Mini lab with big performance.

Quick and easy colour detection.

The EasyPlus UV/VIS measuring device from Mettler Toledo represents a significant opportunity for the industry, offering uncomplicated, space-saving, and cost-effective colour analysis of food and beverages. The device is straightforward to use and comes with 30 pre-installed colour scales. Its DIN A4 sheet size makes it an ideal analysis instrument for quick, compliant results. It is well-suited for use as a standalone solution in departments, for mobile use, or to relieve large laboratories.

The compact and versatile EasyPlus UV/VIS spectrophotometer recently proved its strengths in colour analysis during the formulation of a new soy sauce. The developers of an international food producer used the special advantages of the flexible EasyPlus UV/VIS spectrophotometer for this purpose. With the device, they added a local and quickly deployable analysis unit to their always busy central laboratory, which enabled the team to carry out precise absorption and CIELab measurements in 3.5-millimeter quartz cuvettes directly in the department. The small size and high performance of the flexible small laboratory were so convincing that a second device was ordered immediately.

The reasons could be highlighted in colour: The EasyPlus UV/VIS spectrophotometer simplifies the colour control of liquid foodstuffs in accordance with regulations — quickly, conveniently, and inexpensively. With 30 pre-stored colour indices and reference values, the device immediately shows whether a sample meets the defined quality standards. With the additional EasyDirect™ UV/VIS software, the device can also convert a measurement into two additional colour scales, which significantly reduces the analysis effort. The robust lamp also requires no warm-up time.

Convenient use.
The minilab is also extremely easy to operate and takes the strain off staff: The EasyPlus UV/VIS spectrophotometer guides the user step by step through the entire testing process via a touchscreen display. Neither installation nor on-site training is required. To get started with colour analysis, Mettler Toledo provides informational material for download and video tutorials.

As soon as the lid of the measuring device is closed, the analysis starts automatically. The integrated PathDetect™ function automatically recognises which of the up to seven possible cell sizes or path lengths is being measured, thereby reducing application errors.

In addition to the colour analysis of numerous substances, the all-rounder is also suitable for spectrophotometric tasks and water tests. This makes the analysis unit a trump card for small and medium-sized companies, giving specialist departments flexibility and independence from central and external laboratories.

When things get really colourful

With their new BFS 33M colour sensor Balluff introduces a true-colour sensor of the highest class. No matter what kind of objects you show the sensor, it can discriminate them all with unerring accuracy. Even the slightest shades, smallest gray level differences or minimal changes to the surface properties are detected without effort. It precisely detects an object and switches the corresponding output with lightning speed. Up to seven objects can be signaled on the switching outputs in this way. In addition the L*a*b color values can also be directly output on a serial interface. Special compensation and individualized calibration means the sensor achieves extremely high accuracy over a long period.

The BFS 33M is more than a simple color sensor. As a True Colour sensor it precisely detects every colour in the technical spectrum, making it ideal for use in a variety of demanding applications including robotics, automated assembly, in the packaging industry or wood processing industry. The rugged aluminum sensor housing is not only attractive and modern, but also meets the special needs of machine and systems builders. The sensor is always used in conjunction with a fiber optic cable, so that applications under especially harsh conditions and tight mounting spaces can be handled.

Together with an optional lens from Balluff even ranges of up to 400mm and beyond are easily within reach. Metal parts in finishing processes can be monitored, or various material qualities selected. The high switching frequency of 1.5 kHz makes it possible to monitor even fast processes such as in the printing industry. All the sensor settings can be conveniently made and displayed using user-friendly software. This means the sensor will not only be up and running in no time, but the user will also always know its status. The BFS 33 is the ideal tool for automated quality control in running processes.
