Data centre hydronic cooling.

Decades of critical infrastructure insights brought to data centre cooling systems.

The new Rosemount™ 8795 Magnetic Flow Sensor is a purpose-built for data centre hydronic cooling applications. This industrial-grade flow sensor provides accurate, repeatable flow measurements for high reliability and uptime in mission-critical data centre applications. Designed for data centre environments, the flow sensor addresses common specification needs to simplify selection, installation and commissioning.

“As data centres expand to support growing digital infrastructure demands, the Rosemount 8795 applies decades of Emerson flow measurement expertise to help operators improve reliability, simplify deployment and maximise cooling system performance in mission-critical applications,” said Bob Halgren, vice president magnetic and vortex flow products with Emerson’s measurement instrumentation business.

The flow sensor can host Emerson’s proprietary software designed for short-run installations, enabling accurate flow measurement even when straight pipe requirements cannot be met, as is often the case in space-constrained data centre environments. This feature provides 0.5% accuracy at zero diameters (0D) of pipe runs based on the upstream disturbance and distance from the electrodes, and it is implemented during set-up when the sensor is paired with compatible Rosemount magnetic flow transmitters. This is an industry first as other mag meters require either a specially designed sensor with multiple electrodes or a reduced bore to provide this benefit.

For installations with longer upstream and downstream straight pipe runs of 5U/2D or more, the flow sensor can be paired with any compatible Rosemount transmitter to provide flow measurement with 0.2% ± 2 mm/s accuracy for reliable monitoring and control of critical cooling loops. With all compatible Rosemount transmitters, the built-in diagnostics and verification capabilities empower data centre operators and integrators to reduce commissioning risk, while maintaining confidence in ongoing system performance.

Optimised for chilled water and water glycol cooling loops, the sensor provides consistent performance across common data centre line sizes of 2 - 18 inches. Proven reliability and 0.1% repeatability ensures highly reliable and accurate data sent to building management systems (BMS) and data centre infrastructure management (DCIM) for water, cooling and power usage effectiveness (WUE, CUE, PUE) calculations. Its polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) liner and stainless steel electrodes were selected specifically for these types of thermal management applications in primary cooling loops, ensuring dependable operation in closed-loop cooling systems.

The industrial-grade flow sensor is designed to meet common BMS cooling specifications, while also being flexible for various situational needs. Functionality includes no moving parts, 5µS/cm minimum conductivity, dual 4-20mA plus Modbus output, universal power for AC or DC usage, flexibility for integrally or remotely mounted transmitters, and Short Run Installation software. These functions enable standardisation around a single solution for all hydronic needs at a data centre site. Emerson’s global supply chain shortens lead times at the scale required by data centres.

This instrument brings enhanced software capabilities and simplified ordering to Emerson’s existing magnetic flow meter portfolio, strengthening Emerson’s instrumentation offering for data centre customers.

Magmeters with PECS.

PEX liners deliver durable, abrasion-resistant performance across flow meter portfolio, without PFAS-related compliance issues or added costs.

The release of PEX liners for the Rosemount™ 8750W Magnetic Flow Meter has been announced by Emerson. The Rosemount 8705 Flanged Magnetic Flow Meter and Rosemount MS Magnetic Flow Meter sensors are designed for water/wastewater and other slurry or abrasive applications. The new PEX liner gives users a longer lasting, PFAS‑free and more cost-effective flow meter solution that simplifies stocking and compliance while improving reliability in chemically aggressive conditions.

Existing liner solutions have relatively poor wear resistance to both chemical attack and abrasive slurries, emitting harmful chemicals as they wear. These solutions are also expensive to purchase and maintain, with liner flaring often occurring if meters are not installed promptly or removed temporarily and then reinstalled. Existing solutions also present stocking and inventory challenges because different applications require different liner types, an issue compounded by their relatively high cost.

To address these issues, Rosemount magnetic flow meters now provide a PEX liner option that is not available from other suppliers. This exclusivity enables end users to address per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) concerns and durability challenges, without changing measurement technology or suppliers.

PEX liners formulated without PFAS help end users respond to increasing regulatory, environmental and public scrutiny, while maintaining liner performance. This simplifies material selection and stocking compared to fluoropolymer-based liners, as the latter can differ in materials of construction, depending on the application.

