Precise and fast!

In modern production processes, two things are critical: precision and speed. Time-based IOs such as Siemens' technology module TM Timer DIDQ enable microsecond- accurate signal acquisition and/or output based on accurate time information. As of now, these modules can also be configured using Simotion Scout and Simotion Scout TIA, increasing productivity and at the same time saving costs.

Bottling, filling, pouring or packaging. In production machinery – such as packaging machines – it is all about speed. The faster a machine is, the higher the productivity. But this also makes controlling the individual product stages all the more difficult. Automation systems like the Simotion Motion Control System make configuring motion processes easy and efficient. As of now, it is also possible to program time-based IOs in Scout and Scout TIA.

Intuitive symbolic engineering Time-based technology modules enable microsecond-accurate signal output. They make precise placement of glue points on packaging possible even in packaging machines running at high throughput speeds, for instance. This makes production processes more precise and faster, with switching points being set based on practical position values. Time-controlled activation enables signal acquisition and output independently of the PLC cycle, avoiding high costs for more powerful controllers and, at the same time, saving valuable engineering time because configuration is intuitive and symbolic.

Dynamic signal acquisition module

Adlink Technology has released a new four-channel USB 2.0 dynamic signal acquisition module, the USB-2405. A built-in IEPE excitation current source provides 2mA on each AI channel, and BNC connectors enable the USB-2405 to provide high accuracy and excellent dynamic performance for microphone and accelerometer measurement in vibration and acoustic applications. Featuring superior accuracy with low temperature drift, built-in anti-aliasing filters, support flexible trigger mode, and USB bus power, the USB-2405 embodies an ideal portable solution for time-frequency analysis and research.

High Accuracy with Low Temperature Drift
The ADLINK USB-2405 supports four analog input channels simultaneously sampling up to 128kS/s, and delivers 100 dB dynamic range and -94 dB THD of dynamic performance. Built-in anti-aliasing filters enable filter cutoff frequency to be automatically adjusted to the sampling rate, suppressing out-of-band noise and avoiding measurement distortion. The USB-2405 also supports auto-calibration for ensured accuracy, and minimizes temperature drift in the field with maximum gain drift of 11ppm/°C, an impressive 50% of the maximum available market performance. The USB-2405’s low DC measurement drift, along with temperature deviation, optimize accuracy in spite of the environment.

Flexible Sampling Rate & Triggering
The ADLINK USB-2405 provides flexible sampling rate, and built-in DDS (direct digital synthesis) generates a programmable sample clock with superior frequency resolution, enabling resolution of 3x10-4 S/s. In addition, the USB-2405 supports external digital/analog trigger source, and flexible trigger modes including post, delay, middle, gated, pre-trigger, and re-trigger, all maximizing convenience of use.

The USB-2405 provides lockable USB to enhance connectivity, and the included multi-functional stand fully supports desktop, rail, or wall mounting. ADLINK's easy-to-use U-Test software is included at no extra charge. With no programming required, the USB-2405 delivers fast, easy instrument setup and quality data acquisition. The USB-2405 supports Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows XP operating systems, and is fully compatible with third-party software such as LabVIEW™, MATLAB®, and Visual Studio.NET®.

Module for high-channel-count dynamic signal acquisition

New PXI Express Module features AC/DC coupling for multiple types of physical measurements

National Instruments has announced the NI PXIe-449x devices, the most flexible high-channel-count dynamic signal acquisition (DSA) modules NI has to offer. The modules provide AC/DC coupling both for sensor measurements with a microphone or accelerometer and voltage measurements from a tachometer or device under test, making it possible for engineers to use a single device for all their sound and vibration acquisition needs.

“We need scalable data acquisition hardware and software that yields accurate data efficiently,” said Michael James, vice president at Blue Ridge Research and Consulting. “Leveraging LabVIEW with the NI PXIe-449x DSA module fulfilled our needs by enabling us to customize our applications and perform real-time monitoring.”

The NI PXIe-449x modules feature a choice of 8 or 16 channels with 24-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) per channel and 113 dB dynamic range. The large dynamic range minimizes the noise floor, making it easy to detect even the smallest vibration and acoustic signals. The NI PXIe-449x modules also provide software-selectable gains that help engineers configure gain on each channel for the best signal-to-noise ratio possible.

With the NI PXIe-449x modules, engineers can easily synchronize physical measurements of any type and correlate real-time events. The modules sync effortlessly with the NI SC Express family of data acquisition modules, which provide signal conditioning and connectivity ideal for temperature, strain and high-voltage acquisition. The ability to combine the modules makes the PXI platform ideal for structural test, design validation and other dynamic tests.

The NI PXIe-449x devices are also compatible with the NI Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite, an interactive software for quickly acquiring, analyzing and logging acoustic and vibration measurements. The suite includes the NI Sound and Vibration Assistant and NI LabVIEW analysis VIs. High-level, ready-to-run applications for performing nondestructive tests are included.
