Cloud based condition monitoring.

Machine Sentry® has enhanced its cloud-based condition monitoring offering with the launch of Machine Sentry® 2.5.

Ian Newby, IS Development Manager of AVT Reliability®* said: “Machine Sentry® is one of the most advanced cloud-based condition monitoring systems on the market but our ongoing aim is to make it simple and cost-efficient to use.
“The new capabilities offered by Machine Sentry® 2.5 not only expand the range of options to customers, but also make it easier to adopt them, without the need for detailed technical knowledge of the system.
“As always, customers have the additional option of direct support from our in-house team of reliability experts, from installation onwards, providing a 360° service to their condition based maintenance programmes.”

The latest developments deliver key enhancements to Android™ applications of the system, including:

  • Integration with Bluetooth® low energy (LE) sensors from any manufacturer
  • Support for new, advanced oil quality and vibration sensors
  • A simplified measurement import application programme interface (API)

In addition to the option of employing MSF-1, a Machine Sentry® sensor, companies using the Machine Sentry® Android™ application can now add any brand of sensor to the system. By simply copying the sensor definition to the Android™ device’s internal storage and opening it. Once loaded, the new sensor will be able to collect measurements in exactly the same way as MS-F1.

Machine Sentry® 2.5 also enables enhanced oil quality and vibration monitoring capability with the addition of two new compatible sensors. The Tandelta oil quality sensor, connected via the Tandelta OQD Express display, allows the condition of oil to be monitored in situ without the need to extract a sample and send it to an oil lab. Wear or contamination is measured in real time to an accuracy of 0.001%.

The CTC WA102-1A transmitter, for AC312 and AC314 accelerators, has a higher maximum temperature range than MSF-1, with the potential to reach 125°C, and is capable of a higher sample rate, delivering a maximum F-Max value of just over 15kHz.

The simplified measurement API has been developed to make it easy to import devices, channels and measurements from other systems to Machine Sentry®. Data uploaded via the IPA is automatically added to the database.

Standards for vibration & temperature.

AVT Reliability® has strengthened its position in the US and Canadian asset management market after achieving the UL 61010 US and C safety standard for its tri-axial fixed vibration and temperature sensor, Machine Sentry® MSF-1.

The company opened its first US subsidiary in Rockford, Tennessee in January this year to service and support an increased demand from clients. It has also established a local distribution network and support partners in the US and Canada for its Machine Sentry® product range.

The UL 61010 is the US & Canada equivalent of the European CE product safety standard and covers electrical products for use in non-hazardous locations.

Managing Director of AVT Reliability®, Frederic Thomas, said: “The UL 61010 certification comes in response to the increasing demand from new and existing customers in the North American market.

“AVT Reliability® has already met the demanding safety standards required to attain Hazloc, ATEX and IECEx certification. With the UL 61010 certification we are now able to assure our clients across North America that MSF-1 meets extremely high safety requirements, whilst also being one of the most cost-effective, user-friendly wireless condition monitoring tools on the market.”

The MSF-1 sensor is a wireless intelligent tri-axial vibration and integrated temperature sensor, which connects via a Bluetooth®. Storing up to 5,000 readings and with a five-year battery life, it can be installed anywhere from harsh environments such as chemical plants and the oil and gas industry, to the food and beverage sector, and is also available with an optional internet gateway.

Contactless data collection.

The Machine Sentry® suite of cloud-based condition monitoring tools from AVT Reliability® has been enhanced with the launch of its long range, low energy Bluetooth® router, Gateway.
Easy to install and simple to use, Machine Sentry Gateway removes the need for manual data collection from MSF-1 sensors. This improves workforce safety and frees up valuable time for operatives on the plant floor.

It can connect up to 100 vibration sensors to the internet via the ethernet, Wi-Fi or 3G/4G cellular network, and extends Bluetooth connectivity up to 50m (160 ft). An IP65 rating makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Frederic Thomas, Managing Director at AVT Reliability®, said: “Machine Sentry Gateway is the most user-friendly online condition monitoring system on the market today.

“Power over ethernet means set-up is flexible and it can be easily deployed, and scaled up if required, anywhere on a plant.

“The Machine Sentry platform allows data to be stored securely in the cloud, where it can be managed by authorised personnel on one easy-to-use interface, from any location, using a standard web browser. Vibration data collected from Machine Sentry sensors is then analysed by ADA™ the Automated Diagnostic Assistant.”

He added: “AVT Reliability strives to stay one step ahead in digital condition monitoring approaches. We believe Machine Sentry Gateway seals our reputation for bringing truly game-changing products to the UK, European and American markets.

“This new addition is the first of many developments AVT Reliability have pending, all designed to improve the transition and experience of users to a truly innovative and sustainable Industry 4.0 solution”.
