Forty years of automation in Ireland!

Douglas Control and Automation is marking 40 years in business with the announcement that the firm will create an additional 10 new jobs in the coming 18 months. Founded in 1977, the company is partnered with global giants such as Siemens, Wonderware, Rockwell and Stahl, to deliver solutions for the manufacturing, pharma, biotech, medtech and transport sectors in Ireland, Britain and Europe.

Speaking at the announcement of continued growth, Douglas Control and Automation Managing Director Eugene Pigott said, “We have grown significantly through the decades based on our commitment to providing successful solutions to clients across the various sectors in which we operate. As automation engineers, we understand the vital importance of ensuring that each and every system performs optimally. With an ethos of quality and innovation, we have built a strong client portfolio, a reputation for excellence and a proven track record.”

Founded by Paul Sliney 40 years ago, the company, is the longest established Irish supplier of automation solutions. It is managed by Eugene Piggott and fellow directors, John O’Sullivan, Declan Lordan and James O’Shea. With a team of highly skilled engineers, the company headcount has grown steadily in the last decade particularly and is expected to increase further in the coming 18 months with contract wins and client expansion in Ireland, Europe and USA.

Providing turnkey solutions in industrial automation, across hardware and software platforms, Douglas Automation and Control has carved out a clear market opportunity over its 40 years. John O’Sullivan, Engineering Director: “In 40 years we have continuously innovated, moving with the client requirements from electronics systems in the 1980s to machine automation and process control in the 1990s, to batch management, data historians and validation services to the Life Science sector in the 2000s. Today we continue to add solutions to our portfolio as we have achieved certification in functional safety systems and look to the challenges facing our clients, such as cyber-security.”
