Robotic communication.

When machines communicate with each other, robots perform precise movements or wind turbines feed electricity into the grid, it is often powerful connections in the background that make everything possible: such as EPIC® connectors from LAPP

Powerful single-pole connector significantly simplifies assembly, packaging, &unlocking.

Applications with extreme currents
With a current carrying capacity of up to 660 A, the EPIC® POWERLOCK is one of the most powerful single-pole connectors in its segment. This system was recently redesigned by LAPP. The round connector is now available in the new POWERLOCK version, which significantly simplifies assembly, assembly, and unlocking.

The core feature is the newly developed mechanism with a fully integrated slider, which allows release without the need for special tools. This makes handling easier and prevents improper disconnection of the plug connection.

The contacts inside have also been redesigned: instead of different variants – depending on the conductor cross-section – the new POWERLOCK uses a single cone-shaped axial screw contact that automatically fans out the strands when inserted. This allows diameters from 35 to 240 mm² to be reliably connected. The combination of mechanical and color coding minimises the risk of incorrect connections and enables clear assignment of the conductors.

With its high current-carrying capacity, IP-protected design, and reliable locking mechanism, EPIC® POWERLOCK is particularly suitable for industrial distribution systems, test benches, and mobile power supply solutions.

Resilient solutions for powerful motors.
LAPP presents a circular connector with the EPIC® M23 Power Quickflex, that combines high electrical resilience with an innovative tool-free locking system. This connector sets new standards in connection technology for servo motors, automation technology, and demanding industrial applications.

Thanks to integrated Quickflex technology, the EPIC® M23 Power offers maximum flexibility. Variable pole configurations and modular interchangeable inserts enable easy adaptation to different power requirements and device configurations. This not only facilitates quick conversion in the field, but also offers new possibilities in system planning – especially for applications that require high current carrying capacity in limited space. The robust design of the connector, combined with its high vibration and temperature resistance, makes it ideal for drive and automation solutions, robotics systems, and mobile machines.

For lightning-fast communication
With the new EPIC® ClickConnect technology, LAPP offers a compelling solution for the increasing demands and accelerated installation and maintenance processes in industrial production. The push-pull solution for M12 patch cords and cord sets relies on a completely tool-free locking system and opens up a new dimension in efficiency, safety, and reliability for users in automation, mechanical engineering, and industrial communication.

The focus is on tool-free locking based on a mechanical locking mechanism. The connection locks automatically with a simple push-fit. The resulting haptic and acoustic feedback ensures a reproducibly secure connection. Unlocking is just as easy by pulling on the integrated release element. The system thus significantly reduces installation times and is optimised for use in compact installation environments where conventional screw or clamping mechanisms are only accessible to a limited extent.

Thanks to its ease of use and minimised susceptibility to errors, EPIC® ClickConnect is particularly suitable for applications where maintenance intervals are short and production downtimes are critical.

Multi-protocol connectivity at the field level.

LAPP is launching its own remote I/O devices, the UNITRONIC® ACCESS product range, now for the first time. They expand the existing Industrial Communication offering of the global market leader for integrated solutions and brand products in the field of cable and connection technology and offer new possibilities for decentralised sensor-actuator communication. All this is achieved without time-consuming cabling or complex integration. But why is decentralisation becoming increasingly important in factory automation and what makes LAPP’s solution so special?

Rob van der Sluis, Head of Product & Business Development Cluster West, explains. IO-Link is playing an increasingly important role in industrial automation. 

• What makes this communication standard so attractive?

“IO-Link is a communication standard that is increasingly replacing classic digital and analogue signal transmission in many areas. IO-Link transmits structured data up to 32 bytes per communication cycle. This enables diagnostic functions, recording process values and remote control by using inexpensive unshielded standard cables. IO-Link is therefore the ideal solution for the field level, the lowest level of the automation pyramid.”

• LAPP is a specialist in connection technology but is now offering for the first time active components. Why this step?

“With the new UNITRONIC® ACCESS remote I/O components, i.e. the IO-Link masters and hubs, we are now bringing active components to the field level. This means we now can offer from a single source to our customers the complete infrastructure for industrial- e networks: active and passive components including end-to-end connectivity from the sensor to the controller or even to the cloud.”

• What distinguishes LAPP’s remote I/O devices from others on the market?

“The key difference lies in their versatility: our UNITRONIC® ACCESS devices are available as multi-protocol and single-protocol versions. The multi-protocol devices support five common Industrial Ethernet protocols (PROFINET, Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, Modbus TCP, CC-Link IE) as well as four IoT protocols such as OPC UA, MQTT, REST API and CoAP. In addition, robust metal housings and a wide temperature range from -40 to +70°C ensure reliability under harsh conditions.”

• What advantages do remote I/O devices offer for machine and plant engineering?

“Decentralisation, flexibility and cost savings. In many applications, such as intralogistics, it is inefficient to wire each sensor individually in the control cabinet. Thanks to protection classes IP67 and IP69K, our UNITRONIC® ACCESS modules can be installed directly in the plant. This saves space, significantly reduces wiring effort and thus lowers the susceptibility to errors. Another advantage is the simple plug-and-play commissioning and automatic parameterisation when replacing a sensor. This not only reduces installation costs, but also maintenance costs.”

• And what developments can we expect from LAPP in the future?

“Our remote I/O devices are not a one-off project, but part of a comprehensive strategy. We are continuously working to expand our portfolio, for example with complementary diagnostic and visualization solutions. This can be experienced live in our LAPP Exploration Centre in Stuttgart (D).”

Products for factory automation, intralogistics and renewable energies.

