Flammable gas detection.

The OLCT 700 and OLCT 710 gas transmitters has been announced by Oldham. The 700/710 Series comprises 3 different models -FP, TP or IR- for the detection of flammable, H2S or CO2 gases.

The OLCT 700 can be used in combination with an increased safety approved junction box from your furniture. The OLCT 710 is ready to use and is made of an OLCT 700 attached to a junction box that contains the terminals and an optional surge protection module.

This series is specifically designed for harsh and extreme locations. It provides reliable operation in any circumstances between -40°C and +75°C. This new and superior level of environmental durability in sensor design includes an electropolished 316 stainless steel housing and 100% encapsulated electronics for complete protection and immunity to water ingress and corrosion.

The plug-in, field replaceable sensors can be easily replaced in the field. Operator interface is non-intrusive via a small handheld magnet and the embedded software is very intuitive.

SIL 2 certified according to IEC 61508:2010 functional safety standard, OLCT 700/710 instruments are also ATEX 2G certified for use in ATEX zones 1 and 2.

While the Model TP is using a poison-resistant catalytic bead sensor to detect combustible gases, the Model IR includes an infrared sensor to monitor combustible or CO2 gases.

Re the Model TP, it is equipped with a proprietary solid state metal oxide semiconductor sensor (MOS) and is very well suited to H2S detection in severe applications where the detector can be exposed to very high concentration/temperature and very low/high humidity. It is commonly used:

  • - in Wastewater Treatment Plants (primary treatment, biological treatment, etc. ),
  • - in Oil and Gas Industry (production platforms, drilling rigs, refineries, etc.),
  • - when temperature exceeds the upper operating temperature of 40-50°C.

The 700/710 Series is compatible with all Oldham MX controllers and is ModBus compatible with the MX 40 which can connect to up to 32 detectors.

The MX 40 has a 2Gb SD memory card and records all data (measurements, alarms, faults) in CSV format. The data can be read directly on the unit or digitally on our File Log Viewer software which can be downloaded free of charge from our website.

The MX 40 can be accessed remotely via Ethernet or GSM. A web page displays measurements and channel statuses in real time, and is accessible from any computer or wireless phone connected to the internet. This option also allows you to have SMS or email messages sent in the case of an alarm.
