Display kit bundle.

Immediate availability of a new pre-assembled kit bundle - a Raspberry Pi 5 Board, a 10.1" Capacitive Touch Screen Display, and PowerPRO, a 5.1V Power PCB and USB-C Adaptor designed specifically for the Raspberry Pi 5, has been announced by Inalco Hunter.

The PowerPRO board solves the problem of needing multiple power supplies when integrating the Pi5 with a display. Any additional peripherals can be effortlessly added, consolidating the power management into one convenient hub.

Engineered to streamline the Pi 5 set-up, the PowerPRO is an innovative solution allowing connection of the new Pi 5 to a display using the PowerPRO as the single power source (5v to 18v). Multiple output connections deliver a consistent 6A rating. Inelco Hunter’s new 10.1” TFT (D90101 series) Touch Panel offers a “ready to go” integrated display solution with the Pi 5.

Also included in the kit is a Connector and Cable Accessory Pack and a Mounting Pack for Raspberry Pi board – everything that's needed to get the display up and running. The seamless Pi 5 integration offers an extensive range of application possibilities, such as building management systems, precision in medical laser equipment, efficiency in fleet vehicle tracking systems, or innovation in laser welding equipment.

A versatile range of mounting accessories and cables provides flexibility for placement in various configurations. The PowerPRO features standard RPI mounting hole spacing, and multiple output connections are provided: USB-C, 2.54mm, 6-pin JST. The maximum continuous current is 6A and there is built-in thermal shutdown protection for overcurrent situations. The PowerPRO is UL recognised and RoHS compliant.

The kit offers cost savings compared with purchasing the items individually and is available from the Inelco Hunter warehouse for prompt delivery.

OT and IT.

The convergence of IT and OT monitoring.

The Centreon 23.10 software release among multiple enhancements, significantly simplifies the monitoring of industrial and edge environments by leveraging Raspberry Pi, a robust mini server on which a monitoring poller can run. This new application enables unprecedented visibility into industrial processes, assets, and infrastructure while reducing the cost and complexity of monitoring.

New dashboard interface
Simplifying IT and OT monitoring convergence for organizations.
Operational technologies (OT) are increasingly connected to business applications running in the data center or in the cloud, so these environments must now be monitored with the same care as IT environments. But until now, there has been no easy way to do this.

In the context of IT and OT convergence, energy, transportation, utilities, and manufacturing organizations can now easily monitor IT and OT operations using Centreon software and a simple, portable, and readily available device.

"The introduction of this new capability demonstrates Centreon's commitment to providing versatile, robust solutions tailored to the specific needs of industrial environments. By integrating compatibility with Raspberry Pi, we are paving the way for more flexible and powerful industrial applications. This innovation underscores our vision of limitless monitoring as a performance enabler, not only in the context of IT, but also OT," said Julien Mathis, Centreon’s CEO.

Latest software release holds additional enhancements.
In addition to Raspberry Pi compatibility, the new Centreon 23.10 release includes several key enhancements:

  • New Dashboard User Interface: The new dashboard interface provides a more intuitive and flexible user experience. It makes it easy to create customized dashboards by selecting a template from a variety of graphical widgets.
  • Additional Views for Resource Status: Centreon's Resource Status interface provides more flexibility in visualizing resource status alerts, making it easier and faster to identify the root cause of problems.
  • New Rest APIs for Complete Automation: Centreon's Rest APIs provide the ability to automate the platform's advanced remote access configuration and management tasks, giving users and developers greater automation and control over their monitoring systems.

These latest enhancements are in line with Centreon's mission to provide state-of-the-art IT monitoring solutions that enable more efficient management and better data analysis. By combining IT and OT, Centreon is raising the bar for industrial monitoring, helping organizations with complex operations achieve performance and operational excellence.

Wireless Raspberry modules

We are becoming used to using the name of varies types of fruit as names for technical products in computing and telecomunications. Apple, Blackberry, Orange, Strawberry, Raspberry, etc are all well known names or terms which give an air of freshness and colour to the sector. This release relates the introduction of a unit which operates in we might call the Raspberry world!

LPRS has introduced the eRA-Connect2-PI, a USB module that provides a simple wireless bridge between two Raspberry Pi’s (Pi2Pi), or a Raspberry Pi and a PC or any other devices that supports USB serial communications. Both Linux and Windows drivers are provided to facilitate system development.

Utilising seamless easyRadio technology at 868/915MHz (ISM band), eRA-Connect2-PI provides considerably greater range and less power consumption than similar WiFi or Bluetooth modules operating in the overcrowded 2.4GHz bands. Frequency, bandwidth, power output and data rate can optionally be configured to allow multiple devices to communicate free from interference from each other and any other RF devices.

eRA-Connect2-PI incorporates an eRA900TRS wireless module which provides simple-to-use, out-of-the-box wireless serial communication as a COMport. eRA-Connect2-PI features include allowing users to change the radio bandwidth from 150kHz down to a remarkable 12.5kHz, providing narrow-band performance at a wide-band budget. Internal temperature compensation insures less than 1.5kHz frequency drift from ambient 20ºC over a range of -40ºC to +85ºC. This new feature may also be output as a temperature measurement for the end user equipment, accurate to within 1ºC.

No complex RF protocol software is required to create an instant bidirectional link. The low-consumption eRA-Connect2-PI can be powered directly from Raspberry Pi’s USB port. An integral SMA antenna connector allows for use of an off-board antenna. Transmit and Receive LEDs are provided to confirm communication operation.

Host devices can send and receive half duplex communications of up to 180 Bytes of data per packet, seamlessly delivered to other hosts within range. There is no need for complicated ‘bit balancing’ or elaborate coding schemes.

Other innovative features available on eRA modules include, a digital RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication) – no need for host to handle A/D measurement, temporary channel selection allows host to scan other channels in real time, temperature compensated crystal-controlled synthesizer for frequency accuracy < +/-1kHz over full temperature range, built-in temperature measurement output, user-configurable self-coding system for interfacing to other data modules in FSK (FM) and ASK (AM).

In addition to manufacturing the highly successful easyRadio Advanced (eRA) wireless modules in the UK, the full LPRS product range now includes, narrow band long range wireless modules from CDP, the IQRF range of wireless networking components, the IQVC range of visual control panels together with antenna, wireless key fobs and a wide range of sensor products.
