Fluid conveyance on a global scale.

Danfoss has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Alfagomma, a global manufacturer of hoses and fittings headquartered in Vimercate (I). Alfagomma will become part of the Fluid Conveyance division, a core business within the Danfoss Power Solutions segment, creating a leading global player in fluid conveyance that strengthens the ability to serve customers globally.

Founded in 1956, Alfagomma is a privately owned global manufacturer and distributor of hoses and fittings under the brand names ALFAGOMMA, Dunlop Hiflex, and Argus. The company’s products are used in mobile hydraulics, industrial applications including mining and oil & gas, marine, shipbuilding, and other industries.

Alfagomma has a strong global presence with 28 production and assembly sites, about 4,500 employees, and sales of approximately €600 million.

Energy saving VSDs

The launch of its Vickers by Danfoss Variable Speed Drive (VSD) solutions in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa has just been announced. The Vickers by Danfoss portfolio features induction motor and servo motor VSD solutions, offering a broad range of power, dynamics, and control options. The VSDs save energy, cut costs, reduce heat and noise, and simplify configuration and commissioning. The modular offering fits most industrial hydraulic application needs and machine types, with particular relevance in discrete and process manufacturing.

Comprising a hydraulic pump, electric motor, and frequency drive with control logic, Vickers by Danfoss VSD systems improve the energy efficiency and performance of hydraulic machines by intelligently varying the speed of the electric motor and pump to precisely match the demands of the duty cycle. This smart control technology eliminates the energy waste associated with traditional constant-speed systems, resulting in energy savings of up to 60%, depending on the machine’s duty cycle. Lowering energy consumption reduces operating costs while helping machine owners meet energy efficiency and/or sustainability targets.

The Vickers by Danfoss induction motor VSD solution features the PVM Code B axial piston pump, Danfoss VLT® AutomationDrive FC 302, and an asynchronous induction motor. Designed for systems with low dynamic and control requirements, the solution is suitable for 3- to 250-kilowatt applications (higher than 90 kW engineered to order). It offers speed and flow on demand with open-loop control. In comparison to traditional constant-speed architectures, the induction motor VSD system can reduce energy consumption by 20 to 40%, depending on duty cycle.

This servo motor VSD solution features the VGPS internal gear pump or PVMX axial piston pump (the latter currently engineered to order), a PMSM (servo) motor, and a Danfoss iC7-Automation drive, including proprietary p/Q control software for closed-loop pressure/flow control. Designed for systems with high dynamic and control requirements, the solution is suitable for 3- to 100-kW applications. It offers pressure and flow on demand with closed-loop control. The easily configurable p/Q control logic offers simple setup and integration, shortening design, installation, and commissioning time. The servo motor system can reduce energy consumption by 30 to 60%, depending on duty cycle. It can also simplify machine architecture and complexity, as the precise and highly dynamic pump speed control enables the elimination of separate pressure and flow control valves.

Both the induction and servo motor VSD solutions lower heat generation and reduce overall noise exposure. By improving energy efficiency, VSDs minimize heat generation, enabling downsizing or elimination of oil coolers and delivering lower total installed costs. Reducing heat also extends the life of seals and oil. When the motor and pump operate at lower speeds, the machine operator and those working nearby are exposed to less noise. Quieter operation enhances workplace safety and operator comfort, offers greater design flexibility in terms of power unit placement, and may reduce secondary noise reduction measures.

Vickers by Danfoss VSDs enable the downsizing of pumps and motors to cut costs and reduce space requirements. Because the system can utilize the full motor speed range rather than running at a fixed speed, pump displacement can be significantly smaller without changing the maximum available oil flow. A pump with smaller displacement requires less torque to deliver the same pressure, and because the high overload capability of electric motors can be used to deal with the short high-torque portions of the duty cycle, a smaller motor size can be selected. The smaller motor and pump shrinks the machine's footprint and installed power while improving the total cost of ownership.

Hydraulic hose.

Features the industry’s smallest corrugated hose bend radius for superior ease of installation.