The PEX liners’ crosslinked molecular structure delivers high abrasion resistance, making it suitable for wastewater, slurries and other applications with entrained solids where liner wear can reduce product life. Even with all these advantages, PEX liners are typically less expensive than alternative solutions. PEX liners are available now for line sizes up to 8 inches, with liners for larger line sizes under development.

Flowmeter for datacentres.

Flow device primed for security in data centre and OEM applications at various stages of the liquid cooling process.

A new OEM‑configured variant of the Picomag electromagnetic flowmeter for the US market has been announced by Endress+Hauser. Purpose‑built for liquid cooling applications in data centres and OEM cooling systems, this version provides customers with a factory‑configured option designed for environments where instrumentation without wireless connectivity is required.

Picomag is Endress+Hauser’s compact electromagnetic flowmeter designed for accurate measurement of conductive fluids in small‑diameter pipelines. It combines flow, temperature and conductivity measurement in a single device.

While the standard Picomag includes industry‑leading Bluetooth® technology that meets rigorous global cybersecurity standards, many data centres and OEM partners operate under policies that prohibit wireless communication of any kind. The OEM variant meets this operational preference by offering a Picomag model delivered with Bluetooth® deactivated from the factory, ensuring alignment with facility policies while maintaining all core Picomag performance capabilities. In this configuration, the device integrates seamlessly through IO‑Link or standard signal outputs — 4–20 mA current, pulse, switch or 2–10 V — offering a controlled starting point ideal for secure or regulated environments.

"Data centres operate under some of the most demanding security expectations in the world,” said Nathan Hedrick, Product Marketing Group Manager at Endress+Hauser. “This OEM Picomag gives cooling system designers a compact, reliable and secure measurement option tailored for environments where wireless features are not permitted without compromising on the functionality our customers expect.”

Purpose‑built for high‑security data centre environments.
The OEM Picomag variant is designed to integrate seamlessly into standardized cooling skids, secondary distribution loops and rack‑level cooling modules. Key characteristics include:

  • Factory‑delivered with wireless connectivity deactivated to meet strict facility requirements
  • Preconfigured display behavior, output settings and engineering units for consistent OEM deployment
  • Available in 1” and 2” sizes, ideal for compact rack or subsystem cooling circuits

This version retains all Picomag’s hallmark advantages, including flow, temperature and conductivity measurement, a bright and auto‑rotating display, intuitive commissioning and built‑in diagnostic capabilities.

“This addition strengthens our ability to support every stage of a data centre facility’s cooling architecture,” said Lauton Rushford, Flow Product Marketing Manager at Endress+Hauser. “It ensures operators and OEMs can select instrumentation that aligns with their policies while benefiting from Picomag’s proven performance and simplicity.”

How does liquid cooling compare to traditional air cooling in data centres?
As data centres grow in density and power consumption, many operators are shifting from traditional air-cooling systems to liquid cooling architectures. Liquid cooling offers significantly greater heat‑removal efficiency, allowing facilities to manage higher thermal loads generated by modern CPUs and GPUs.

While air cooling relies on large volumes of conditioned airflow, liquid cooling absorbs and transports heat far more effectively, supporting higher rack densities, reducing energy use and enabling more compact system designs. This shift is especially pronounced in AI, hyperscale and high‑performance computing environments where equipment demands exceed what air cooling alone can accommodate.

Liquid cooling also supports more precise thermal management at the subsystem or rack level. This creates new measurement requirements for inline flow and temperature monitoring, which is where compact, secure devices like the OEM Picomag play a key role.

What are the latest trends in data centre optimization technology?
As data centres adopt increasingly complex liquid‑cooling architectures driven by high‑density GPU workloads, AI clusters and expanding global capacity, operators need compact, accurate measurement at more distributed points throughout the cooling network.

The OEM Picomag complements Endress+Hauser’s broader flow portfolio, including Proline Promag W 300/500 (0xDN), enabling a complete, scalable measurement strategy spanning from large‑diameter primary loops to small‑diameter subsystem circuits.

Stable water quality is also essential for maintaining liquid cooling efficiency. Complementary technologies such as inline liquid analysis (e.g., pH, conductivity and turbidity) help operators prevent scaling, corrosion and fouling, further supporting uptime and thermal stability.

Powering intelligent water loss management.

ABB’s AquaMaster4 Mobile Comms flowmeter is the latest wireless solution for continuous flow measurement, the logging of accurate data and communication of information that is critical for today’s water management. Superior connectivity on 4G-LTE and NB-IoT networks enables the AquaMaster4 electromagnetic flowmeter to facilitate 60 percent lower power consumption, identifying leaks ten times faster than the market standard.

