Branding change for display!

All display products and value-added solutions manufactured in Kaohsiung Taiwan are now officially branded and marked as JDI (Japan Display Inc) products.

Formerly known as KOE (Kaohsiung Opto-Electronics), a corporate reorganisation and rebranding saw the formation of JDIT-K (JDI Taiwan Kaohsiung) in December 2021. JDIT-K is responsible for the design, development, and sales of market-leading industrial display solutions.

JDIT-K display products manufactured in Kaohsiung, Taiwan will now be branded and marked with a JDI logo. From 1st February 2023, all new products and packaging that were previously identified with a KOE logo will transition to using a JDI logo. This change to JDI branding does not have any impact on any other aspect of the products.

Benson Huang, marketing manager, JDIT-K said, “The announcement of the product branding change now completes the organisation consolidation and branding migration from that of our former business KOE to the new JDI branded product. We now hope to be able to benefit with the recognition of unified branding for all JDI display products and solutions.”

As part of the corporate rebranding, a new domain name for the JDIT-K website: www.jditk-j-display.com has been officially launched and will replace the previous website domain: www.koe.j-display.com

JDIT-K has an established LCD heritage. Over 40 years ago, as an early pioneer of LCD technology developing simple character and dot matrix displays. More recently the design, development, and production of In-plane Switching (IPS), low temperature poly-silicon (LTPS) has reiterated JDI’s commitment to providing display excellence. JDIT-K will continue with the development and production of a broad range of high-quality, performance optimised display solutions.

Display modules.

KOE have announced the introduction of Zero Dot Defect Rugged+ display modules. An improved cosmetic specification has been introduced which defines zero bright dot defects i.e. no dead pixels with a bright failure mode.

All TFT LCD displays are manufactured and supplied to a pre-defined Cosmetic specification. The cosmetic specification of a TFT display defines and specifies the number of allowable dot (pixel) failures - typically up to a maximum of 4 bright dot defects, and where they are situated on the active display area.

Pixels can be classified as 'dead' in one of two ways: 1. dead and bright i.e. a bright red, green or blue dot and 2. dead and dark i.e. a black dot. Naturally, dot defects (dead pixels) are not desirable. Display modules with dot defects are particularly undesirable if the dead pixels are in the central part of the viewable display area and easily observed. The enhanced cosmetic specification of KOE's Rugged+ displays defines zero bright dot defects and will therefore give users greater confidence and peace of mind.

KOE Rugged+ TFT display modules feature enhanced optical, mechanical and environmental performance specifications. Rugged+ displays derive their optical and environmental characteristics from the exacting standards used in automotive product specification display modules. Exceptional optical performance is delivered through the use of IPS technology enables excellent colour saturation, deep black levels and viewing angles of up to 170° degrees in all directions (left/right, up/down).

Designed for use in high reliability industrial, medical, marine, automotive and aerospace applications, the new Zero Dot Defect Rugged+ displays are supplied with no additional cost premium and are available immediately from KOE sales channel distribution partners.

10.4" TFT open frame monitor.

KOE has announced a range of value added services and product add-ons that can aid and assist display usability and enhance the user experience. Designed for integration into industrial applications and embedded systems, the 'value add' options include projected capacitive touch screens, glass bonding, analogue to digital video cards, high brightness backlights, and semi-custom and custom display development.

Optical bonding technology provides a platform for the implementation of projected capacitive touch screens and protective cover glass. Projected capacitive (P-Cap) touch panel solutions can be considered for applications which require a robust user interface solution offering highly accurate and flexible gesture interactions. Glass bonding coupled with an anti-reflection (AR) or antiglare (AG) surface finish can enable improvements in optical performance. A TFT display featuring a cover glass and surface coating can reduce reflections to less than 0.2% by scattering and absorbing ambient light.

KOE's compact, embedded video driver boards enable a cost-effective and easy-to-use display enhancement. Fully integrated analogue to digital video circuitry supports multiple interface options including VGA, DVI-D, HDMI and DisplayPort. On-board software provides on-screen display functions for backlight dimming, image scaling and optical adjustments. KOE's embedded video cards enable open frame LCD monitors to be easily integrated into any industrial or commercial application.

Mark Stephenson, technical marketing manager, KOE Europe said, "KOE is introducing a range of display add-ons with the adoption and integration of capacitive touch panels and high brightness backlights, through to the development of analogue to digital video cards and fully integrated open frame monitors to offer an expanded range of display solutions. KOE is aiming to develop and grow its market share in a number of vertical market segments by adding extra value to our display products to deliver easy-to-use, cost-effective, high quality displays solutions for OEMs and systems integrators."

The first 'value-add' display solution to be introduced is a new high brightness open frame TFT LCD monitor. The 10.4-inch TX26D200VM2BHB features SVGA (800 x 600 pixels) resolution and an integrated analogue to digital video driver card to support a VGA D-Sub or DVI-A and DVI-D input. An integrated On-Screen Display (OSD) enables control of an integrated dimming function and image timing synchronisation.

Excellent optical performance is assured with a brightness rating of 1500cd/m² and a LED lifetime of 70K hours to half brightness. The 10.4-inch monitor supports 8-bit RGB providing a colour palette of up to 16.7M colours.

Typical applications include industrial automation, process control, public information systems, digital signage, building management, in-vehicle installations, point-of-sale displays and industrial instrumentation.

The new KOE 10.4-inch TX26D200VM2BHB TFT open frame monitor is available from KOE Europe's distribution partners immediately.

A new 10.1-inch TFT display module featuring WUXGA (1920 x 1200 pixels) resolution has been introduced by KOE. The TX26D202VM0BAA has a pixel pitch of 0.11325mm (w) x 0.11325mm (h), which equates to a pixel density of 224ppi (pixels per inch). The 10.1-inch display module is further evidence of KOE's aim to embrace market demand for high performance, high resolution industrial displays.

The 16:10 aspect ratio display features IPS (in-plane switching) technology and a 16.7million colour palette, which enables highly accurate representation of image detail such as colour gradients and authentic colour reproduction. Excellent optical performance is maintained with a contrast ratio of 800:1 and a brightness specification of 800cd/m² enabling bright, sharp display images. Exceptional colour performance and image clarity at all viewing angles are particularly important in professional broadcast and medical imaging applications.

Mark Stephenson, technical marketing manager, KOE Europe said "KOE are one of the first LCD manufacturers to introduce compact, high resolution display modules developed specifically for industrial and professional applications. This reflects the trend for higher pixel density and enhanced image clarity found in consumer devices such as monitors, tablets and smartphones. The use of higher resolution displays with greater pixel density enables accurate reproduction and representation of graphical information such as measurement and diagnostic images, and video reproduction."

The compact 10.1-inch display has mechanical outline dimensions of 232.0mm (w) x 153.0mm (h) x 4.7mm (d) and an active display area of 217.44mm (w) x 135.9mm (h). A 50-pin, 2-channel LVDS interface supports 8-bit RGB which enables a colour palette of up to 16.7M colours. The LED backlight is specified at 40K hours to half brightness lifetime and features an integrated dimming function. The operating temperature range of the TX26D202VM0BAA module is -30°C to +80°C.

Typical applications for the WUXGA display include diagnostic systems, compact broadcast and video monitors, medical imaging, test and measurement instrumentation. The new TX126D202VM0BAA TFT display module is available through KOE Europe's distribution sales channel partners immediately.