The Aeroquip by Danfoss FC619C Corrugated Suction Hose, designed for hydraulic suction and return lines has just been launched. With its superior flexibility and resistance to high temperatures, abrasion, and vacuum collapse, FC619C is engineered to extend hose life and simplify installation. The hose is suitable for mobile and industrial equipment applications.

FC619C hose features the industry’s tightest corrugated hose bend radius. Its one-to-one ratio bend radius, combined with its reduced force to bend, makes the hose exceptionally easy to handle and install in tight spaces.

Built to exceed SAE 100R4 and ISO 18752 standards, FC619C hose is designed to ensure reliable, leak-free performance. The hose is constructed of a nitrile inner tube, helical wire between two textile reinforcement layers, and a DuraTUFF+ abrasion-resistant cover, which offers 100 times the abrasion resistance of standard rubber. The hose features a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to 135°C (-40°F to 275°F) with superior high-temperature performance. Its resistance to collapse and buckling maximizes hose lifespan, while its chemical resistance and Class 0 leakage per SAE J1176 provide reliable, leak-free operation.

Aeroquip by Danfoss FC619C Corrugated Suction Hose is available in -12 to -48 sizes (inner diameter of 0.75 to 3 inches/19 to 76.2 millimeters) and is qualified for use with Danfoss 1A and 1G fittings. Its working pressure ranges from 60 to 305 psi (4 to 21 bar), depending on size. The hose is MSHA and ABS approved. In addition to hydraulic applications, the hose is suitable for petroleum, fuel, lubricating oil, and water suction and transfer applications.

Hose fittings manufacturer acquired.

Hydro Holding based in Castello d’Argile (I) is to become part of Danfoss Power Solutions’ Fluid Conveyance division, led by Domenico Traverso. The Fluid Conveyance division is a leading global manufacturer of hoses and fittings with renowned brands, such as Aeroquip, Weatherhead, Hansen, and Waltech. The acquisition supports the division’s strategic focus to accelerate profitable growth in line with Danfoss’ LEAP 2030 strategy. Hydro Holding will strengthen Danfoss’ hose fittings portfolio and enable the company to become a leading player in Europe.

Solenoid-mounted microcontroller.

Danfoss Power Solutions has launched CAN 2 Current (C2C), a compact solenoid-mounted microcontroller designed to work with Danfoss cartridge valves, hydraulic integrated circuits (HICs), hybrid PVG/HIC valves, and open-circuit pumps. C2C connects the valve, HIC, or pump to the controller area network (CAN) bus, enabling accurate and efficient component actuation as well as simple diagnostics.

C2C is a high-performance device delivering repeatable and consistent control. The device communicates using CAN bus protocols to provide closed-loop current control on one or two outputs. C2C can be used with on/off and proportional solenoids and is available as either a single- or dual-channel device. The single-channel device commands one coil while the dual-channel device can command two coils sequentially. It is compliant with ISOBUS and SAE J1939 communication protocols.

C2C maximizes energy efficiency through peak-and-hold control technology. This feature reduces current in the hold phase to only the power required to maintain the solenoid’s position, thus holding the function. Using retention current on extended-hold functions, such as clamping, reduces energy consumption by up to 70%. This minimizes cooling needs and may reduce the battery capacity required in some types of battery-electric machinery.

The controller’s compact, robust design maximizes space efficiency as well as durability. C2C features resin-potted construction that offers protection from dust and dirt, as well as shock and vibration resistance. With its IP67 ingress protection rating, C2C is built to last in harsh off-highway environments.

By connecting the valve or pump to the CAN bus, C2C simplifies diagnostics. The CAN bus enables real-time communication between the C2C and the machine controller, enabling status messages to be shared with the operator via cabin display. This eliminates the need for manual troubleshooting to identify solenoid issues.

The actuators are configured within the PLUS+1® Service Tool, offering a familiar, easy-to-use setup platform. The C2C device’s configurable parameters include communication time guarding, dither, minimum and maximum current, and hold current.

Control for hydrostatic propel applications.

Combines the behaviors of load-dependent and load-independent controls into one unit.