AquaMaster4 Mobile Comms with mobile phone
An estimated two-thirds of the world’s population will potentially face water shortages by 2025 (1). Yet every year, billions of liters of water are lost before ever reaching destinations. A detailed understanding of per capita demand, growth of demand and costly leakage can be achieved by accurate and timely flow data coming into and going out water operations.

As the world’s first electromagnetic flowmeter with bidirectional connectivity, AquaMaster4 Mobile Comms provides near-real time data used for intelligent water management. Operators can be hundreds of miles away and read values from the device remotely, giving them access to manage the device and their operations wherever they are located and at any time. Historical logged values of pressure, flowrate, alarms, battery life, and activity record can also be retrieved remotely.

The enhanced flowmeter is also unique in its ability to identify low-flow nighttime leaks that would otherwise be undetected. The superior accuracy and connectedness offers increased measurement and billing confidence.

By using high speed, low-cost mobile data accessible via an internal SIM card connected to a mobile network, the new AquaMaster4 Mobile Comms provides an adaptable and agile solution for deployment from virtually any location. Costs are further reduced by the flowmeter’s high battery life, which removes the need for cumbersome, costly cables and field visits.

The flowmeter also detects battery life and can be reconfigured to a suitable power mode. The device recovers itself by re-booting in case of faults and allows for task automations. It can also be renewable-powered, further extending its cost-cutting capabilities, all while the predictive maintenance schedule and enhanced diagnostics helps saves time and money.

In addition to the new connectivity of Mobile Comms, ABB’s AquaMaster4 was recently awarded a Solar Impulse Efficient Solution label for its high-tech response to the global need for water crisis mitigation and adaptation. The Solar Impulse label rewards profitable solutions that protect the environment, and AquaMaster4 has been attributed the label following an assessment based on verified standards which was performed by a panel of independent, external experts. New flowmeter line introduced.

Many industrial process plants and facilities include hundreds or even thousands of measurement devices. Particularly for basic applications, demands for simplicity in commissioning, operation, and maintenance have increased significantly in recent years. Proline 10 meets these requirements without compromise because simplicity is the top priority for this new line of flowmeters from Endress+Hauser.

Proline Promag and Promass flowmeters have been proven in use over the past few decades in various industries. Since Promass flowmeters were introduced 40 years ago, over 1 million devices have been delivered. Promag flowmeters have been on the market for almost 50 years with over 2 million installed devices. Proline flowmeters continue this legacy with products designed for basic applications.

In addition to traditional quality indicators, the expectations for additional process plant and measuring device quality have continually increased. At the same time, end users demand minimal required maintenance effort coupled with maximum ease of use and low operating costs.

The Proline 10 fulfills these requirements without compromise. Endress+Hauser’s tried-and-tested transmitter technology has evolved with an even stronger focus on simplicity and user-friendliness, providing cost-efficiency and time savings through the complete lifecycle—from procurement to servicing—via simple and intuitive operation. This makes it easy for users to keep tabs on their basic applications, even in core processes.

Uncompromisingly simple
Proline 10 provides time and money savings over the entire product life cycle without any limitation on measurement performance. Every device is tested on accredited and traceable calibration rigs per ISO/IEC 17025. Proline 10 provides a high level of simplicity, safety and reliability.

Simplicity starts with end users selecting the optimum device for their application quickly, without overlooking any important order options. However, simplicity goes even farther. All the transmitter functions share one common goal: making handling of the device as easy as possible. Both commissioning and operation can be done quickly, in the field as well as in the control room. A commissioning wizard enables on-site configuration with either the auto-rotatable and high-contrast LCD touch screen, or the SmartBlue app via Bluetooth. The latter approach is particularly useful when devices are installed in difficult-to-access locations.

If warning or error messages occur during operation, Proline 10 provides guidance via integrated device diagnostics, which categorizes errors in accordance with NAMUR NE107, visualizes the cause of each, and offers appropriate remedies to provide error-free operation.

Designed for basic applications in all industries
Proline 10 flowmeters cover a wide range of basic applications in all kinds of industries. Proline Promag electromagnetic flowmeters are ideally suited for measuring the flows of conductive liquids, as well as for volume measurement of water and corrosive liquids (Promag W/H/D 10), and chemically aggressive fluids (Promag P 10).

