Displaying connectors.

A Mini Displayport has been added to Cliff Electronics' range of FeedThrough connectors. Assembled into an industry standard XLR connector panel cut out the Mini DisplayPort (MiniDP or mDP) is a miniaturised version of the widely used DisplayPort audio-visual digital interface.

John Hall, Managing Director of Cliff Electronics, comments; “We have a large market supplying pro-audio, broadcast and audio-visual OEMs and systems integrators. Our new Mini Displayport adds to our very successful range of FeedThrough connectors and comes a step closer to making us a one stop shop for system designers. All of our FeedThrough connectors are mounted in the widely used XLR footprint simplifying panel design and manufacture and improving system aesthetics. We can also supply our new Mini Displayport connectors pre-assembled into rack panels offering systems integrators fast and convenient system assembly.”

Frequently fitted to PC and notebook motherboards and AV Systems, unlike its Mini-DVI and Micro-DVI predecessors, the Mini DisplayPort can drive display devices with resolutions up to 2560×1600 (WQXGA) in its DisplayPort 1.1a implementation, and 4096×2160 (4K) in its DisplayPort 1.2 implementation. With an adapter, the Mini DisplayPort can drive display devices with VGA, DVI, or HDMI interfaces.

Cliff’s XLR format FeedThrough connectors take advantage of the standard 24mm panel cut out widely used in audio and broadcast systems and which is finding increasing popularity instrumentation, medical and industrial applications due to the format’s flexibility, security and reliability.

A true FeedThrough connector, the new Cliff Mini Displayport is connected on both sides of the control panel using standard cables, greatly simplifying system assembly. It is available with a plastic or metal faceplate, may be front or rear mounted to a panel and offers plain, countersunk or M3 threaded mounting holes.

Cliff’s Feedthrough connectors now provide Analogue, Digital and Optical Feed-Through connectivity in formats including Firewire, GJ45, HDMI A-A and 50 ohm BNC versions, USB2 A-to-B and B-to-A “gender change” sockets high speed USB Type – C, USB3 to USB3 in all gender changing configurations - A-A, A-B and B-A. Also available are all popular data and Ethernet connectors including USB 2.0 and 3.0, LC and SC fibre (Duplex & Simplex), UTP and FTP RJ45s in both Cat6 and Cat5e (shielded and unshielded), Toslink, RCA Phono and HDMI and blanking plates.
