Thermal imaging in the scientific field.

Teledyne FLIR is launching a five part series of English-language webinars on thermal imaging on 27th September 2022. 

The five different sessions will focus on the fact that cooled and uncooled detectors are manufactured for similar purposes (namely, to measure energy in the infrared range, typically temperature), but that - although the purpose is the same - the architecture of each type of detector results in very different, sometimes unique, capabilities.

The first session is on Tuesday, 27 September at 3 p.m. with the topic "Speed". During the session participants will learn about the differences between infrared detectors, readout electronics, integration times, frame rates and high-speed applications. The four other webinars will cover topics such as spatial resolution, thermal sensitivity, spectral filter options and synchronisation and all participants of the first webinar will be automatically invited to the four further dates.

Ambitious plans for Irish instrument manufacturer.

Eurolec Instrumentation has enjoyed significant investment in equipment, infrastructure and marketing following on from a successful buyout by Scientific Measurements Pte Ltd in 2017 (see Irish instrument company acquired April 2017),

More than €57000 (£50,000+) was ploughed into the growth of the temperature and pressure instrumentation manufacturer at the end of last year, which has already produced dividends with an extended distributor network and increased international sales.

Eurolec is now represented in more than 20 territories globally and its Ireland-based lab has been technologically enhanced increasing Eurolec's overall capacity for precision calibration certification and product service requirements.

Managing Director Chris Mears said: "2017 was a very exciting year for Eurolec but it looks like that is going to be exceeded by further improvements and progress in 2018.

"Thanks to the investment and support by Scientific Measurements we have been able to introduce Eurolec's first five-year warranty which has boosted interest in our portable thermometers and probes, particularly within the highly competitive HACCP and food markets."

He added: "We also have new product development well under way, together with further enhancement to our existing product range across portable thermometers, manometers and temperature calibration sources.

"Our established portable thermometer (TH & PC Temp series) and manometer (PR and PC mano series) portables have already been restyled and have received something of a makeover in advance of new ranges to be announced in the near future.

"Investment in new reference instrumentation in Eurolec's calibration laboratory has also resulted in an improved temperature calibration service from the company with stated uncertainties of measurement now as low as ± 0.03°C."

Eurolec is also the official Britain and Ireland distributor for the Ono Sokki range of specialised engine tachometers, FFT analysers, rotary encoders and linear gauges with further announcements due shortly on developments in this promising sector.

New website to cope with greater demand!

Following on from the recent buy-out of Eurolec Instrumentation Ltd, the company has already unveiled its new-look website.

​The news of the acquisition by Scientific Measurements Pte Ltd last month has prompted increased interest in Eurolec's range of thermometers, pressure gauges and vibration monitors, with the brand continuing to enjoy strong market recognition. That reputation has now been consolidated with the new website that makes it even easier for clients and potential partners to find product information as well as company background data.

Chris Mears, Eurolec Managing Director, said: "It has been full-on since we became part of Scientific Measurements and we have been working closely with its marketing team to start getting our key product and brand messages out there.

"The very first important stage was the website and since the new look went live we are already seeing a sharp spike in visitor numbers as well as positive comments about the look and its ease of use. We are going to continue to build on that great start, to maintain and grow our customer base online as well as through our solid distribution network."

Looking ahead the Eurolec team, which is headquartered in Dundalk (Ireland), will be concentrating on product enhancement and development.
