Quick release terminals.

JPR Electronics offers a wide range of quick-release terminals manufactured by market leading connector manufacturer Schützinger. Since the launch of their first quick-release terminal an entire product family has emerged and successfully established itself in the market. Quick-release terminals provide the ideal connection in any situation where a safe and rapid connection must be created quickly between a conductor or cable and another device.

Paul Raynor, Director of JPR Electronics, comments, “Schützinger quick release terminals are particularly suitable for quick connection and testing of electronic products and electrical appliances as they come off the end of production lines. They can be used for both functional testing and burn-in if required.”

Typical applications for quick release terminals include instrumentation, burn-in, test and repair bays or any test applications in which cables, conductors or electrical devices need to undergo functional testing.

Wires are connected to the terminals by pressing on the head of the terminal post and inserting them between the connection jaws where the strong internal compression spring guarantees good contact. Versions are available with 2 apertures as well as shock-proof versions for applications operating above protective low voltage levels. Quick release Kelvin four-wire terminals are also available allowing measurements to be made without errors caused by transition resistance of the measuring leads and any thermovoltages.

Schützinger quick release terminals are rated from 5A to 16A can accommodate panel thicknesses from 0.8 to 7mm and are available with options of termination safety shield and 4mm plug connection for converting existing terminals to quick release. Standard colours are blue, green, yellow, grey, brown, white, purple and green-yellow.

In addition to the wide range of standard quick release terminals JPR can supply customised Schützinger products. Custom options include reduction of the spring force for frequent use with low electrical load, increased spring force for higher electrical loads, additional colours and colour combinations for casing and button, customised connection types and alternative typeface or customer logo.

Other Schützinger products available from JPR include a wide range of 2mm and 4mm terminal posts, safety sockets and plugs including stackable variants, standard and safety crocodile clips, packaged 2mm and 4mm test lead sets and a comprehensive multimeter test lead and probe kit.

4-Wire Measurement connectors.

The Schützinger GmbH Kelvin range of simple to use and space saving Four-Wire Measurement connectors are now available through JPR Electronics.

Paul Raynor, Director of JPR Electronics, comments, “The Schützinger Kelvin test connector range provides designers, test engineers, production test and research laboratories with an error free measurement system“

Schützinger Kelvin Four-Wire Measurement connectors enables engineers to measure current and voltage through two opposing measurement channels removing any effects on the measured result due to transition resistance of the measuring leads and any thermovoltages.

The Schützinger Kelvin system enables low resistances measured with a small test current to be easily and accurately determined. 4 sockets on the measuring tool and 4 plugs on the measuring leads are provided to make the 4-wire measurement.

Due to the coaxial arrangement of plug contacts the Schützinger Kelvin Plug System requires minimal space in the measuring tool housing enabling a simple set up of the measuring leads. As the Kelvin system is compatible with standard 4 mm safety plugs other measuring tasks can be easily be carried out using just 2 sockets.

Kelvin measurements often have to be made using unterminated, bare wire ends For measurements to be made from test objects with unterminated wires JPR can supply Schützinger Kelvin quick-release terminals. Quick-release terminals are ideal for situations where a lead or cable needs to be connected to an instrument safely and quickly. This is especially useful for inspection during production because it can be installed permanently and used to clamp a lead between two poles. A specially designed clamp holds the lead in place to ensure the contact is secure and shock-proof. Even the finest wires are securely held by a built-in ratcheted plate. Releasing the lead is as quick as pressing the button that opens the circuit. The terminal can be supplied colour coded black and red for four-wire measurement

JPR can also supply the Kelvin-Adapterbox. Initially designed for demonstrating the different types of connections on accessories for Kelvin measurement, the box is increasingly used as an adaptor for connecting specific test accessories to sensing systems made by different manufacturers. The Kelvin-Adapterbox allows connections from four individual standard 4-mm plugs to two standard BNC sockets on an instrument or two bare wires to a multimeter by using on-board Kelvin quick-release terminals.

In addition, two 4-mm Kelvin safety sockets are installed on the box’s short side; the corresponding 4-mm Kelvin safety lamella-basket plug, including accessories, is also available from JPR. The commonly used connector comprising four individual safety sockets can be found on the long side of the box. Putting the two types of connector side by side clearly demonstrates the key advantages of the 4 mm Kelvin safety sockets: they occupy half as much space because of the coaxial arrangement on their plug contacts, and help save time because users only have to connect two plugs instead of four.

A circuit diagram printed on the housing shows how the different interfaces are connected to each other so that they can be used in pairs for 4-wire measurement.

High current 4mm plugs and test leads.

JPR Electronics has announced the availability of the Schützinger GmbH range of products, including the 4mm high current lamella-basket plugs, widely used in test and measurement and instrumentation applications. Founded in 1950, Schützinger are a family managed independant company, providing flexible, high quality connector solutions into the railway, mechanical engineering, medical, automotive and low-voltage lighting sectors.

The Schützinger range of 4mm plugs feature lamella baskets made from high-grade copper-beryllium and are characterised by their high current carrying capacity with minimal contact resistance and low self-heating. The plug connectors are extremely robust, secure against vibration when plugged-in and guarantee excellent contact reliability.

39 standard models are available rated at 16 or 32A and with screw, solder or crimp cable termnations accepting cables up to 2.5mm diameter. Safety shielded touch-proof versions are available and a number of models feature in-line sockets for additional connectivity. For direct panel mounting a range of 2-sided fasteners with an M3, M4 or M5 thread in various lengths or stud for pressing into plastic or metal are also available. Contacts are may be supplied nickel or gold plated and all-metal versions for use up to 1000V according to EN 61010-031 are available.

Standard sleeve colours include black, red, blue, green, yellow and grey with customer specific versions available to order. Other lamella-basket plugs are available in 2mm and 2.4 mm diameters.

Paul Raynor, Director of JPR Electronics, commented, “Schützinger offer an extensive range of high quality connectors for test, development, laboratory and educational requirements.  With in-house design and manufacture and short component supply chain we can offer our customers an excellent product on a short lead time at a competitve cost.“
