#Maintec Focus on FM

In the current economic climate the care and good husbandry of an organisation’s assets can pay rich rewards. In this often neglected area, MCP consultants can quickly show where savings could be made with good paybacks possibly seen in months and with a real ROI increasing to a typical 200% in 2 years!

Among the highlights on this year’s stand at Maintec (Stand 3 - 2-4 March 2011) will be a Focus on FM- a new 3 day Facilities Management Assessment. This facilities assessment is based on MCPs AMIS Audit (Maintenance Benchmarking Service) and has been used by countless organisations, world-wide to measure and improve their Maintenance and Asset Management Performance.

Now MCP’s AMIS FM is available for, Facilities Management service providers and organisations with Facilities Management services.

Visitors are invited to take the test on our stand and answer a number of questions to see how many ‘ticks’ you achieve. Our consultants will help you decide on the last ‘big’ question. “Perhaps I should consider the benchmarking exercise?”

Following on the theme MCP launches a new City and Guilds-Asset Management Tools Course. MCP’s Customised Asset Management Tools and Techniques Course explains why a Maintenance Strategy is critical for successful business performance. The City and Guilds Accredited course is designed to introduce best practice theory. There will be discounts available on the stand for early adopters!

For those visitors wanting to find out more about the new BSI, PAS55 programme, The Institute of Asset Management has appointed MCP , as one of only 10 endorsed training providers in the world for delivering courses which map clearly to the latest IAM Competences Framework (November 2008), and complement those of BSI PAS 55:2008.

#Maintec Easy maintenance on compressed air systems

Michell Instruments’ range of dew-point and relative humidity instruments and their oxygen analyzers are designed to make many routine maintenance and monitoring tasks quick and simple. Michell are exhibiting a range of these products at Maintec, from 29 to 31 March 2011, on stand C23.

Included on the stand will be Michell’s smallest and fastest portable dew-point hygrometer, the MDM300. At just 21cm by 17cm, weighing 1.5kg, and with a battery life of up to 48 hours typical usage, it enables the user to take field moisture measurements with the minimum of fuss. The fast response means that many more measurements can be taken each day – allowing for more productivity and also more time free for other tasks.

The unit is easy to use: its ergonomic design means that all the buttons are easily operated with the thumbs while the instrument is held comfortably in both hands. All measurement parameters are available at the touch of a button and the password-protected set-up menu is simple to navigate and intuitive to use. Both instrument set-up and downloading of logged data are easy with a Bluetooth connection that comes as standard.

Their range of Easidew Dew-Point Transmitters are ideal for a host of applications where constant monitoring of moisture levels are key – such as compressed air systems and dessicant dryers. All Easidew Transmitters are available as part of a calibration exchange program, which enables users to keep up-to-date calibration certification with virtually no downtime and at a fraction of the cost of buying new replacement sensors.

The Calibration Exchange programme is ideal where periodic re-certification is required to maintain traceability. Before the re-calibration of an instrument is due, the customer orders an Exchange Sensor from Michell Instruments or one of its local representatives. Once received at the customer's premises the original sensor is removed and replaced with the Exchange Sensor, and the original sensor returned to Michell Instruments. Each calibration exchange sensor comes with a traceable calibration certificate as standard.

Michell are represented in Ireland by Instrument Technology Ltd.

Condition monitoring

Participation in British maintenance event

With the growing awareness of the importance of condition monitoring of rotating machinery and especially that of electric motors, Whitelegg Machines have again invited Tim Thomas, Senior Engineer of Baker Instrument Company, to join them at Maintec 2010 (02- 04/03/2010) Tim will be able to bring his wide expertise to focus on visitors’ queries on the stand.

This is an automated system for the monitoring of electrical rotating equipment. The instrument will monitor 40+ parameters on up to 32 motors, and on up to 7 voltage busses. Benefits to the user include automated evaluation of critical assets from the convenience of your office or anywhere an internet connection is available. With the ability to monitor multiple motors simultaneously, this instrument will supply valuable data along with saving a tremendous amount of time in comparison with route-based instrumentation.

It will notify the user of alarm situations, maintain all database functionality and trend all data for enhanced analysis. Tests include power quality, rotor bar integrity, torque ripple, and transient analysis of motor start ups.