The launch of Hybrid Load Control, a displacement control designed for the company’s H1P and MP1P hydraulic pumps has been announced by Danfoss Power Solutions. Intended for dual-mode hydrostatic propel applications in mobile machinery, Hybrid Load Control combines the behaviors of two control types into one unit: load-independent behavior (also known as electric displacement control or EDC) and load-dependent behavior (also known as non-feedback proportional electric control or NFPE). The patented control eliminates performance compromises, increasing operator comfort and productivity.

“Hybrid Load Control is a groundbreaking addition to our H1P and MP1P family of controls, combining the best of EDC and NFPE. You no longer have to choose between the two — it's truly a 'no compromises' solution,” said Abhijit Patwa, Director, Medium Power Portfolio Management, Hydrostatics, Danfoss Power Solutions. “Hybrid Load Control offers unparalleled flexibility and performance that no other control or system on the market can match. 

Many hydrostatically propelled machines — telehandlers, wheel loaders, street sweepers, and forestry equipment, for example — perform multiple tasks or have different operational modes. These machines benefit from both load-independent and load-dependent pump controls. Load-independent control delivers consistent speed and responsiveness regardless of the load or the terrain. Load-dependent control adapts to actual load conditions to deliver smooth hydrostatic braking and optimise power delivery. Until now, machine designers had to select only one control type for the machine’s hydrostatic pump. Danfoss’ Hybrid Load Control eliminates that compromise, delivering the best driving behavior regardless of the task. It improves hydrostatic braking smoothness in load-dependent mode, and it provides precise speed and instant response in load-independent mode. This superior driving performance increases operator comfort and productivity.

Hybrid Load Control is an integrated hardware/software solution offering machine designers the flexibility to define and optimise the vehicle’s driving behavior. The control works with the Danfoss PC036 microcontroller as part of the PC-PRO software package. The PLUS+1® compliant package enables the designer to set key parameters that determine the behavior, resulting in simple configuration.

Compared to conventional methods of achieving this dual behavior, Danfoss’ Hybrid Load Control improves system robustness, simplifies machine architecture, and minimises costs. The solution does not require additional sensors, thereby eliminating potential points of failure and additional costs. Reducing the number of components simplifies system design. In particular, the omission of sensors for complicated control strategies, such as swashplate angle or pressure sensors, eliminates the wire harness and calibration, thereby reducing startup time and service efforts.

Additionally, by optimising hydrostatic braking, the system minimises reliance on mechanical brakes. This reduction in mechanical brake usage decreases wear and further reduces total costs.

Valve with improved performance at lower price.

The next-generation Level 1 AxisPro® valve, rounding out the line of Vickers by Danfoss servo performance software-configurable proportional valves has just been launched. With a new digital amplifier and support for industry-leading network protocols, the valve offers advanced performance, control, and seamless connectivity. Complementing the valve’s launch is Pro-FX™ Configure v2, the redesigned software configuration platform featuring an intuitive interface, streamlined setup, and real-time tuning for faster and easier installations. AxisPro valves are ideal for demanding industrial hydraulic applications such as presses, machine tools, factory automation, and more.

These AxisPro valves offer an upgrade to the Vickers by Danfoss KBSDG proportional valve lineup, giving customers a smarter, faster, and fully connected motion control solution. Designed for seamless integration into a wide range of applications, the new valves feature a digital amplifier and support for widely used network protocols such as Profinet®, EtherCAT®, Ethernet/IP, and CANopen. The digital amplifier increases precision and improves tuning, enabling easier system optimization and enhanced performance. Through flow linearization, the valve delivers consistent, stable flow across all operating conditions. Dither and deadband adjustments eliminate valve stick-slip and dead zones, resulting in smooth and precise motion.

AxisPro valves feature a robust, high-performance design. The valves offer best-in-class power capacity and speed plus pressure gain of 2.05%. Ingress protection ratings of IP65 and IP67 plus ambient temperature ratings of 70°C (158°F) increase reliability. Optional corrosion resistance and extreme vibration resistance (up to 50g) further enhance the valve’s durability for use in severe applications.

The valves are software configurable, enabling quick and simple setup, tuning, and commissioning. The valves are programmed using Danfoss’ new Pro-FX™ Configure v2 software, which offers a streamlined step-by-step workflow for setup across control modes, including spool position, cylinder position, pressure, speed, or force.

