Solution for complex valve island applications.

Cabinet mounted valve islands now offer simplified installation and maintenance requirements as part of customised solutions for a range of industries

Emerson have unveiled a panel mount adaptor plate for the ASCO Numatics 501 Series of pneumatic valve islands, enabling the valve island to be directly mounted to the cabinet. The 501 Series valve provides the flow of a 15 mm to 20 mm valve in a compact 11 mm size, addressing customer needs for space savings and simplified construction and assembly.

Many of the complicated internal connections found in traditional cabinet solutions are eliminated, and the design is considerably streamlined. This offers customers increased versatility and reduced component complexity when using valve islands and electronics in small spaces, or damp and aggressive environments.

Emerson’s design has the smallest footprint on the market, allowing for assembly possibilities where they would have previously not been possible.

“The 501 Series panel mount adapter plate fulfils our customers’ needs for space savings, easy panel construction and assembly.” said Yannick Guenard, Valve Island Product Manager for ASCO Numatics. “It eliminates the need for complex tubing routing and bulkhead fittings, reduces custom machining and drilling and simplifies panel layout.”

As with traditional cabinet systems, this ASCO Numatics solution is also highly resistant to corrosion thanks to cabinets that are constructed from anodised aluminum or AISI 316L stainless steel for high protection and resistance against regular cleaning from harsh chemicals – very common in applications where hygiene is a top priority.

Designed for easy maintenance, the systems also include an integrated valve shut off accessory to individually isolate any valve in the circuit, allowing for valve maintenance and replacement without shutting down the entire process.

The mounting plate adapter allows original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and end users to directly connect the 501 Series valve manifold to a panel in the wall or floor of a cabinet. All panel strength, integrity and certifications are maintained.

“With our space saving cabinet mounted solutions, we have managed to provide a versatile and economic solution that will stand the test of time in these typical environments without compromising on performance. Our cabinet mounted solutions consider the unique requirements of each individual customer,” continued Guenard.

The panel mount adapter plate is ideal for applications in the process industries, for example for food and beverage, pharmaceutical and packaging machinery, plus general machine automation.

The ergonomic link between man & machine!

Rittal's new support arm range, in one uniform design, covers all the load ranges up to 180 kg.

Wide-ranging and modular, with Rittal support arm systems, control panels can be easily and accurately turned, lifted and swivelled, ensuring operators can monitor their machine at any time.

Nowadays, support arm systems need to be quick to assemble, simple to adjust, suitable for individual installations, designed in a uniform way, capable of bearing high loads and must facilitate cable management. These support arm system 60/120/180 meets all these requirements in full.

Support arm systems can be created for the 60, 120, and 180 kg load levels (relative to a jib length of one metre) with a uniform function, installation and project planning system. The support arm system, consisting of support section, intermediate hinge and angle pieces, can be mounted on top of a machine or on a side panel. Wall and base mountings, as well as flexible top-mounted joints and wall mounted hinges, are available with horizontal outlets for assembly.

To help select the right support arm system, an interacti-ve online configurator ensures rapid engineering, helping to configure the appropriate support arm solution with minimal effort.

Flex-block plinth has double appeal

Successfully introduced in 2012 in the 100 mm high version, Rittal’s flex-block plinth is now available in a 200 mm high version, ex stock. Completing the series of sizes for the entire range of Rittal floor standing enclosures, the innovative design of the flex-block plinth provides simple but effective features providing time saving benefits.
The flex block plinth is bayable, provides reduced labour times by quick and easy assembly without tools; acts as a pallet preventing the need to double handle; enables the option for cable management/restrain within the base, freeing up space within the enclosure; strong with loads up to 15,000 N and a vented option is available, along with filters.

Support arm systems for human/machine interfaces

Rittal’s new range of modular support arm systems make it easy to turn, lift and swivel control panels with precision. Giving the operator a clear overview and the best possible control, the support arm systems provide an ergonomic interface between machines, control devices and operators.

Encapsulating the latest thinking on human/machine interfaces, this new modular support arm system offers the user consistency in both function and installation, reducing time required for assembly, alignment and maintenance and project planning.

Having a standardised design and a modular structure the new support arm system offers the ideal solution for every requirement and can be implemented for loads in the range of 60, 120 and 180 kg (based on a jib length of 1 m).

Their new modular support arm system boasts a number of ingenious features. For instance, each system, comprising a support section, intermediate hinge and angle pieces, can be mounted either on top of the machine or on a side panel. To ensure smooth, straight-forward installation, wall and base mounting brackets are available in two different sizes, as are flexible top- and wall-mounted joints with horizontal outlets.

Providing the ideal load capacity, support sections are constructed from an oval-shaped aluminium section. Most support arms on the market are made of square steel piping. Rittal’s new section design is not just pleasing to the eye, it also provides substantially higher stability against the bending and torsional loads typical of the application.

Bus-mounting fuse bases

Rittal’s new easy connect bus-mounting fuse bases are supplied as complete units, which includes a cover plate, contact hazard protection and exterior connection clamps.

Snapping onto Rittal’s RiLine60 busbar system, the fuse base has a modular design with options for configuration to meet specific requirements. The modular design allows direct connection of 1.5mm to 25mm cables, achieved by a flexible routing system. There is an option to use a connection space extender, which is mounted on the side of the fuse base.

Spring-mounted contact plates and multi-track threads in the screw cap mountings enable easy snap-fastening and good dissipation. An unlatch button on the frame allows simple removal from the busbar system.

3 pole versions are available with ratings of up to 63A.

Interior installation made easy

Mounting equipment to the inside of an enclosure, without using the mounting plate or drilling holes into the wall of the enclosure, is not an easy task.

Light & door switch from Rittal
Rittal’s Interior rails have been designed to fit within a range of enclosures, with various depths, to eliminate the need for drilling holes in the sides, base or top of the enclosure, which could affect water ingress or corrosion resistance. Rails are simply fitted by locating them between the rear wall and the door jamb of the enclosure and friction screws are then tightened to create a strong mechanical fixing point for a number of accessories.

Rails are punched with the standard hole pattern to accept a wide range of available products. These range from lights, door switches and door stays, through to mounting fails in various lengths together with cable conduit holders to make fit-out of the enclosures easier and more professional without the need to drill holes.

Chassis mounting kit for DC/DC converters

Calex has launched the MS22 Mounting Kit for half-brick DC/DC converters.

The MS22 provides an off-the-shelf solution for prototyping or mounting a DC/DC converter in an enclosure. It is a cost-effective solution that eliminates the need for a printed circuit board for the converter.

It accommodates Calex half-brick DC/DC converters including the 150 watt HEW Series, which offers a 9 to 36 V DC input range, making the units suitable for battery powered 12 V sytems, 24 V industrial and 28 V military applications. It is available on a stand-alone basis or with a customer-specified half-brick DC/DC converter mounted on the board.

This mounting kit includes an input fuse for protection, as well as input capacitors for lower input impedance to the DC/DC converter. It also includes on-board barrier strips allowing screw terminal connections for all the converter's input and output functions. The converter is mounted on the opposite side of the barrier strips to facilitate heatsinking.

The dimensions of the MS22 are 129.5 mm (5.1") L x 76.2 mm (3") W. The total height of the board, with a half-brick converter mounted, is 34.8 mm (1.37").
