Water & Wastewater scholorship awards.

The ISA Water & Wastewater Industries Division (WWID) has announced the winners of the 2020 ISA WWID Michael Fedenyszen* Memorial Student Scholarship. The scholarships are given out to promote higher learning and to encourage students to pursue technical careers in the municipal water/wastewater sector.

This year’s recipients are Roaa Elgamal and Chance Becker. Each will receive a $1000 USD scholarship prize to help with their school costs. Please join us in congratulating this year’s winners!
Roaa Elgamal
University of Texas – San Antonio (UTSA), Texas, USA

Roaa Elgamal is a transfer Computer Engineering student studying at the University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA). She expects to graduate June 2022. Before transferring to UTSA, Roaa was a student at the University of Ottawa, Canada, where she studied Computer Engineering for two years. Her skills include programming with C, Python, and Java. In her spare time, Roaa enjoys swimming and drawing.

Chance Becker
Perry Technical Institute
Yakima, Washington, USA

Chance Becker is a first-year student at Perry Technical Institute in the Instrumentation/Industrial Automation program. He has worked in ranging professions from whitewater rafting guide on the rivers in Washington state to oil tank cleaner in Alaska and even a carpenter building homes in northern Idaho. He lives in Yakima, Washington with his wife, Tivoli, where they enjoy the outdoors, family and friends when they are not too busy studying.

“Thank you for taking the time to read my scholarship application. I startled my wife with my excitement when I read the email. Thank you for awarding this scholarship to assist me further in my college experience so that I can learn more about the things I love and find so interesting. This is the very first scholarship I’ve ever been granted, and it is such an honor to be receiving such a wonderful gift. Thank you again.”
2021 ISA WWID Student Scholarship: Applications will be due January 31, 2021. The Scholarship Application form will be available shortly.

* Michael B. Fedenyszen Jr. (1949-2017), after whom this scholorship is named,  was an Electrical Engineering Consultant and an MA Instrumentation Engineer. He was a member and Vice president of Publications for The Instrumentation Society of America.
