NTC thermistor designed for rapid response.

A new NTC thermistor aimed at mid-range temperature measurement where high accuracy and fast response times are critical has been launched by Variohm Eurosensor. The competitively priced ENTC-MTP-65-10k3977-02 features a resistance tolerance of ± 0.2°C over a zero to 70°C temperature range that will suit many areas of medical, industrial, and environmental control and monitoring.
The thermistor’s 1.1 mm diameter x 5 mm long tube design, encapsulated in black STYCAST 2850FT thermally conductive epoxy, provides maximum moisture protection and excellent thermal transfer for a response time of 0.5s in liquids - and its diminutive tip size allows straightforward integration in measurement instruments and equipment.

With a 10 kΩ no-load resistance at +25°C the ENTC-MTP-65-10k3977-02 has a full operating range of -40 °C to +125 °C and a Beta Value 25/85 constant of 3977K ± 1%. Further reinforcing its application durability, the thermistor has 60 mm long PVDF insulated 30 AWG silver plated copper leadwires that can be optionally specified to suit customer requirements. A datasheet with a resistance vs. temperature table and full specifications is available for download from the Variohm EuroSensor website.

The ENTC-MTP-65-10k3977-02 is part of an expanding range of temperature sensing components manufactured by Variohm EuroSensor. Other types of temperature devices available include specialist temperature probes adapted as components such as ring terminals, hex bolts, and other tubular probes for direct mounting on customers equipment. The comprehensive range also includes temperature transducers, and space qualified thermistors, temperature switches, thermocouples, infrared sensors and more.

Thermistors for tight tolerance instrumentation.

Building upon its growing range of NTC thermistors, Variohm EuroSensor has launched a new specialist 10k variant aimed at mid-range temperature sensing tasks for tight tolerance instrumentation in non-condensing moisture environments. The ENTC-EI-10k9777-02 thermistor is based on a Stycast epoxy encapsulated core with Kynar insulation for maximum durability across a -40° C to 125° C temperature range.

Its high sensitivity specification of 10kOhm at 25°C and +/- 0.2°C resistance tolerance over 0°C to 70°C delivers precision sensing for HVAC, power and utilities equipment, renewables, industrial and laboratory instruments, and many other areas.

The ENTC-EI-10k9777-02 thermistor has a fast time constant value of 1.5 seconds in liquids and other notable specifications include a Beta Value 25/85 constant of 3976K +/- 0.5%. and a dissipation factor in still air of around 2 mW/°C. Measuring just 2.4 mm at its widest point and with 250 mm long white Kynar insulated silver-plated copper leads (28 AWG), straightforward installation is guaranteed.

The expanding ENTC series also includes other hermetically sealed, glass or epoxy encapsulated NTC thermistors. With a wide choice of optimal measurement temperature ranges, operating temperatures, tolerances, and time constants etc. application areas include but are not restricted to automotive, refrigeration, industrial instrumentation, medical equipment and more.

Medical thermister.

Expanding its comprehensive range of temperature sensors, Variohm EuroSensor has developed a new NTC thermistor especially designed for medical equipment use and particularly aimed at sensing small temperature changes in body and ambient medical area temperatures.

With its high resistance design (2.25kOhm @25 °C), the ENTC-EB-2.2k3977-005 offers maximum sensitivity and a fast response time in the temperature range of 32 °C to 42 °C where its resistance tolerance of +/-0.05 °C is well suited to high specification instrumentation and where temperature sensing, control and compensation are critical factors.

The new thermistor is encapsulated in a brown Stycast thermally conductive epoxy coating and electrical interfacing is via two 76 mm, 32 AWG solid Alloy 180 leads. Its miniature form, measuring just 2.4 mm at the tip, will suit straightforward integration into many types of medical probes and in pharma and medical equipment. The sensor has a full operating temperature range of -40 °C to 125 °C.

New high-tolerance thermistor.

Variohm EuroSensor has launched a new polyimide sleeved, high-tolerance NTC thermistor aimed at high-sensitivity medical instrumentation and industrial temperature measurement applications. Expanding its ENTC thermistor range, the new ENTC-MP-10k3977-01 is specifically designed for precision sensing of small mid-range temperature changes in non-condensing moisture environment temperature sensing tasks.

The new thermistor is based on the durable epoxy bead EB series encapsulated sensors. Its 1.27mm diameter by 5 mm long polyimide sleeve offers high temperature stability, robust mechanical properties, and superior chemical resistance and is a widely used material in applications where durability is an important requirement. With a time constant of 15 seconds in still air the thermistor’s resistance at +25°C equates to 10 kΩ whilst a 25/85 Beta value constant of 3977K ± with a 0.5% accuracy suits fine precision temperature measurement supported with an interchangeability of ±0.1°C over a range of 0 to 70°C. An operating temperature range of -40°C to +90°C is specified. The ENTC-MP is supplied with insulated leads – approximately 150 mm long with 2 x 30 AWG solid copper wires with Kynar insulation. Custom versions can be supplied on request.

The recently launched ENTC range covers high-sensitivity NTC thermistors in a choice of hermetically sealed glass or epoxy encapsulation. The range offers a flexible choice of operating temperature, precision, and time constant performance for applications from engine temperature controls to refrigeration, industrial instrumentation, and medical equipment.
