Excellent laser.

The PRONTO-250-EZ laser power meter from Gentec-EO was honored with the Silver Laser Focus World Innovators Award at SPIE Photonics West 2026. Each year, the jury presents this prestigious award to recognize particularly practical and forward-looking new developments in laser technology.

The PRONTO-250-EZ features a novel, flat EZ absorber. Using nanotechnology, Gentec-EO has developed a surface that is significantly easier to clean and considerably reduces the risk of contamination-related damage. The new absorber layer is a refinement and improvement of the H-coating used in the previous PRONTO-250-Flex model. It can withstand even higher power densities, which makes the PRONTO-250-EZ the ideal solution for industrial, medical, and research applications.

The robust laser power meter is extremely versatile: it measures laser powers from 0.5 W to 250 W in the UV (248 nm) to near-infrared (2.5 µm) spectral range. An optional additional calibration is available for the CO₂ wavelength of 10.6 µm.

Laser power meter with calibration.

The PRONTO-250-FLEX laser power meter from GENTEC-EO offers flexible calibration options to ensure that customers only pay for the functions they actually use. The compact, handy device is exclusively distributed by Laser Components in Europe and is ideal for mobile use during maintenance and repair work.

Three calibration options are available:
  • Basic broadband calibration “Y”: from UV to the NIR range (248 nm to 2.5 µm).
  • Additional calibration “C”: for CO2 lasers (10.6 µm).
  • Additional calibration “E”: for single-shot energy measurements with ± 5% accuracy.

The calibrations of the PRONTO-250-FLEX are metrologically traceable to NIST at 1064 nm and optionally at 10.6 µm. The same applies to the wavelength correction. It is therefore ensured that all measurement results comply with the international standards defined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

One of the key reasons for the success of the PRONTO 250 series is its intuitive touchscreen interface and wide measuring range (0.5 W - 250 W). If desired, the measurement data can be saved on the device and transferred to a computer over a USB interface for evaluation and storage.

Precise individual pulse measurement.

Pulsed lasers can be analyzed with pulse precision even at high repetition rates using Gentec-EO’s QE12HR and QE25HR product series pyroelectric energy detectors,. The different models are based on the requirements of standard laser specifications and applications:
  • The MB version supports repetition rates of up to 1 kHz and is equipped with a robust broadband absorber.
  • Models with a QED attenuator are also suitable for high energy and power densities. For high repetition rates of up to 10 kHz, models with a metallic absorber are available.
Until recently, it has not been possible to measure the energy of individual pulses in fast pulsed lasers. This energy was only calculated from the average power. Now, even the smallest deviations such as weaker or missing pulses can be detected. This offers advantages in development and during operation, for example when it comes to assessing the reliability of pulsed lasers. In industrial lasers, corrective measures can be initiated during operation before an error affects the performance of the entire system.

Sensor for laser output.

The new HP60A-15KW-GD power meter from Gentec-EO, through Laser Components,  is designed for the high intensities of powerful lasers with comparatively small beam diameters (> 50 mm). With a damage threshold of 10 kW/cm², it withstands continuous output powers of up to 15 kW. A gold cone reflector directs the incoming light to the sides of the aperture to spread the intensity of the beam effectively over a larger area. The latter is coated with a high threshold absorber developed by the manufacturer. Since the light is deflected into the interior of the water-cooled detector, there are considerably fewer back reflections than in conventional surface absorbers. This allows the device to be easily integrated into compact optical setups.

The HP60A-15KW-GD is equipped with an integrated USB interface for direct operation on a Windows PC, as well as with the "intelligent" DB15 plug for connection to the manufacturer’s display devices. Another version features an integrated wireless module (BLU) to display the measurement results on a free app for iOS and Android mobile devices. The low-energy Bluetooth protocol used in this case offers a range of up to 30 meters and can also be used reliably in industrial environments

Repair of thermal power detectors.

Gentec-EO has appointed Laser Components as an authorized repair center for their measuring instruments. This strengthens the company's position as the main European support partner for the Canadian manufacturer.

Since 2004, the family-owned company from Olching (D) has been operating one of the world's three Gentec-EO calibration centers for laser and power measurement devices and has established itself as a Europe-wide technical support partner.

Minor maintenance work had already been carried out as part of this calibration and adjustment service. Now its capability has been expanded. In the future, defective power detectors can be repaired directly in Germany. Employees qualified by the manufacturer have access to an extensive stock of original spare parts.
