Bluetooth with HART.

Many modern mobile devices only support Bluetooth Low Energy. iOS mobile devices in particular only support Bluetooth Low Energy. The world’s first Bluetooth Low Energy HART Modem has been launched by ProComSol.

According to Jeffrey Dobos, President of ProComSol, Ltd, “As new communication technology is adopted and grows, industrial users want (and need) to take advantage of it. Bluetooth 4.0, which includes Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), offers many advantages over older Bluetooth standards making it an ideal technology for mobile device communications.”

The HM-BLE, HART Modem, Bluetooth Low Energy takes full advantage of the low energy features of the Bluetooth 4.0 standard. The modem contains a rechargeable Li-Ion battery that will last for days on a single charge. The lower energy demand on the connected mobile device also allows longer device life between recharges.

The HM-BLE, in combination with a Smart Device Communicator App on a mobile device becomes a full functioned, DD based, HART Communicator. A HART communicator that uses DD’s can perform full configurations of Valves, Multi-Variable devices, and complex devices such as Radar Level and Coriolis Flow meters.

Because the connection between the HM-BLE HART modem and the hand held device is wireless, user safety and comfort is ensured. There are no wires to tangle or trip over. The user can configure hard to reach HART devices safely from the ground. In bad weather the user can stay comfortable in a convenient location and still perform necessary work on the HART device.
