CAD Envelope Geometry for Performance and IP Protection.

The latest version of CoreTechnologie's 3D_Evolution Simplifier software now offers special applications and interfaces for Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Digital Factory. Clever features reduce large assemblies by up to 97 percent.

Two-step Simplification Process
With the new application, it is possible to further simplify the lightweight solid envelope geometry CAD models created by the Simplifier process in a second step, which is an polygon reduction function for tessellated formats, especially for VR/AR as well as factory planning software tools. In the first step, the inner geometry is removed and a closed CAD solid envelope geometry is automatically generated. This is followed by an automatic deletion of interior components and an optional filtering of solids with small volumes. For the generation of exact CAD models, the optimum is reached after this first step.

To convert the models into tessellated formats such as VRML, FBX, OBG or JT, the next step achieves a predefined percentage reduction of the polygons within seconds using the new polygon reduction function. This extreme reduction in the number of elements to be rendered achieves a much higher performance and fluid rendering, for example, when animating very large assemblies.

The Simplifier automatically generates lightweight CAD envelope geometries for optimal performance in all downstream applications as well as during further processing in the CAD system.

Know-how Protection and optimum Data Quality
The envelopes generated with Simplifier also protect the know-how and enable secure data exchange with development partners, customers and suppliers. The tool processes over 40 different formats, including CATIA, XT, CREO,NX, Solidworks as well as DGN, IFC, JT and STEP without access to a CAD license and ensures optimum quality of import models through automatic checking and correction functions.

Three D printing plus.

The development team of the software provider CoreTechnologie has extended the innovative 3D printing software 4D_Additive with a new function: From now on, 3D printing components can be marked automatically with a new labeling tool. The traceability of the manufacturing position as well as an automated generation of unique and reliable identification numbers are important features to be used in a productive additive manufacturing environment.

The texture module of the latest 4D_Additive 1.2 version allows the rule-based and automatic creation of sequential identification numbers as labels on the parts. The numbers are created based on the position on the building platform. By this means, labeled components such as test specimen can be created without time-consuming manual work. The markings allow conclusions about surface quality or material properties depending on the position of the part on the building platform. The position of the markings can be defined as desired by using CAD models, so-called B-Rep solids. Multiple markings on one body or surface are possible, too.

The rules for generating the labeling depend on the position in X, Y or Z direction. In addition, automatically generated information about the respective part, such as center of gravity, manufacturing position, date or part size, can be used to generate ID numbers. Numerous other parameters for alignment, height or indentation and font size can be set. All installed Windows fonts are available.

In the next version of the software, which is expected to be launched in autumn 2020, it will be possible to read out image information such as QR codes or ID number codes from external tools and automatically apply as labels on 3D printing parts.

Digital Factory Planning.

In digital factory environments engineers very often face the challenge of too detailed CAD models generating heavy data and therefore preventing a smooth handling in factory planning software tools. A new 3D_Evolution Simplifier function now automatically generates envelope geometry especially for all major visualization tools. Due to the strong reduction in the number of elements, the Simplifier enables a smooth and fast processing of large CAD models.

The latest version of renowned conversion and simplification software 3D_Evolution Simplifier of the German-French company CoreTechnologie (CT) is now also available with a new DGN interface, completing the wide range of interfaces and formats for all major digital factory planning tools.

The 3D_Evolution software reads 3D formats such as CATIA, JT, CREO, NX, Solidworks and STEP without a CAD license and automatically generates envelope geometries based on the exact, original model. The unique technology extracts the inner geometry of the models and creates an outer shell as a closed volume for conversion into CAD or factory planning systems such as Microstation, Process Simulate or PDMS. In addition to deleting the internal geometry, holes, fonts, radii and other details that are unnecessary for the planning process are also removed. Subsequently, the internal bodies can be identified and automatically deleted by a so called "Shrinkwrap" tool. Thereby, only bodies that are visible from the outside and relevant for the planning process, are retained. In all stages of simplification and conversion healing functions ensure that geometry errors in the CAD models are analyzed and cleaned up in order to generate volume bodies, i.e. closed solid geometry.

A new simplifier function enables even further simplification by creating minimal envelope bodies. Details such as energy chains or special section tubes are replaced by envelopes, which after simplification only contain a fraction of the original amount of data. The automatic process, which is very quick even when simplifying large amounts of data, reduces the elements of typical assemblies by up to 95 percent. Formats like DGN for Microstation or JT and STEP allow the transfer to the common visualization systems.

The simplification enables an impressive compression of the CAD models. In this way, large CAD assemblies such as robot cells or conveying systems are simplified in a very short time and can be handled after conversion in the factory planning software.

