The new stack heights add further to the flexibility provided by the har-flex® PCB connector family, which already offers a uniquely wide range of pole counts, fixings, design heights and reliable parameters for soldering.
The new PCB spacings are achieved by the use of straight male connectors with a stack height of 4.85 mm and female connectors with a stack height of 13.65 mm. These are complemented by har-flex® IDC ribbon cable connector assemblies to allow for the wider spacing between PCBs.
The resulting flexibility is essential because every instance of industrial device design is unique and each piece of housing needs to allow for different sizes, formats and requirements, with the PCBs inside the unit designed to offset other space factors.
Each PCB must include a defined position for interfaces to the housing wall or other electronic components and these will vary according to the device and its application. In har-flex®, Harting is offering a miniaturised interface that is without parallel in its flexibility. A compact pitch of 1.27 mm, pin counts ranging from six to 100 as required, finely graded stack heights of male and female connectors from 8-20 mm and fixings with SMT or THR hold-downs satisfy every conceivable requirement. har-flex® fits in almost any application, no matter how small, while at the same time being very robust.
har-flex® is also suitable for use with pick-and-place equipment, and can be soldered in reflow soldering processes. Harting gives high priority to faultless precision in its components, further aiding their use in automated manufacturing processes.