Advanced tuning capabilities allow users to optimize control loops with real-time parameter adjustment, maximizing performance for specific loads, speeds, and conditions. AxisPro valves support configuration via USB, Ethernet, or CAN bus.

Its integral diagnostics facilitate rapid troubleshooting, minimizing system downtime. Top-mounted LED lights provide a real-time visual indicator of valve status, simplifying the identification of potential issues.

The two-stage KBHD15 will be available in 05, 07, 08, and 10 sizes (NG10, NG16, NG25, and NG32) in November 2025. The valves are ideal for a wide range of industries, including primary metals, rubber and plastics, wood processing, pulp and paper, oil and gas, and civil engineering.

For more advanced application needs, AxisPro Level 2 and Level 3 valves offer servo-performance with dual motion control. Level 2 valves enable onboard closed-loop motion control, simplifying PLC requirements and increasing dynamic performance. Level 3 valves add built-in pressure and temperature sensors to make commissioning and diagnostics even faster and easier.

Appointment at engineering leader.

Torben Christensen has been named Chief Financial Officer of Danfoss Power Solutions. Previously Chief Sustainability Officer and Head of Global Services, Danfoss Group, Christensen will join the Power Solutions Leadership Team (PSLT) and report directly to Daniel Winter, President of Danfoss Power Solutions. Winter previously served as CFO before assuming the role of President in January. Christensen is based at the company’s offices in Nordborg, Denmark.

As CFO, Christensen will be responsible for driving financial strategy and ensuring solid performance during strong growth and challenging market conditions. Christensen will lead the Finance and Functions team, which is responsible for ensuring financial compliance, delivering robust financial performance, and supporting strategic decision-making across Danfoss Power Solutions. He will also serve as the Power Solutions representative on the Danfoss Finance Board.

“I’ve had the pleasure to work with many talented Power Solutions executives and leaders over the years. To now stand beside them as an immediate colleague is a great opportunity,” Christensen said. “While this role represents a shift for me, I am not entering as a novice. I am eager to get started, to dive deep into the business, meet our amazing customers and partners, and uncover opportunities to improve our financial standing.”

“Throughout his many years in Global Services, Torben has been servicing Power Solutions from different functions, gaining vast knowledge of our factories and key processes,” added Daniel Winter, President, Danfoss Power Solutions. “He has been instrumental in many high-profile projects, and he has built an extensive network of colleagues throughout the business. Christensen brings nearly 30 years of Danfoss experience to his new role. He started his career in Corporate Treasury and then spent 27 years in Global Services, the company’s shared services organization, leading functional areas such as logistics, real estate, finance and accounting, and indirect procurement. Since 2017, he has been leading the Global Services organization. In 2023, he was named Chief Sustainability Officer in addition to his role as Head of Global Services.

Christensen currently serves as a board member for ProjectZero and STEAR, both started by Bitten & Mads Clausen's Foundation. He holds a graduate diploma in finance and accounting.

High-pressure relief valve.

The launch of a full-flow high-pressure relief valve (FHPRV) for the Danfoss H1B bent-axis motor has been announced. The FHPRV joins the counterbalance valve (CBV) in a portfolio of valves designed to enable the use of Danfoss high-power axial piston motors in open-circuit systems. The FHPRV enables machine designers to leverage the benefits of the H1B motor’s compact design and outstanding efficiency while also providing overpressure protection in high-power applications.

The FHPRV is a bolt-on valve that provides high-flow pressure relief at the motor, which is critical for motor protection in demanding applications. In the event of an extended overpressure situation, the valve enables the passage of up to 600 liters per minute of flow, depending on size, preventing damage to the motor and pump. The flow rate is among the highest available for this type of valve.

The compact solution offers full-flow relief functionality without a significant increase in motor size or circuit complexity. Other solutions, such as remote-mount manifolds, require more space and can increase cost and complexity.

Commonly used in closed-circuit propel applications, axial piston motors such as Danfoss H1 motors are also ideal for high-power open-circuit systems, including drilling functions, crushing and shredding functions, heavy-duty excavator attachments, and forestry applications.

