Expert industrial networking advice and training brought directly to the customer

Mobile Training and Technology Centre makes industrial communications learning easy
To support British system design and application engineers wanting to keep up with the latest industrial communications developments, Westermo has unveiled a new Mobile Training and Technology Centre. Recognising that it can be difficult to find the time to attend conferences, exhibitions and training courses, the Mobile Training and Technology Centre will make it easier for engineers to learn about the latest technologies by bringing working examples and technical experts directly to their door.

Their Mobile Training and Technology Centre will visit companies across Grait Britain, offering engineers the ideal opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a broad range of industrial communication devices. Engineers will also be able to discuss their individual industrial networking requirements with Westermo’s technical experts and gain access to a range of onsite training courses. As well as eliminating any travel or accommodation costs the Mobile Training and Technology Centre provides a controlled learning environment to maximise training time.

“We recognise that it can be difficult for engineers to find the time to attend conferences, exhibitions and training courses to learn about the latest technologies,” said Alan Bollard, Managing Director of Westermo UK. “Supporting Westermo’s philosophy of making industrial communications easy, our new Mobile Training and Technology Centre will come directly to manufacturing sites providing a unique opportunity for engineers to update their knowledge, with minimal impact on their normal daily routine.”

The Mobile Training and Technology Centre is equipped with networked product displays incorporating industrial modems, line extenders and Ethernet switches. These are arranged to show the evolution of industrial communications technology, with devices becoming more robust and reliable, offering increased network resilience and now incorporating easy-to-use management software and network security features. Audio-visual systems will provide interactive demonstrations of the WeOS operating system as well as training presentations and product capability videos.

“Within the UK manufacturing, process and utilities industries, we see an industrial data communications knowledge gap emerging,” said Bollard. “The Mobile Training and Technology Centre, supported by our technical experts, will remove the mystique that can sometimes surround industrial communications products and help to bridge this gap.”

The Mobile Training and Technology Centre supports a range of training courses to be delivered at a customer’s premises, including a new one-day IP training course.