With 3D_Evolution CAD assembly structures can easily be converted into a functional product structure which necessary for the simulation. With just a few clicks, the user disassembles or "flattens" the original assembly structure in order to merge the parts of the simplified model in such a way that subassemblies and bodies that belong together in terms of the simulation are restructured in a new and now functional orientated assembly structure.

Automated calculation of the optimal packaging.

CoreTechnologie GmbH (CT) has added another innovation to the 3D_Evolution Simplifier software: As the first software on the market, the latest version of the Simplifier now allows for a fully automatic calculation of the smallest sphere diameter that surrounds a part or an assembly. With the new function, additional to the generation of a reduced envelope geometry models the Simplifier enables a time-saving and automated calculation of the optimal packaging.

In addition to the diameter calculation according to DIN EN ISO 8062-1, minimal packaging dimensions can be calculated in the form of a box and output as a CAD model of any major format. The determination of the smallest possible packaging dimensions, i.e. the smallest possible space, is used, for example, to optimize logistics costs and to minimize the cost of materials for packaging individual parts or assemblies with a very complex shape. In the past, this used to be a time-consuming manual process that can now be carried out automatically within seconds.

The 3D_Evolution Simplifier software is used by leading companies for fast and automatic data simplification as well as for the conversion of CAD models of all common formats such as Catia, NX, Solidworks, Creo, Inventor, Step, JT and many more. The creation of an envelope geometry is the solution to work smoothly and quickly with extensive and often too detailed 3D original data in CAD, VR and simulation systems. In terms of data quality, the tool enables the conversion of perfect solid models through data analysis and correction functions. In addition to protecting the know-how by creating the envelope models, the sophisticated technology at the same time also significantly reduces the file size as well as the elements that have to be displayed.

Mobile analysis - 3D and 2D CAD Viewer.

The powerful 3D_Analyzer Viewer of CoreTechnologie (CT) comprises in the current version 4.3 a new license-borrowing function that allows to use the software for a limited time for example on a laptop. Already the inexpensive basic version of 3D_Analyzer includes 24 different interface formats, such as CATIA V5/V6, NX, Inventor SolidWorks, Creo, STEP, JT as well as FBX and OBJ. In addition, the new version also reads major 2D drawing formats.

The 3D_Analyzer professional version of the Viewer provides outstanding analysis capabilities that are usually available only in much more expensive CAD systems. For assemblies, the model comparison as well as a collision and clearance check are available. Models can also be analyzed for wall thicknesses, draft angles, undercuts and projected areas. Thus, the Viewer is the ideal tool for users who sometimes use a CAD system for viewing and detailed analysis, but in general do not design or edit the parts. The flexible viewer helps to relax the license utilization of expensive CAD licenses and thus significantly reduces costs. A special highlight of the professional Viewer is the possibility to save all imported CAD models as JT or 3D PDF files.

The future-oriented version 4.3 of the 3D_Analyzer fully supports the advanced 3D master technology. Thus CAD models from V5, NX and Creo as well as from STEP AP 242 and JT can be read including dimensions, tolerances as well as the predefined views, so-called captures. The use of the 3D Master eliminates the need for 2D drawings, since in the 3D model all information relevant for production is available and combined by means of the different captures. Among other things, intelligent 3D master models enable paperless production and avoid differences between 3D and 2D data. The clever technology is currently gaining importance for the integrated production process in the context of Industry 4.0. With the 3D_Analyzer Viewer, 3D master models can also be used on lightweight, cost-effective tablets.

Software for 3D Data Exchange.

The current version of the conversion software “3D Evolution 4.0 SP2” makes it possible for the first time to automatically take over material specifications during the JT data exchange.

The SP2 version of the universal converter “3D Evolution 4.0” from Core Technologie offers innovative optimisation of the workflow during data exchange: When generating JT/PLMXML files the complete material specification is now automatically taken over. 3D Evolution is a conversion software for multi-CAD environments that enables a loss free data exchange for all major systems and formats, such as Siemens Nx, Catia, Solidworks, Inventor and Creo as well as Parasolid, Acis and STEP.

The latest version of the innovative conversion software is a huge timesaver for users especially in case of large assemblies with several hundred components and different materials.

The current material table in the supplier portal is used as a text file template for the conversion process. Especially users of CATIA V5 will benefit from the new function: During data generation by using “DC Master”, the current material specifications are fully automatically written into the JT files during conversion.

The converter “3D Evolution” is certified for JT data exchange by the Daimler AG as well as the “Verband der Automobilindustriee.V.” (German Association of the Automotive Industry) for the standard 4955/2. This innovative software is successfully used by about 500 companies worldwide for the data exchange between all common CAX systems.
