Industrial LAN.

An industrial dual-radio wireless LAN access point optimized with added router capabilities that securely extends connectivity to the ever-growing number of WiFi devices deployed on high-density plant floors has been launched by Antaira Technologies. Empowered by 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi and boasting ultra-reliable stability thanks to the embedded Qualcomm IPQ4029 SoC chipset, the Antaira ARS-7235-5E-AC-T accelerates data transmission speeds up to 867Mbps to facilitate uninterrupted access to a steady, strong wireless signal. Two adjustable MIMO antennas mitigate interference to allow IT professionals to squeeze every inch of reliable range from coverage.

The ARS-7235-5E-AC-T will add value in countless use cases including the enabling of remote monitoring and operation of machinery in harsh industrial environments, the providing of real-time access to WiFi sensors for machine diagnostics and troubleshooting, and supplying wireless connectivity to Autonomous Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and Autonomous Mobile Robots. Its dual-radio (2.4GHz/5GHz) improves plant productivity by enabling multiple devices to concurrently tap into secure, high-speed WiFi signals and automatically find the least congested channel. Five Gigabit Ethernet ports help customers future-proof their networks as they work to digitally transform their operations with next-generation smart sensors, IP cameras, and industrial IoT devices.

Another box the ARS-7235-5E-AC-T checks is compatibility with ConnectVPN, a cloud-based Virtual Private Network (VPN) developed by Antaira for their wireless router series. ConnectVPN implements encrypted VPN tunnels and WiFi routing to securely configure, monitor, and collect data from connected remote devices.

Featuring a true industrial-grade network design, the ARS-7235-5E-AC-T is engineered to withstand conditions that would severely compromise less robust devices. Its metal housing offers IP30-rated protection, along with a temperature range of -35° to 70°C. Antaira backs the ARS-7235-5E-AC-T with five year warranty.

Multi-network routing.

The Portable BASrouter, from Contemporary Controls, is a compact BACnet multi-network router which provides versatile stand-alone routing between BACnet/IP, BACnet Ethernet (ISO 8802-3), and BACnet MS/TP networks.

This portable BACnet router is easy to carry, web page configurable and it is powered by any 5 VDC source through it's USB connection, such as the USB port of your laptop computer. It is a great commissioning and/or troubleshooting device with BACnet diagnostic capabilities. BACnet MS/TP "Status" webpage with graphical table of present MS/TP device status and network statistics, in addition to a BACnet/IP "Routing" webpage with a discoverable routing table become useful when setting up or troubleshooting a BACnet network.

The unit is housed in a compact plastic case that is powered from a USB port on a PC or laptop computer. The Portable BASrouter is equipped with one optically-isolated EIA-485 port used for BACnet MS/TP, an alternative RJ-11 MS/TP port, and one 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Auto-Negotiation and Auto-MDIX port for BACnet IP, BACnet Ethernet, and web page configuration.

The MS/TP port offers an optically-isolated transceiver. It has a removable 3-pin terminal block for the EIA-485 connection or an alternative RJ-11 can be used for MS/TP connection. The Ethernet port offers a shielded RJ-45 connector. Auto-negotiation and Auto-MDIX allow this port to automatically match connections to the attached equipment. Therefore, either straight-through or crossover CAT5/6 cable can be used for hook-up. A resident web server allows for commissioning, and troubleshooting using a standard web browser. A reset switch is provided on the router to return the unit to the factory default IP address of 192.168.92.68 (/24).

Three LEDs are provided: The power LED glows green when proper power is provided. A bicolour Ethernet LED glows green for 100 Mbps, and yellow for 10 Mbps, and indicates activity by flashing. MS/TP LED flashes green when valid MS/TP traffic is received. When flashing continuously and without long interruptions, the MS/TP receive LED is a good indicator that the MS/TP network is operational.

ZigBee, Wifi and Bluetooth sensors or actuators

Libelium's new multiprotocol router allows the connection of any sensor or actuator to the Cloud by accessing high speed 3G networks, opening a wide range of possibilities for the Internet of Things development.

The new multiprotocol router by Libelium allows the connection of any sensor or actuator to the Cloud via high speed 3G networks, opening a wide range of possibilities for the Internet of Things development.

Meshlium Xtreme is the new multiprotocol router for wireless sensor networks designed to connect ZigBee, Wifi and Bluetooth sensors to the Internet through 3G connectivity. The new line launched today allows the sending of information gathered by hundreds of sensor nodes at the same time, as it counts with an unprecedented "upload to the Cloud" bandwidth of 5.5 Mb/s -more than 10 times faster than compared with traditional GPRS gateways.

The 3G interface in Meshlium Xtreme connects Worldwide to WCDMA and HSPA networks as it uses different frequency bands (850/900/1800/1900/2100MHz) depending on the carrier and country regulations, allowing a massive transfer of all the data acquired by the sensors of the network.

“Meshlium may communicate with ZigBee, Wifi and Bluetooth sensor nodes and then send the information collected to the Cloud by either 3G or Ethernet interfaces depending on the communication available at any time" says David Gascón, Libelium's CTO. "Its’ modular architecture allows customers to choose only the needed communication radios to ensure a cost-effective solution for each Internet of Things project."

Meshlium Xtreme includes a friendly Open Source web application that can be controlled from any browser or Smartphone and can be configured in just 3 simple steps, deciding even data destination, either locally or in a Cloud data base. Developers have also the opportunity to run their own applications in Meshlium which runs a Linux distribution including the main runtime libraries to execute C++, Java or PHP.

A robust aluminium waterproof enclosure protects the router in case of outdoor projects where sensors are placed outside such as Smart Parking or Smart Cities applications.
