accurate transcription and seamless compliance with industry regulatory standards such as CFR 21 Part 11, and ALCOA++, which is vital for any pH meter with data logging capabilities.
  • Sustainable Investment: The InLab DES sensors enhance sustainability and reduce material waste due to their detachable Signal Bridge, which hosts the measurement electronics. This means that only the sensor shaft needs replacement at the end of its lifecycle, while the Signal Bridge – which is compatible with different sensor models within the same parameter - can be reused. And while the sensor cable is detachable for different workplace setups, really only one cable is needed for all sensors.

Mini lab with big performance.

Quick and easy colour detection.

The EasyPlus UV/VIS measuring device from Mettler Toledo represents a significant opportunity for the industry, offering uncomplicated, space-saving, and cost-effective colour analysis of food and beverages. The device is straightforward to use and comes with 30 pre-installed colour scales. Its DIN A4 sheet size makes it an ideal analysis instrument for quick, compliant results. It is well-suited for use as a standalone solution in departments, for mobile use, or to relieve large laboratories.

The compact and versatile EasyPlus UV/VIS spectrophotometer recently proved its strengths in colour analysis during the formulation of a new soy sauce. The developers of an international food producer used the special advantages of the flexible EasyPlus UV/VIS spectrophotometer for this purpose. With the device, they added a local and quickly deployable analysis unit to their always busy central laboratory, which enabled the team to carry out precise absorption and CIELab measurements in 3.5-millimeter quartz cuvettes directly in the department. The small size and high performance of the flexible small laboratory were so convincing that a second device was ordered immediately.

Little power pack.
The reasons could be highlighted in colour: The EasyPlus UV/VIS spectrophotometer simplifies the colour control of liquid foodstuffs in accordance with regulations — quickly, conveniently, and inexpensively. With 30 pre-stored colour indices and reference values, the device immediately shows whether a sample meets the defined quality standards. With the additional EasyDirect™ UV/VIS software, the device can also convert a measurement into two additional colour scales, which significantly reduces the analysis effort. The robust lamp also requires no warm-up time.

Convenient use.
The minilab is also extremely easy to operate and takes the strain off staff: The EasyPlus UV/VIS spectrophotometer guides the user step by step through the entire testing process via a touchscreen display. Neither installation nor on-site training is required. To get started with colour analysis, Mettler Toledo provides informational material for download and video tutorials.

As soon as the lid of the measuring device is closed, the analysis starts automatically. The integrated PathDetect™ function automatically recognises which of the up to seven possible cell sizes or path lengths is being measured, thereby reducing application errors.

In addition to the colour analysis of numerous substances, the all-rounder is also suitable for spectrophotometric tasks and water tests. This makes the analysis unit a trump card for small and medium-sized companies, giving specialist departments flexibility and independence from central and external laboratories.

Tunneling and automation B2B solution

Kepware Technologies, the leader in Communications for Automation has released KEPServerEX version 5.2. This release delivers significant new features including an OPC UA Client and Server, an Alarm and Event Condition option - expanding on the previously delivered OPC AE interface, and updated Mettler Toledo and IDEC Drivers.

OPC UA is the most robust of OPC Foundation specifications. KEPServerEX now delivers an OPC UA Server, in addition to existing OPC DA and OPC AE interfaces. KEPServerEX also delivers an optional OPC UA Client Driver. The combination of OPC UA Client and Server interfaces, in addition to all other KEPServerEX interfaces enable it to be a “Standards Based” Tunneling solution. Tunneling solutions are a replacement for Microsoft DCOM communications in distributed OPC DA applications. More importantly for the automation industry, the security inherent to OPC UA, in terms of data encryption and authentication makes it an excellent choice for real-time data sharing in Automation related Real-time Business to Business (B2B) applications. B2B has typically been handled on a non-real-time transactional basis with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) or with custom developments when real-time connectivity was required. Now, Kepware offers a standards based and cost effective off the shelf solution.

This release also delivers a significant new Alarm and Event Condition option, the ability to monitor variables and configure conditions with which to trigger Alarm or Event messaging. The Alarm and Event Condition option works in conjunction with the KEPServerEX OPC AE interface.

Further enhancements include additional CID (Custom Interface Driver – OPC Toolkit) sample code in C#, an updated Allen Bradley ControlLogix Driver – now supports 1024 Programs and multi-byte Strings, Mettler Toledo – scale controls, IDEC Driver – expanded ranges for MicroSmart and Open models, and Modbus Ethernet – Global settings changes at runtime.

“KEPServerEX enhancements are released on a quarterly schedule,” explained Tony Paine, President of Kepware Technologies. “Each release is packed with major new technology and value for our customers. We are not just a driver company any more. Our goal is Interoperability – through Standards and with popular native interfaces.”

“Kepware, through its OEM partnerships, channels and direct efforts, is a major driver of OPC adoption in the world,” says Thomas Burke, President of the OPC Foundation. “Their new support for OPC UA, and the positioning for Real-time B2B for Automation is very creative and exactly what we need at a time when all communications are moving toward standards. For example, the world has a focus on the SmartGrid. That is Real-time B2B for Automation. Data needs to be exchanged between customers and suppliers in real-time and securely, and OPC UA technology, through players like Kepware, will solve real world problems with off the shelf, cost effective solutions.”
