Explosion proof servo-motor.

Kollmorgen have announced the ATEX certification and IECEx/cETLus listing for the explosion proof Goldline EBH 480 Vac servo motor. These new explosion proof approvals for the high-voltage Goldline EBH servo motor exemplify Kollmorgen’s commitment to advancing the state of the art in motion control and meeting the most demanding application requirements.

The high-voltage Goldline EBH servo motor joins a broad selection of Kollmorgen explosion proof motors certified and listed according to UL, ATEX, IECEx and/or CSA standards. Explosion proof motors are required in hazardous locations where flammable gases, mists or vapors may exist in explosive or ignitable concentrations. Such environments are often found in mines, oil & gas refineries, textile mills and industrial paint booths.

For high-voltage applications in hazardous locations, Goldline EBH servo motors offer speeds up to 7,500 rpm with exceptionally high torque density for maximum performance in a minimal installation footprint. Rugged resolver feedback and a built-in thermostat support reliable operation under harsh environmental conditions.

Goldline EBH servo motors in frame sizes 1 – 6 join other explosion proof motors in the Goldline EB family that meet ATEX/IECEx standards, and more specifically CE 0081 Ex II 2 G Ex d IIB T3 Gb –40ºC ≤ Ta ≤ 40ºC. This classification indicates that the motors are suitable for use in any above-ground industry where easily ignited gases such as ethylene are likely to be present in the atmosphere for 10 to 1,000 hours/year during normal operation (Zones 1 and 2). Kollmorgen applies a flameproof method of protection to the motor so that any internal ignition is contained within the motor housing without the possibility of escape into the external atmosphere. The maximum surface temperature of the motor under fault conditions is 200°C.

High speed and high resolution.

In industrial automation, the optimisation of processes is often primarily about higher efficiency and accuracy. 10GigE cameras, such as those in the uEye Warp10 camera family from IDS Imaging Development Systems, set standards here. They enable high-speed image processing in Gigabit Ethernet-based networks even with large amounts of data and over long cable distances. For even more precision, the company is now introducing new models with sensors up to 45 MP that reliably capture even the smallest details.

The new industrial cameras are equipped with the onsemi global shutter sensors XGS20000 (20 MP, 1.3"), XGS30000 (30 MP, 1.5") and XGS45000 (45 MP, 2"). They are primarily used in high-precision quality assurance tasks when motion blur needs to be minimised and data needs to be quickly available on the network. The 10GigE cameras offer up to ten times the transmission bandwidth of 1GigE cameras and are about twice as fast as cameras with USB3 interfaces.

Accuracy and speed go hand in hand when it comes to these models. This has advantages for many applications, e.g. in inspection systems for status and end checks at production lines with high cycle rates – such as semiconductor or solar panel inspection. Users also benefit from the fact that even large scenes and image sections can be precisely monitored and evaluated with these cameras. This proves its worth, for example, in logistics tasks for incoming goods and in the warehouse.

The large format onsemi XGS sensors require correspondingly large optics. Therefore, unlike the previous uEye+ Warp10 models, they are equipped with a TFL mount (M35x0.75). For secure mounting, TFL lenses can be firmly screwed to the cameras. The flange focal distance is standardised and, at 17.526 mm, the same as for the previously available cameras with C-mount. To ensure optimal image quality, IDS recommends the use of Active Heat Sinks. They can be mounted both on and under the models, reduce the operating temperature and are optionally available as accessories.

5G RF Conformance Testing.

Anritsu Corporation has released its New Radio RF Conformance Test System ME7873NR Lite Model supporting 5G Sub-6 GHz (FR1) TRx tests.

5G services primarily using FR1 are expanding gradually, especially in major advanced economies. As a result, demand for FR1 certification conformance tests is expected to increase. However, 5G conformance tests take longer because 5G NR supports flexible numerology with a wide range of frequencies and scheduling for diverse services, which requires a large number of test cases. Consequently, engineers face challenges in meeting development deadlines and obtaining prompt certification. One solution is the purchase of a new conformance test system, however this requires a large additional investment. Anritsu’s extended ME7873NR Lite Model solves this problem by supporting more efficient testing without large extra costs.

Another key benefit of the distributed modular VNA solution is the MN25132A control module, which greatly simplifies installation. It acts as a junction for the cables and supplies power to the two MS46131A VNAs. There is no need to attach separate power supplies to the two VNA heads. The control module also interfaces the two VNAs to a laptop configured with ShockLine software.

Product Outline The ME7873NR Lite Model is configured using only one MT8000A, unlike the conventional ME7873NR platform consisting of multiple test instruments. This simple configuration has the following key benefits for customers:

    • Optimizes capital investment Supports 5G FR1 TRx test cases at lower cost and with flexible upgrade path for required test case coverage.
    1. Upgradeable to Lite Model from own MT8000A to support FR1 conformance test cases
    2. Upgradeable from Lite Model to full ME7873NR model for full conformance test cases
    • Reduces test times Simplified hardware configuration reduces test times by about 20% compared to conventional platform.
    • Same user experience Keeping same user interface eliminates unfamiliarity for existing users.
    • Supports 5G conformance test verification
In addition to conformance tests, automated regression tests, etc., support device verification.