The flowmeters meet the demands of basic applications in the water and wastewater, food and beverages, mining, minerals and metals, chemicals, power and energy, life sciences, utility, and other industries. They can be used, for example, for measuring raw water, cooling water, process water, or wastewater. Typical applications include volume measurement, consumption measurement, process monitoring, pump control, and dosing measurement.

Promass K 10 Coriolis flowmeters measure the mass flow of both liquids and gases in utilities, with minimal operating costs to maintain the flowmeter. The device can be used for filling and dosing tasks, process monitoring, pump control, consumption measurements, and much more.

In the chemical industry, Promass K 10 is used to measure the mass flow of liquids such as acids, alkalis, cleaning agents and solvents, oils, and alcohols—as well as liquid hydrocarbons.

In the food and beverage industry, the device measures the admixture quantity of animal fats (e.g., butter), or carbon dioxide (CO₂) during beverage carbonization. Furthermore, Promass K 10 is a reliable device for accurate quantity measurement in submetering distribution networks. In the life sciences industry, it can be used for mass flow measurement of purified water for injection purposes on process skids. In the utility industry, users benefit from efficient and cost-saving mass flow measurement of liquid and gaseous fuels.

Simply clever – multivariable and usable everywhere
Proline 10 provides optimum product quality and process monitoring measurements via the simultaneous measurement of additional process variables. In addition to mass flow, Promass K 10 also measures volume flow, temperature, and optionally density. With its Gas Fraction Handler function, Promass K 10 provides reliable and accurate measurements of even inhomogeneous liquids with entrained gas.

Proline Promag 10 is optionally available with conductivity measurement (Promag W/P/H) or temperature measurement (Promag H). Promag W and P can also be ordered with grounding-free measurement, which is based on the floating measurement concept.

Another order option is “0 x DN full bore” for the Promag W 10. Electromagnetic flowmeters with this option can be installed without inlet and outlet runs, a capability often needed in piping networks or directly downstream of fittings to provide accurate measurements independently of the flow profile. Thanks to their design without tube restriction, there is no pressure loss.

Heartbeat Technology – for maximum operational safety
The Heartbeat Technology option provides permanent self-diagnostics with the highest level of coverage, as well as a traceable device verification, all without process interruption. The integrated real-time clock ensures each verification receives an automatically generated time stamp. Heartbeat Technology reduces risks in a plant, thus increasing reliability and availability.

Data storage
HistoROM data storage ensures maximum data security before, during, and after servicing. All device parameters are stored securely on the HistoROM data storage module and are automatically reloaded after maintenance work, or easily transferred after a device is replaced. Installation and maintenance are therefore easy and quick, reducing downtime.

Transmitter for seamless system integration
Promag and Promass sensors can be combined with four different Proline 10 transmitters:

  • Without display, measurement data can be queried via communication protocols.
  • With two status LEDs, operated via Bluetooth with the SmartBlue app.
  • With a 2.4" LCD display which can be used to read data, with the SmartBlue app is used for configuration and operation.
  • With a 2.4" LCD touchscreen that can be operated with common touch gestures, or by using the SmartBlue app.

Proline transmitters make no compromise in terms of performance and accuracy. Digital signal processing begins in the intelligent sensor and is the basis for reliable, exact measurement. The transmitter can simultaneously record multiple measured values and forward them to a process control or monitoring system. Complete access to all measurement data, including diagnostic data acquired by Heartbeat Technology, is possible at any time thanks to digital data transmission over HART or Modbus RS485, and over the corresponding 4-20 mA signal outputs.

Battery powered Mag Meter.

The extraction and transport of water often takes place in remote areas where there is no possibility to supply measuring instruments with power or to transmit data via wired connectivity. It is precisely for such applications that Endress+Hauser has developed the innovative Promag W 800 flowmeter with battery-powered operation. It provides maintenance-free operation for up to 15 years, as well as worldwide secure data transfer via cellular radio.

This electromagnetic flowmeter ensures not only reliable monitoring of water supply networks, but also efficient and time-saving maintenance. Leaks can be located reliably, and non-billable water losses (non-revenue water) can be avoided.

It is suitable for measuring lake, river, spring, or groundwater flows for drinking and process water, as well as for applications in distribution networks subject to fiscal metering. Likewise of great importance are consumption measurements when irrigating the frequently huge agricultural areas in climatic dry regions.

