Programmable power!

Magna-Power Electronics has increased the power capability of its popular 1U (1.75” high) SL Series to 8 kW with the addition of 17 new models. The new 8 kW models further extend the SL Series lead for the most programmable power in 1U within its product class. The SL Series now spans 99 models from 1.5 kW to 8 kW, from 5 Vdc to 1000 Vdc, and from 1.5 Adc to 250 Adc.
The new 8kW models come in response to Magna-Power users’ ever-increasing demands for rack-mount power density. The SL Series was introduced in 2013 as Magna-Power’s first 1U power supply, building upon over 30 years of innovation in power electronics. When first introduced, the product series was offered up to 4 kW, an industry first for its product class. In 2015, the product series was further expanded to 6 kW and has since grown into Magna-Power’s most popular product line, satisfying the application demands for: automated test equipment (ATE) system integration, automotive testing, oil and gas, consumer product validation, and aerospace systems testing.

On the 8 kW models’ introduction, Adam Pitel, Magna-Power’s Vice President of Operations said: “Magna-Power’s growth is fuelled by incorporating state-of-the-art devices and technologies, while ensuring reliability through the company’s innovative power processing topologies.”

All SL Series models come as standard with monitoring and control from a variety of sources, including: front panel, computer interface and an isolated analogue-digital I/O connector. A Standard Commands for Programmable Instrumentation (SCPI) command set is supported, allowing easy ASCII text programming over a computer interface. In addition, an IVI driver is included for the Visual Studio programming environment along with a dedicated National Instruments LabVIEW™ and LabWindows™ driver. Additional computer interface options include LXI TCP/IP Ethernet (+LXI), IEEE-488 GPIB (+GPIB), USB and RS-485.

SL Series models are available with three-phase input, including 208 Vac, 240 Vac, 380 Vac, 415 Vac, 440 Vac, or 480 Vac. In addition, 1.5 kW models are also available with a single-phase active PFC Universal Input (UI), allowing for an input voltage range spanning 85 Vac to 265 Vac.

The new 8 kW SL Series models are available immediately.

Seventeen new SL Series Programmable DC PSUs

Magna-Power Electronics has expanded its popular 1U SL Series product line to 6 kW.
The SL Series product range now spans 70 models at power levels 1.5 kW, 2.6 kW, 4 kW, and 6 kW all in a 1U, 1.75" high rack-mount form-factor.

With programmable DC output voltage ranges from 0-5 Vdc to 0-1000 Vdc and programmable DC output current ranges from 0-1.5 Adc to 0-250 Adc, the product line satisfies requirements in a variety of industries including: automated test equipment (ATE) system integration, automotive testing, oil and gas, remotely operated underwater vehicles, and aerospace systems testing.

Magna-Power introduced the SL Series product line–the company's first 1U power supply–in early 2013 in response to overwhelming demand from customers. "The expansion to 6 kW in 1U continues Magna-Power's long-standing commitment to offering industry-leading programmable power densities," explained Adam Pitel, Vice President overseeing worldwide sales and marketing. "This latest innovation is the result of continuous research and development work in power electronics and heat management, along with further advances in the company's internal manufacturing processes."

New office for DC programmable power products to serve Europe!

Magna-Power Electronics has opened a subsidiary in Britain. The new sales office follows significant growth of the Magna-Power Electronics brand in Britain, Ireland and the rest of Europe. The direct sales office provides local resources for sales and support of the company's broad range of programmable DC power supplies.

Bob Collins
Located in Reading (GB), the new office represents a significant commitment in this market for the Magna-Power Electronics brand. Bob Collins, with over 25 years of experience in the programmable power industry, is leading Magna-Power Electronics Limited as Managing Director. "I’m very excited to be joining the Magna-Power team by setting up a direct office here to support the installed and future UK customers," he said. "With strong industry and application knowledge, we will be able to further promote the Magna-Power brand and its market leading products, while becoming a leading supplier to this important territory."

"With Magna-Power Electronics' strong reputation in its domestic United States market, the company has been focusing on building a sales and service infrastructure abroad," explains Adam Pitel, Vice President overseeing worldwide sales and marketing. "Excellent customer feedback, improved brand recognition, and strong year-over-year growth for the 2012 German sales office Magna-Power Electronics GmbH prompted Magna-Power to pursue a similar sales model for the United Kingdom."

• With an active research and development team, the breadth of Magna-Power's product offering has increased significantly in recent years. Magna-Power's programmable DC power supply line now spans power ratings 1.5 kW to 2000 kW+ at industry-leading power densities, with voltage ratings up to 10,000 Vdc and current ratings up to 24,000 Adc. The company's vertically integrated manufacturing facility in Flemington, (NJ USA), has nearly tripled in size within the last three years to 73,500 sq-ft to accommodate increased demand and manufacturing processes.