“While typical open-circuit applications can make use of low-speed high-torque motors, higher pressure applications require higher power axial piston motors,” said Kenny Befus, High-Power Portfolio Manager, Hydrostatics division, Danfoss Power Solutions. “Danfoss H1 motors feature a delta pressure rating of up to 450 bar, 480 bar absolute, making them ideal for these scenarios. And now, with our full-flow high-pressure relief valve, we can provide a better match when it comes to power and pressure.”

The FHPRV can be stacked with other valves, such as the CBV, providing additional functionality based on application needs. It can also be used in closed-circuit applications.

The FHPRV is available in four configurations to suit the range of H1B motor displacements. DN19 works with the 60-cc motor, DN25 works with the 80-cc and 110-cc motors, DN32A works with the 160-cc motor, and DN32B works with the 210-cc and 250-cc motors.

New series of displays.

Offers greater design flexibility and faster time to market.

The Danfoss DM series of programmable displays has been expanded with the launch of the DM-Qt series. The DM-Qt display series supports Qt as a plug-in to PLUS+1® GUIDE, where user interface (UI) design can now be developed through the Qt framework — the new standard for creating embedded display UIs in the automobile industry. Qt offers greater design flexibility and ease of use, enabling displays to be programmed faster and reducing time to market.

In addition to faster, easier UI design, Qt tools enable reuse of templates across multiple device platforms and display brands. Elements of the UI design can be scaled per application requirements. This eliminates the need to create new UI designs from scratch for each different machine platform or display manufacturer.

“Designing graphical user interfaces for our DM displays using Qt tools should take about half as much time as it would with other programs due to its extensive library of preexisting elements and a seamless workflow between design and development,” said Herman Oberoi, Senior Portfolio Manager, Displays, Danfoss Power Solutions. “By supporting the industry standard solution for UI development, we now have a great hardware product with incredible design capabilities powered by Qt.”

DM-Qt displays enable graphical development in Qt Design Studio. Application programming is managed in Danfoss’ PLUS+1 GUIDE software, and the PLUS+1 Service Tool combines Qt-created graphics with application code to program DM-Qt displays. Danfoss will continue to offer its standard DM displays with UI design managed in VBSE, Danfoss’ proprietary graphics development tool within PLUS+1 GUIDE.

DM-Qt displays are available in the same sizes and with the same options as standard DM displays. Sizes include 7-inch, 10-inch, and 12-inch displays, with features such as outstanding sunlight and wide-angle viewability, automatic brightness adjustment, superior touch responsiveness, and rugged design with high ingress protection ratings.

New head of power.

Daniel Winter has been named president of Danfoss Power Solutions. He succeeds Eric Alström who, after 12 years with Danfoss, has decided to seek new challenges outside the company.

He joins the Danfoss Group Executive Team and takes over as President of Danfoss Power Solutions on January 1, 2025. He is well-prepared for the new role and has extensive experience within the company. He currently serves as Chief Financial Officer for Danfoss Power Solutions, where he plays a critical role on the Power Solutions Leadership Team (PSLT), driving the financial strategy and ensuring solid segment performance during strong growth and challenging market conditions.

“I’m excited to build on our strong foundation, great products and solutions, excellent customer relationships, and a fantastic and talented team with a history of delivering great results,” Daniel Winter said. “While the market presents challenges, we’re prepared to navigate them and take Power Solutions to the next level.”

Before his current position, Daniel Winter served as Senior Vice President, Head of Finance Functions, for Danfoss Group from 2017 to 2020, and as Senior Vice President, Finance and Controlling, at Sauer-Danfoss from 2013 to 2017. He holds a Master’s in managerial economics, controlling, and tax from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (D).

Autonomous off-highway machinery.

Danfoss Power Solutions today announced the launch of its PLUS+1® Autonomous Control Library (ACL) 3.2 software for off-highway machinery. PLUS+1 ACL 3.2 consists of new and updated blocks that enhance machine self-guidance capabilities through improved obstacle and hazard detection and environmental landmark identification.