The unit has a backlit display, making it quick and easy to read measured values. Endress+Hauser’s SmartBlue app can be used to interact with the flowmeter for operations, and to provide more comprehensive data retrieval on site. It is also available with various drinking water approvals such as KTW/W270, WRAS BS6920, ACS, or NSF 61. These features combine to provide reliable monitoring of water flows and long-term economical operation:

• Seamless consumption measurements with a maximum measured error of ±0.5%.
• Exact cost allocation and billing in accordance with various laws and regulations.
• Monitoring of important characteristic variables such as water volume, totalized flow, flow limits, etc.
• Targeted leakage detection, e.g., by water balancing between two measuring points or by detecting pressure changes caused by water losses.

Secure worldwide data transmission and access
For future-oriented communication and connectivity, the Proline 800 transmitter includes everything needed within its minimal footprint: measuring electronics, batteries, data logger, and a cellular radio module to send and receive data worldwide via LTE Cat M1, LTE Cat NB1, or EGPRS. Furthermore, it can provide measured values and status messages online, such as flow, pressure, totalizer, device and process status, alarm messages, level of battery charge, and many others.

Various Endress+Hauser solution tools are available for this purpose. The Netilion Value app provides easy access to the most important measured values of a specific device. Netilion Water Network Insights, a cloud-based solution for monitoring and visualizing extensive water networks in which Promag W 800 is employed, is used to communicate with the flowmeter, store data, and provide worldwide secure access.

A built-in data logger safely stores up to 10,000 measured values or entries, with an optional extended data logger capable of storing up to 50,000 values. With a SIM card, it is also possible to integrate Promag W 800 into end user SCADA systems. For all connectivity options, global end-to-end encrypted data transmission provides maximum cybersecurity.

Long-term operation underground or under water
Flowmeters are often exposed to heat, dust, and climatic variations—and are often installed under water or underground. The robust and fully welded Promag W sensor operates in such environmental conditions without any problems.

The Promag W can be ordered with a specially certified corrosion protection (EN ISO 12944) and IP68 (Type 6P) degree of protection, which completely prevents water ingress. Both order options guarantee long-term operation, even in salty environments, or in climatic regions with significant fluctuations in humidity and/or temperature.

Heartbeat Technology – for reliable measurements and maximum operational safety In fiscal metering transactions, the smallest inaccuracies in flow measurement can cause massive shortfalls in annual billing, either for suppliers or for consumers. In the 24/7/365 operations common to the water industry, however, it is seldom realistic to remove flowmeters for test measurements or recalibration, particularly in large water pipelines.

To address this issue, integrated Heartbeat Technology makes it possible to monitor Promag flowmeters continuously and verify their functional capability at the press of a button, thus providing evidence of consistently high measurement accuracy within specifications. This enables assured compliance with regulations applying to fiscal metering measuring points, without interrupting the process. If Promag W 800 is part of the Netilion Water Network Insights solution, users can initiate and view this metrologically traceable verification directly over the cloud, anytime and from anywhere.

Verification logs are generated automatically and stored securely, providing the data often needed for later audits, or for drafting documentation to comply with statutory requirements. In consultation with regulatory authorities, this feature may enable legally required calibration intervals to be extended. For water system operators, this provides significantly lower costs when operating measuring points for fiscal metering.

Ultra-compact flowmeter.

The AF-E 400 ultra-compact electromagnetic flowmeter for utilities and industrial automation applications has been introduced by Krohne. It is specially designed to fit in applications with little installation space available, e.g. in cooling lines of welding equipment, bending machines and robots, or on chemical dosing skids. AF-E 400 matches the requirements of application areas in heating and cooling/temperature control, machine building of washing or dosing equipment, HVAC, and utilities and industrial automation applications in all process industries.

The company examined issues with products in this segment and developed the cost-effective ultra-compact flowmeter to be best in its class in terms of temperature range, accuracy, pressure drop and flow range: AF-E 400 features a stainless steel housing and is suitable for continuous use at +90°C/ +194°F liquid temperature, allowing for operation in very demanding cooling and hot water applications. The round bore reduction of the sensor makes the flowmeter more resilient in terms of increased pressure, ensuring high accuracy over a wide pressure and temperature range, and a high turndown ratio without risk of cavitation. The integrated temperature measurement eliminates the need for an additional sensor, minimising the intrusion points in the pipe and providing more data from the process.

AF-E 400 also features extensive self-diagnostics: the meter continuously monitors several critical aspects including low supply voltage, incorrect parametrisation, flow range exceedance, or short circuit on any of its outputs. Warning messages according to NAMUR NE107 alert the user via the rotatable full colour display or the communication outputs.

