The death has been announced of Bob Gilbert last week.
Well known in the Irish automation industry he was founder of Manotherm in the 1960s. Originally in Corn Exchange Buildings in Dublin city centre. It then moved to its current location on the Walkinstown Road.
His sometimes gruff manner hid an honest and trustworthy business man not without a droll sense of humour. He dealt with his customers honestly and expected to be treated in the same way.
He was a staunch supporter of Read-out when it was a printed periodical and there was always a hearty welcome when the writer called. He was alway interested in what was happening in the world of Irish instrumentation.
We extend our condolences to his wife and partner, Amy and to his son Robert.
His death notice may be viewed here.