“Better productivity, safety, and efficiency for end users, along with ease and speed of development for OEMs, is increasing the uptake of autonomous machines. ACL 3.2 delivers on both fronts,” said Adam Khaw, Head of Autonomy, Danfoss Power Solutions. “We will continue to work closely with our customers to enhance this world-class software platform, enabling OEMs to develop and manufacture high-quality machines that set a new benchmark for speed to market.”

This software comprises preprogrammed and pretested software blocks covering areas such as perception, positioning, and navigation. The software enables users to add autonomous functionality to mobile machinery by integrating the blocks into their machine software applications, eliminating the need to develop software from scratch. Designed for in-house engineering teams at original equipment manufacturers and distributors, PLUS+1 ACL software reduces development time and costs.

PLUS+1 ACL 3.2 includes the following new and updated software blocks:

  • Post Detect improves localization by identifying and using rectangular posts around the machine as landmarks, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Reflector Detect identifies reflectors in the machine’s surroundings, which can be used to define the machine’s path or improve its location within the environment.
  • Projected Path Area creates zones in the machine’s immediate trajectory to better detect obstacles when the machine is turning.
  • Obstacle Detect Area enables defined zones to be created around the machine, which can be used to stop or adjust machine motion when an obstacle is detected within these zones.
  • Lidar Filter improves performance in foggy and dusty conditions by reducing noise from the incoming lidar signal, providing more accurate and efficient detection capabilities with fewer false positives.

The new and updated ACL 3.2 blocks enhance Level 3 autonomous functionality by helping prevent collisions and improving machine positioning when GPS is not available. Level 3 autonomy introduces automated driving features to mobile machinery, enabling task consistency regardless of operator experience. This improves precision and productivity while enhancing safety.

Industrial hydraulic valve.

The Vickers® by Danfoss portfolio of proportional valves has been expanded with the launch of the KBFRG4-5 valve. The new single-stage, four-way hydraulic valve features a round solenoid design and delivers high power capacity and superior durability. The valve is designed for a range of industrial applications, including wind turbines, machine tools, plastic molding, metal forming, pulp and paper processing, and more.

The KBFRG4-5 proportional valve features a market-leading maximum pressure rating of 350 bar and a maximum flow of 290 liters per minute at 57 bar, delivering higher power capacities than other valves on the market. Its competitive step response of 20 milliseconds further adds to its superior performance capabilities.

Engineered to withstand the toughest conditions, the KBFRG4-5 proportional valve features an IP67 ingress protection rating and a robust metal housing for increased vibration and shock resistance (7.8 g random, 50 g shock). A high corrosion resistance option is also available. The valve complies with industry standard certifications, including CE, UKCA, REACH, RoHS, and EMI/EMC.

Four-wire spiral hose launched.

Danfoss Power Solutions has launched its Aeroquip® by Danfoss GH493 four-wire spiral hose in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). This premium hydraulic hose meets or exceeds four key industry standards in flexibility, lifetime, and working pressure — EN856 Type R12, EN856 Type 4SP, SAE 100R12, and ISO 18752 — offering reliable performance in demanding high-pressure mobile and industrial machinery applications.

With its tighter minimum bend radius, GH493 hose offers greater flexibility for use in cramped spaces. This flexibility provides more design freedom and easier installation. It can also reduce the hose lengths required, which lowers costs and machine weight. The hose’s minimum bend radius is, on average, 58% tighter than EN856 Type 4SP and 50% tighter than EN856 Type R12 standards.

GH493 hose offers long in-application lifetime, maximizing machine uptime and reducing maintenance and hose replacement costs. Hose sizes -6 to -16 are tested up to 1 million impulse cycles, and hose sizes -20 to -32 are tested up to 500,000 impulse cycles, higher than the requirements of SAE 100R12, EN856 Type 4SP, and EN856 Type R12.

GH493 hose delivers better average pressure performance than industry standards, enabling use in a broad range of hydraulic systems as well as the creation of more power-dense machines. The hose exceeds the requirements, on average, of SAE 100R12 by 30%, EN856 Type 4SP by 19% (sizes -10 to -32), and EN856 Type R12 by 32%. It meets ISO 18752 constant pressure standards.

