Microswitch has integrated LED.

Microprecision Electronics has introduced its MP100/200 series microswitches with an optional integrated LED indicator light.

These microswitches with integrated LED status indicator have been designed for use at 24V in industrial automation applications. They allow a simple, visual control of the switching function, which can be very cumbersome to perform, in particular when the switch is mounted far away from the connected controller. Also, a broken cable will be instantly recognisable. In addition, the LED facilitates the intuitive calibration and adjustment during installation of the switching point in the field. For simple connection to a sensor box the switch will typically be provided with a 4-pin M12 cable connector interface. But other interface options like built-in M8 connector or a simple PVC cable are also available.

The LED can either be wired to indicate the NC or the NO operation. A bicolour LED can even indicate a changeover operation. The electrical interface is either made up as a PNP or NPN circuit.

The entire range of modular actuators for the MP100/200 series is compatible with the new LED indicator option. These actuators include telescopic actuators of different lengths, with and without rollers, different lever types with direct and/or indirect action, tilting rollers, wire levers and floater levers are also available.

The standard MP200 series switches are sealed up to IP68, this qualifies them for outdoor applications, for use under spray water and in full immersion (up to 20 meters depth). They also offer the possibility of switching two fully separate circuits (dual break). They are certified according to UL/EN standards for up to 15 A and suitable for temperatures up to 130°C (266°F). Microprecision also develops and implements custom solutions already for small production volumes.

LED indicators for thick panels.

Microprecision Electronics has introduced a new long body nickel-plated panel mount LED. The housing is designed to easily fit panel thicknesses of up to 9.0mm even with additional washer. The front mounted prominent and recessed bezel shaped forms come with termination options leads or Faston style quick connects. The fully potted leads version with additional gasket offers front and backside IP67 sealing for water resistance and outdoor use.

Long Body LEDThe rugged vibration and water resistant LED indicators are well suited for a number of applications, including industrial control panels, transportation dashboards, gaming/vending machines and aircraft/military instrumentation. The products are US made and can be modified to fit custom needs for special wires, connectors or marking.

All versions are available in a broad range of colors and intensities, including daylight readable red, yellow, green, orange as well as bicolor, blue, white, flashing, infrared and night vision compatible LEDs. They can be supplied with an additional built in resistor for voltages up to 48VDC.

M12 connectors for switches!

Microprecision Electronics SA is extending the possibilities of its MP700 series of sealed limit switches in order to facilitate the connection of limit switches as sensing devices to industrial bus systems.

The switches are now available with an M12 connector integrated directly into the housing, thus making for easy and flexible interfacing to a bus interconnect box. This feature allows for a simple and detachable cable connection as an alternative to the common potted cable solution. Standard M12 connection cables are broadly available.

M12This option is implemented for 30mm and 35mm housing sizes which reflects the 20mm “EN” and 25mm “US” mounting style. Metal housing for rugged outdoor applications as well as plastic housing for indoor use are both offering this new feature.

A five-pin version is used in the MP740/60 metallic cases and a four-pin for the MP730/750 plastic cases. All cases are IP67 sealed. The electrical rating is adapted to the power specification of M12 connectors for 4 A up to 120VAC and 3A for 240 VAC.

The MP700 limit switches come with a wide selection of actuator types consisting of pin and roller plungers, roller levers and many others. The electrical switching module is a positive opening circuit with either slow- action or snap-action movements for a broad range of industrial applications. The products fulfil the EN 60947-5-1 standards and are also UL approved.

Light force switch for pressure applications.

Numerous process control applications depend on pressure switches to operate reliably. To convert a physical pressure differential into an electrical signal a mechanical switch inside is used.

Microprecision Electronics SA is now offering a new variation of its MP500 sealed subminiature micro switch for this type of application. Compared to the standard version with an actuating force of max 2.5N, the new MP520 has a lower actuating force of max 1 N. The differential force is only about 0.2 N. The differential travel of less than 0.05mm and a fast change over time of 5 ms is another important parameter for process applications.

The Series MP500 is UL61058 and EN61058 approved for a power rating of 250 AC/ 5A with an operating temperature between -40°C and 105°C. Termination options are PCB pins, solder lugs or cable. To adapt to special applications, the actuators can be custom designed.
