Here's to the next fifty years!

Sláinte!
Last July we reported on the excellent circulation figures for the International Society of Automation's (ISA) "hidden jewel" ISA Transactions (ISAT) in our article The Journal of Automation notches up another advance. The journal has been so successful that has now graduated to a bi-monthly from a quarterly. What we did not mention was the the journal was also marking its 50th year of publication.

This month, the new editor, Dr Ahmad B Rad marks the event as follows: "The fine tradition starting in 1962 continues and the hard work of many individuals in the last fifty years has facilitated establishing a solid foundation for even further growth.”

To mark the occasion the former editor of many years Professor Russell Rhinehart has penned what he calls "a fast journey to evolution of the journal and implicitly the history of control and instrumentation.”

A link to this is included in an article, ISA Transactions shares 50 years of history, on the ISA's newly instituted ISA Interchange published today.

• Incidentally if you are a member of ISA you have access to the wealth of articles published in ISAT down the years at no cost.