For increased durability, GH493 hose incorporates the Danfoss Dura-Tuff® cover, which is up to eight times more abrasion resistant than standard synthetic hose covers. The material extends hose lifetime while reducing the chances of a hose failure due to abrasion.

GH493 hose is compatible with Danfoss 4S series spiral fittings. Featuring Dura-Seal™ technology, these high-performance fittings enable better sealing and leak-free operations (Class 0 leakage per SAE J1176). Customized multi-bent fittings are also available.

GH493 hose is available in sizes -6 to -32. It is suitable for operating temperatures of -40°C to 126°C and features working pressures ranging from 275 to 448 bar, depending on size. The hose is ideal for higher pressure hydraulic systems in construction and mining machinery as well as oil and gas and wind power equipment.

New Global VP for automation company.

Danfoss Power Solutions has appointed Sriram (Shree) Gurumurthy as Senior Vice President of Global Operations, effective immediately. Previously Vice President of Global Manufacturing Strategy, Gurumurthy will continue reporting directly to Eric Alström, President of Danfoss Power Solutions, and will join the Power Solutions Leadership Team. He is based in Eden Prairie (MN USA)

He will oversee multiple key business functions, including safety, environment, health, and quality; supply chain; manufacturing footprint strategy; Danfoss Business Systems; indirect procurement; manufacturing systems and services; distribution centers; and communications and events.

“Throughout my years in manufacturing, I’ve seen what works and what doesn’t in driving operational excellence,” Shree Gurumurthy said. “Applying standardized processes, tools, and systems is one of the factors proven to work, and I’ll ensure our functions are second to none in this area. Gurumurthy joined Eaton Corporation in 2007, where he held several leadership roles in plant management, operations, and global manufacturing strategy. He has more than 25 years of manufacturing experience

He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Bharathiar University, India; a master’s degree in industrial and manufacturing engineering from Western Michigan University, US; and a master’s degree in business administration from Case Western Reserve University, US.

Elevating work platforms.

The ePanda eDrive for low-voltage applications has been launched by Danfoss


Designed as a propel solution for mobile elevating work platforms, the ePanda eDrive is an integrated compact power system comprising an electric motor, microcontroller unit, and reduction gearbox that maximizes efficiency, reliability, and safety. The eDrive joins the ePowerpack in Danfoss’ ePanda series of products for low-voltage electrification.

“OEMs specializing in low-voltage machines have been among the first to embark on the electrification journey. However, technology limitations and the efficiency of electrified systems currently on the market have fallen short of customer requirements,” said Derek You, Low Voltage business unit lead and head of Editron China, Danfoss Power Solutions. “We designed our ePanda low-voltage system solutions to help these OEMs unlock the complete benefits of electrification. With our innovative solutions, including the ePowerpack and now the eDrive, we’re electrifying positive change throughout the off-highway industry.”

The ePanda eDrive’s permanent magnet synchronous motor maximizes propel system efficiency, reducing battery consumption and thereby extending machine runtime. The eDrive offers peak efficiency of 94% compared to 85% for competitive AC induction motor systems. It maintains high efficiency throughout its operating range, with system efficiency 17% to 31% higher than AC systems at various speeds. Average efficiency improvement is 20%.

Designed to be the most compact drive solution on the market, it simplifies machine integration and installation. Compared to the next best alternative, the eDrive is 20% shorter in length and 23% lower in weight. As a fully integrated solution, the eDrive reduces the number of parts and labor hours required for installation.

The unit's integrated design also provides high durability and reliability. Ingress protection ratings of IP67 (motor) and IP65 (controller) make it suitable for extreme environments. The braking system is durable and replaceable, and with its strong gearbox in the leading position, risk of oil leakage is minimized.

With overspeed protection and superior inching control, the eDrive delivers a smoother, easier driving experience for operators. Its high controllability prevents rollback during hill starts and stops, while its high power enables gradeability of up to 30% and speeds of up to 6.4 kilometers per hour. The eDrive is CE compliant and its safety stop and speed limitation functions meet ISO 13849 performance level D requirements, maximizing operational safety while ensuring suitability for use in global markets.

Hydraulic remote control portfolio.