Due to the special design of its magnetic circuit, field strength and electronics, AF-E 400 is immune to crosstalk caused by magnetic field overlap of adjacent devices, and can be installed in series or in parallel up to a distance of 2 mm/ 0.08" from device to device without interference.

Nominal sensor sizes reach from DN6...25/ ¼...1¨ for flow rates up to 150 l/min/ 40 US gpm as standard, up to 500 l/min/ 132 US gpm on request. Output options include 4...20 mA, pulse, frequency, switch, IO–link or Modbus to provide operators with multiple sensor and application data for smarter factory automation. AF-E 400 is sold from stock and shipped within 48 hours.

Mag Meter with no restriction.

Proline Promag W is the world’s first electromagnetic flowmeter without measuring tube restriction, resulting in reliable measurements independent of the flow profile and the mounting location.

Promag W featuring the “0 x DN full bore” option, is a solution for a close-knit pipeline network or obstacles in pipes. This is the first mag meter of its kind in the world, providing maximum measuring performance without tube restriction, and thus without pressure loss.

Endress+Hauser's Promag W 300/400/500 flowmeters with the “0 x DN full bore” option measure with high accuracy (±0.5%), even directly downstream of pipe bends, T fittings, or insertion devices. They are particularly suitable for installation in tight spaces, such as compact systems or skids, because they do not need any inlet or outlet runs. The Promag W (0 x DN full bore) can easily handle swirls that frequently occur downstream of obstacles such as pipe bends and insertion devices, and even those downstream of unknown obstacles such as build-up on the pipe wall, protruding seals or different inside diameters.

The innovative measuring concept of the Promag W (0 x DN) features multiple measuring electrodes to detect flow. These electrodes generate a substantially higher density of measured data than standard devices. Together with the refined signal analysis, reliable measurement results are realized in swirl conditions.

Previously, in case of disturbances in the pipeline flow, plant operators either had to comply with the recommended inlet and outlet runs, or use a device with a restricted measuring tube to condition swirls within a very short tube section. In many cases, however, sufficiently long straight pipe sections are not present, and restrictions always cause pressure loss. This leads to increased energy consumption for pump operation and, as a result, higher energy costs.

The new “0 x DN full bore” option allows installation without inlet and outlet runs and without restriction, solving both challenges to deliver reliable measured values, flexible installation and cost-efficient measuring operation.

Promag W can be combined with different transmitters: as a compact version (Proline 300 and 400), or as a remote version (Proline 400 and 500) with up to four inputs and outputs. Proline transmitters make no compromises in terms of performance and accuracy. The digital signal processing begins in the smart sensor and is the basis for a reliable, highly accurate measurement. Full access to all measurement data, including diagnostic data acquired by Heartbeat Technology, is possible at any time via digital data transmission.

MagMeter Market study.

Flow Research have completed  and published a new Magnetic Flowmeter study.   It contains some surprising and unexpected results. As it turns out, the magnetic flowmeter market was more affected by the downturn in oil prices than was anticipated. Applications for water measurement in the hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking,” industry are among the reasons. The study contains hard data on the changes in the market since 2013, and quantifies these changes by region, by segment, and by technology.

The World Market for Magnetic Flowmeters, 6th Edition is now ready for shipping. The on-line overview may be read here (pdf).

The magnetic flowmeter market has many unique aspects that make this study of vital importance to anyone competing in this market. Liner types, line sizes, coil power types, and battery operation are among the segments considered. Unlike many flowmeters, magnetic flowmeters do not measure the flow of gas, steam, or hydrocarbon liquids. Yet they loom large in water and slurry flow measurement, in hydrofracking, in pulp and paper, and in many other areas. Magnetic flowmeters are especially popular in Europe, and major suppliers are located there, in the United States, and in Japan.

Some of the important trends identified are the growing use of insertion meters, wireless technology, and battery operated magnetic flowmeters. The study has also segmented the clean water from the wastewater market in this study.

Some say that water is the new oil. Whether or not this is true, there is no question that water flow measurement is more critical than ever in a world in which clean and potable water is an increasingly scarce commodity. This study makes it clear that magnetic flowmeter technology is changing, and that it is more important than ever today. This study will be of special interest to any companies looking to expand their magnetic flowmeter product line, or potentially to add magnetic flowmeters to their current offerings.
