High voltage artificial networks for conducted emission testing.

Teseq has introduced two high voltage artificial networks designed for conducted emission tests and line termination during susceptibility tests for components.  The HV-AN 150 and HV-AN S150 are both ideal for use in automotive, military and airborne standards applications.

According to Teseq, these two new line impedance stabilization networks (LISNs) offer a unique approach to e-mobility as well as helping to meet the need for increasing voltage and current values within vehicles.

Thanks to its jumper settings, the HV-AN 150 offers a universal solution that covers the traditional way of testing as performed in CISPR 12, CISPR 25 and ISO 7637-2.  The combination of two networks in a shielded box enables the testing of shielded high voltage connections as seen in standard drafts of CISPR 12, CISPR 25 as well as ISO 7637-4.

Their HV-AN S150 allows users a direct connection with a special high voltage connector that avoids any shielding problems. It offers a solution for high current, high voltage and shielded connections to equipment under test (EUT).  No additional shielding box is required when using this unit.   It meets the draft versions of CISPR 12, CISPR 25 and ISO7637-4.

The HV-AN 150’s frequency range and power ratings are related to the selected standard per jumper setting. For the existing low voltage part of CISPR 12, CISPR 25 and ISO 7637-2  the frequency range is 100 kHz to 100 MHz, a maximum DC voltage of 700 V and 150 A for 60 min. 1000 V DC is allowed for the high voltage part of the draft standards of CISPR 12, CISPR 25 and ISO 7637-4.

8-channel Arbitrary Waveform Generator.

Teseq has an eight-channel arbitrary waveform generator designed for automotive testing.  The ARB 5500 fits inside the transient generator and features memory for over 64,000 standard waveform segments as well as 1 GB of Clone memory for user-defined shapes.  This is enough memory for several thousand hours of simulations.

Now available  for both new systems, or as an upgrade for existing NSG 5500 units, the ARB 5500 provides the necessary control for all battery simulation tests and advanced functions including power magnetics and continuous wave (ripple) simulations.

According to Teseq, the ARB 5500 supports waveforms that may be difficult to describe and real-world events that need to be simulated. All vital waveforms can be created from the built-in wave shapes or by loading a Clone™, a memory map of user-identified or prerecorded wave shapes, from an external application.

In addition to individual trigger outputs and programmable current limits, each of the ARB 5500’s eight channels supports 16-bit output with a 10 MS/s playback for true stepless operation.  The channels can be perfectly synchronized with an advanced parameter-ramping function when paired with Teseq’s redesigned AutoStar 7 software.  This intuitive software offers drag and drop programming for a “what you see is what you get” operation.  All channels are individually calibrated with values stored right on the ARB 5500.

Every segment in the new arbitrary waveform generator features its own trigger, advanced rectification, phase angle and duty cycle programming to effortlessly meet even the most complex standards’ requirements.

The ARB 5500 has an output voltage range of -10V to +10V, a frequency range up to 500kHz with isolated output.  With the addition of transient modules and a new dropout switch, nearly all automotive tests can be performed using a single 19in generator.

High-tech prize winner!

Berlin (D) and Luterbach(CH) were the scenes of much celebration earlier this month (June). TESEQ AG, the manufacturer of EMC measurement and test devices, had won won the “Swiss Economic Award 2012”, the most important start-up company prize in Switzerland.
Johannes Schmid - CEO Teseq
The “Swiss Economic Award”, has been awarded annually to outstanding start-up companies since 1999. It is considered the most important corporate development prize in Switzerland, and not just because of the prize money of CHF 75,000 – 25,000 (ca €62000 - €21000) in each of the three categories. Year on year the jury is composed of high-calibre members. In 2012 the business woman Carolina Müller-Möhl presided over the expert panel which included renowned businessmen as well as highly reputed scientific experts. The jurors selected the KMU TESEQ AG, founded in 2006, as winner in the category high-tech/biotech for its excellent corporate achievements. A beaming CEO Johannes Schmid accepted the major prize in front of over 1,200 public figures. His message to the audience: “We will keep on growing”.

As TESEQ CEO Johannes Schmid carved out the test device division from the mother company Schaffner AG in 2006 there was little to indicate a great future. The measuring and test devices for electromagnetic compatibility were somewhat neglected as a field in the multi-faceted Global scheme of things. However, this changed quickly and radically with the “Management Buyout”. The positive result for the region: Instead of jobs being lost new jobs were created – and will continue to be.

Global Market Presence
Since its founding six years ago, TESEQ now has 14 subsidiaries in 9 countries, primarily in Europe, Asia and the USA. The 200 employee company has six calibration laboratories and the number of new standard-setting test devices developed since its founding is impressive. The broad range of measuring and test devices is employed in the car industry, industrial electronics, the consumer goods industry, the medical technology and telecommunication sectors, and even the aerospace industry.

Progress Without Limits
The latest coup of the high-Tech company: At the end of 2011 the British company MILMEGA, leading semiconductor power amplifier manufacturer, was acquired, thus catapulting TESEQ from fifth to second place amongst the industry’s global players.

Multifunction generator

Teseq has designed the CDN 3043 3-phase coupling/decoupling network series as a competitively priced, high performance extension to the NSG 3040 multifunction generator series.

6 different models are available to provide customers with an optimum price/performance solution. All models feature a high level of user comfort and common safety functions, they range from a single function 16A unit up to a combined version rated at 32A. Higher current ratings are covered by the CDN 3063 series.

Dedicated EUT (Equipment Under Test) terminals allow direct and easy EUT connection and no specific adapter plugs are required. A safety isolated terminal key is supplied as standard. High value shielded high voltage safety plugs are used to interconnect the high voltage pulse output from a NSG 3040 multifunction generator to the CDN input.

The CDN 3043 series features a dynamic cooling system with all internal elements which increase in temperature under load equipped with thermal sensors. At standby or with lower EUT currents, when there is no need for cooling, the internal cooling fans will turn at a very low speed, generating very little audible noise. Fan speed will increase as required when the CDN is in use. In the event of intentional or unintentional overload, when maximum internal cooling becomes insufficient, the CDN 3043 will remove power to the EUT using the built in EUT power contactor, preventing damage to the instrument and removing the risk of fire. In the event of over temperature shutdown the CDN 3043 control electronics will also send a signal to the NSG 3040, immediately stopping the firing of pulses. This advanced thermal control provides the CDN 3043 series with large overload capabilities allowing up to 1.5 nominal current loading for 10 to 20 minutes, as well as high inrush currents or peak loads.

The phase rotation detector visible at the back off the CDN units shows clearly if a phase is connected and if the rotation of L1, L2 and L3 are correctly set. This important feature ensures correct coupling which is especially important in synchronous mode.

Future proof clamp!

Teseq has released the CDN 3425, a Burst/EFT coupling clamp which meets current and forthcoming standards. The ergonomically designed CDN 3425 offers high performance at a competitive price and features innovative safety and calibration accessories

The CDN 3425’s principle function is to couple Burst/EFT pulses to data lines. It may also be used to couple to mains lines where no CDN is available; for example high current lines >200 A.

Teseq continuously monitors the activities of the EMC standards committees to ensure new and existing products meet the requirements of all test procedures. The new TESEQ CDN 3425 is fully compliant with the specifications of IEC 61000-4-4 Ed. 2.0 2004 and meets the requirements of the latest draft of IEC 61000-4-4 Ed. 3.0 expected to be published in April 2012.

An optional INA 3825 safety cover with interlock function to be connected to NSG 3000 series generators is also available and an INA 3425 calibration kit as specified in IEC 61000-4-4 Ed. 3.0 2012 will be available as an option early 2012.
