Modified enclosures.

When a standard enclosure doesn’t meet the requirements of a new design, specialist distributor JPR Electronics can provide bespoke modified enclosure solutions from Hammond Manufacturing. Hammond can modify a wide range of their enclosures to meet customer’s exact requirements providing a cost effective, from-the-factory quality solution.

Paul Raynor, Director of JPR Electronics, comments, “Hammond Manufacturing has been operating for over one-hundred years and has an excellent reputation for high quality products and great customer service. Their bespoke enclosure service offers our customers the twin benefits of quality and cost.”

The company provides customers with technical and design support to ensure the best-fit enclosure is provided. Custom manufacturing is carried out in Hammond’s own factories in Europe and finished enclosures are sprayed with ultra-durable powder paint which can be color matched to customer specifications ensuring a factory quality paint finish every time.

This bespoke service is a very competitive solution compared to the true costs of customers modifying enclosures themselves. Taking into account preparation time, layout, drilling, tapping, cutting, paint touch up, assembly and the extra product handling a Hammond bespoke enclosure from JPR offers great value and is delivered ready to load up.

Typical customer modifications include special paint colors, silk screening, non-standard sizes, alternative material construction, cutouts, tapped holes and pre-installed accessories.

Ergonomic handheld enclosure family.

JPR Electronics can supply the  new IP65 sealed version of the stylish, ergonomically designed, 1553 handheld enclosure family from Hammond Electronics.  The soft-sided 1553W enclosures are intended for housing electronic products that will be used in environments where dust and water is likely to be present.

Typical applications include instrument or mobile data enclosures requiring a keypad and display, particularly when repetitive assembly and disassembly are required.

The 1553W has an ergonometric curved shape that fits comfortably into the hand and the top cover is recessed to allow a membrane keypad to be flush mounted. An integral end panel forms part of the top cover providing an easy to machine area for cable entry, switches and indicators. PCB standoffs are provided in the top and base for mounting

The 1553W enclosure features a one piece silicone gasket and a tongue and groove construction moulded into the top and bottom halves to meet IP65 requirements. The top and base are assembled with four screws that locate into brass inserts in the top moulding, facilitating repeated access to the housed electronics. The fixing positions are outside the gasket, ensuring the integrity of the seal.
Available in three sizes, 117 x 79 x 25mm, 117 x 79 x 32mm and 147 x 90 x 25mm, all models are moulded in UL94-V0 flame retardant ABS in RAL 7035 light grey or RAL 9011 black, both over-moulded with RAL 7012 grey soft side grips.

To reduce time to market and modification costs, all 1553W enclosures are available factory modified with machining and silk screening to the end customers’ requirements.