With the increasing digitalisation of warehouse and conveyor processes and the use of AI, there is a growing demand for reliable and high-performance products and solutions. This is one reason why LAPP is expanding its already extensive intralogistics product portfolio with new variants in line with customer requirements, with the aim of ensuring more efficient and future-proof material flows.

The new products include, for example, the UNITRONIC® BUS ASI for fixed installation and the UNITRONIC® BUS ASI FD for continuous use. Both data cables are designed for fieldbus communication via AS-Interface. LAPP customers can choose between different sheath materials. With long-distance variants and UL versions, the connection specialist offers practical solutions for a wide range of application requirements. The cables are also available in various jacket colours in accordance with international specifications – and now also in grey, specifically for the transmission of auxiliary power with 48 volts DC.

Fibre optic cables for solar and wind farms.
With its HITRONIC® fibre optic cables, LAPP has been offering cables suitable for the transmission of large amounts of data for many years – copper-free and interference-free, tap-proof and at almost the speed of light. Now, with the HITRONIC® BxK and the HITRONIC® BTxK, the connection solutions expert is launching two new outdoor fibre optic cables with single-mode fibres in accordance with ITUT G.657.A1, which enable simple and uncomplicated installation even in confined spaces. The fibres can even cope with tight bends without any loss of signal. Both versions are suitable for use in WAN networks, extremely versatile and can be laid directly in the ground. They are therefore ideal for solar and wind farms.

The HITRONIC® BxK with halogen-free outer sheath does not generate any electromagnetic interference thanks to its metal-free materials. It is suitable for permanent installation in pipes and closed installation ducts as well as for medium mechanical stress. The HITRONIC® BTxK, which is also halogen-free, has very high tensile strength thanks to its reinforced glass yarns and can withstand very high mechanical loads. Its resistant outer sheath makes it robust during installation and operation and provides additional protection against water ingress in the longitudinal direction after mechanical damage. It is also suitable for open installation on cable trays.

The EPIC® brand® covers all industrial connectors manufactured by LAPP. Last year, the company reorganised its entire range, redesigned its connectors and launched numerous new products. LAPP is now continuing this development with a whole range of new products and product enhancements: at the Hannover Messe 2025, the company presented the EPIC® M23 A3 Quickflex, the pioneer of a new generation of connectors. New: The M23 motor connector, which can be used directly on the servo motor, is now also available with a 6- or 9-pin plug configuration. LAPP also offers a chromated version for subsequent painting in the desired colour.

The EPIC® POWERLOCK connectors are suitable for generators and electric motors. But even when it comes to transmitting high currents for mobile applications, single-pole circular connectors are a must. They are used, for example, in shipping and for cabling live events. Thanks to their integrated release function, they can be quickly connected and disconnected without the need for special tools. The single-pole circular connector is available in four different sizes and with three connection types, making it extremely versatile. It can be screwed and crimped and is now also available with axial screw clamping technology.

Strategic acquisition in Latin America.

The Brazilian connectivity specialist Eurocabos Materiais Elétricos Ltda., based in São Paulo has been taken over by the German owned Lapp Group. On July 1, 2025, LAPP acquired 100 percent of the company shares. With this merger, the company grows its footprint in the strategically important Latin American markets.

With its second strategic acquisition in just a few weeks*, the Lapp Group continues to grow its global presence. Beginning of June, the company had announced the integration of Chinese connectors specialist Cableforce Electronics. Now, the globally leading supplier of integrated solutions and branded products in the field of cable and connection technology expands in Latin America’s largest economy. Lapp also has locations in Britail and in Wexford in Ireland.

Matthias Lapp, CEO LAPP Group, says: “LAPP is committed to global growth: We want to supply our high-quality connectivity solutions to customers all over the world. Latin America in general and Brazil specifically are connectivity markets of the future. The economic potential is significant. I see great chances for LAPP.”

Through the acquisition, LAPP further strengthens its ability to serve these markets: “Complementary products, reliable customer relationships, and a strong sales team: EUROCABOS brings a lot to the table and is a great fit for LAPP. Going forward, the two companies will be merged under the LAPP Brazil umbrella. I am very happy that the acquisition is now complete, and we will be able to serve our Brazilian customers with an even broader portfolio”, says Matthias Lapp.

EUROCABOS currently employs over 30 people. Both companies have agreed not to disclose the financial details of the transaction.

Strategic Acquisition strengthens connections in the east.

The LAPP Group has acquired Cableforce Electronics Co. Limited, with effect from June 1, 2025. By joining forces with the Chinese circular connectors specialist based in Southern China, LAPP aims to expands its global market presence and manufacturing footprint for industrial connectors.

“In the past ten years, Cableforce has built up an impressive market position, portfolio, and engineering competence in circular connectors," says Matthias Lapp: “These unique capabilities make them a great addition to our industrial connectors offering – benefitting our customers worldwide. Through this merger, we will leverage Cableforce on a global scale – by making them a part of LAPP’s network and our team of more than 5.700 committed employees around the world.”

LAPP is continuing to grow its manufacturing capabilities and market presence in the field of industrial connectors. Founded in 2015, Cableforce Electronics Co., Limited specialises in the field of circular connectors and has been a partner of LAPP since its early days. Now, the company based in Dongguan-City near Shenzhen is a 100 percent subsidiary of LAPP Group.

With its LAPP China headquarters in Shanghai since 2003 and two production plants opened in 2012 and 2023, the German family-owned company has been active in China for more than two decades. Matthias Lapp continues: “China is one of our most important growth markets, and we are determined to further expand our presence: Following our local for local strategy, we are continuously investing into our R&D competencies, manufacturing capabilities and technical sales network in China and the Asia-Pacific region.”

Cableforce currently employs over 100 people.
