The centrepiece of the new camera is a chip from Ambarella, already known from its sister model, the IDS NXT malibu. It enables compressed video streams in full 5 MP sensor resolution (H.264, MJPEG) with over 25 frames per second. The output takes place directly on the desired end device via RTSP protocol - without the diversions via an additional PC for analysis or visualisation. This makes the camera ideal for applications that require live images including AI-based overlays.
Thanks to the integrated ISP (Image Signal Processor), users also benefit from automatic features, for example for brightness, lens distortion and colour correction. Together with the light-sensitive onsemi AR0521 sensor, this ensures excellent image quality even in difficult lighting conditions.
"With IDS NXT oslo, we are launching a versatile AI camera that not only analyses in real time, but also enables direct streaming and recording. The robust IP69K housing including M12 connectors ensures reliable operation in the most demanding industrial or agricultural environments," explains Patrick Schick - Product Owner 3D & Vision Software at IDS.
IDS NXT oslo as part of the IDS NXT complete AI system, also offers perfectly matching components - from hardware to software. Users do not need any expert knowledge of deep learning, image processing or programming. The model is now available in series production.