Danfoss Power Solutions has announced the global launch of its portfolio of high-performance hydraulic remote controls. Designed to withstand extreme and harsh environments, the Danfoss DHRC line increases machine productivity through superior controllability and operator comfort, plus customizable, robust designs offering high reliability. Danfoss’ hydraulic remote control range includes the DHRCJ joystick, DHRCP foot pedal, and DHRCD sectional valve. The controls are ideal for excavators, skid steer loaders, backhoe loaders, wheel loaders, forklifts, truck cranes, aerial work platforms, telehandlers, and drilling machinery.

“Danfoss has over 30 years of experience in developing hydraulic remote controls. We’ve offered these products on a limited basis to select customers, but we’re now ready to scale production and bring the benefits to the broader global market. DHRCJ joystick options include seven switch boxes, four grips, four boots, and four bodies. The DHRCP pedal is available in seven styles, including single and double pedals, with five bellows and seven body options. The DHRCD sectional valve offers 11 lever and bar designs, four boots, and six body options.

The Danfoss DHRC range is designed for comfortable use with minimal effort, which increases productivity. The joystick features an ergonomically designed handle with a comfortable hand rest. Its grip can be configured with a comprehensive set of finger functions, enabling true personalization based on individual preferences and operational requirements.

With its robust designs, DHRC controls ensure high quality and reliability. The joystick’s valve is protected from dust by outer and inner boots. It features a strong rod seal that provides long life and low friction sealing. The DHRCJ joystick switch box is rated to IP68, while the proportional switch is rated to IP69K, offering high levels of ingress protection.

The joystick and double pedal have a rated flow of 20 L/min, while the sectional valve has a rated flow of 10 L/min. Various output pressure and operating torque options are available, and consistent performance is guaranteed over a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to 60°C.

New HR VP.

Danfoss Power Solutions has appointed Jessica Zhang as vice president of Human Resources, effective June 3. Zhang will report directly to Eric Alström, president of Danfoss Power Solutions, and will join the Power Solutions Leadership Team. She will also represent Danfoss Power Solutions on the Danfoss Group HR Leadership Team. Zhang is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, U.S.

Zhang brings more than 25 years of experience in human resources management to her new role, including expertise in HR strategy, organizational design and development, leadership development, and diversity and inclusion. She has worked in and with employee groups around the world, including North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.

Prior to joining Eaton, Zhang spent 10 years at global HR consultancy Hewitt Associates (now part of Aon). During her time there, she gained extensive experience consulting for some of the world's leading companies.

Zhang holds a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor of Science from East China University of Science and Technology.

Danfoss Power Solutions has launched its on-site hose assembly workshop program. The program brings hydraulic hose replacement and repair capabilities directly to construction, oil and gas, mining, and other sites where hydraulic equipment operates, minimising operational disruptions.

These on-site hose assembly workshops are fully equipped mobile containers stocked with the specific Danfoss hoses, fittings, and tooling to suit the needs of the work site. The workshops enable on-the-spot hose assembly creation and repair 24 hours a day, seven days a week, minimizing equipment downtime and associated costs.

Hose assembly workshops are ideal for sites where timely access to replacement and repair is critical. A hose malfunction at a remote location, for example, may require long-distance travel or equipment transportation, or an extended wait for a shipment to arrive. With an on-site workshop, staff can quickly and conveniently repair or replace hose assemblies with the exact hose and fitting types in use at the site.

“Unforeseen equipment breakdowns and maintenance issues can lead to costly downtime. Fluid conveyance division head appointed.

Domenico Traverso has been appointed as the president of its Fluid Conveyance division of Danfoss Power Solutions, effective June 1. In addition to his new role, Traverso will continue to serve as president, Incubation division, and lead the Business Development and Innovation function. Traverso reports directly to Eric Alström, president of Danfoss Power Solutions, and plays a key role on the Power Solutions Leadership Team. He is based at the company’s offices in Hamburg (D).

Prior to Danfoss, Traverso held a variety of management roles at GKN Automotive. He has more than 20 years of experience, specializing in turnarounds, mergers and acquisitions, carve-outs, and post-merger integrations.
