Ultra-compact modules enable reliable positioning.

Volume shipments of the recently announced mosaic-G5 modules have been initiated by Septentrio. Measuring only 23 mm by 16 mm and weighing as little as 2.2 grams mosaic-G5 enables reliable positioning without performance compromises for commercial UAVs, robots, GIS devices and many other size and power-constrained industrial applications. Advanced GNSS technology from Septentrio provides enhanced positioning availability even in challenging environments where GNSS signals are degraded or obstructed.

“We have had a lot of interest in the mosaic-G5 module series since its announcement earlier this year. After successful beta testing with various customers, I am pleased to say that we have now started shipping volume orders,” commented François Freulon, Director of Product Management at Septentrio.

The broad choice of receiver modules within the extended mosaic family empowers users to choose the right balance of performance and cost that best suits their needs. The quad-band mosaic-G5 P3 and the triple band heading module mosaic-G5 P3H bring positioning availability in challenging environments and are tailored for applications such as mapping or light show drones. The new modules complement the mosaic product line, where the renowned mosaic-X5 receiver remains as the benchmark for world-leading GNSS open signal anti-jamming and anti-spoofing resilience in a small form factor.

For easy testing and prototyping, the mosaic-go G5 evaluation kit can now be purchased via the Septentrio webshop. It offers direct autopilot connections, while the free RxTools user interface assists with the setup and evaluation process.

The mosaic-go G5 evaluation kit enables easy testing and prototyping of the mosaic-G5 P3 and P3H modules.

Resilience to jamming and spoofing.

Septentrio is strengthening its market reach for high precision GNSS modules by signing a distribution partnership with CompoTEK for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. With over a decade of experience as a distributor of modules and semiconductors, CompoTEK support its customers during the purchasing and sourcing process, works closely with them during the design-in phase, and also offers long-term product support.

“We are excited about our new partnership with CompoTEK, a company with long-term experience and knowledge of the high-accuracy positioning technology and market. We are extending our existing sales and application engineering channels, with a goal of complete coverage of US, Europe, Asia and beyond as well as efficient local support,” commented Jan Reisen, sales manager at Septentrio.

The mosaic™ high-accuracy RTK module makes use of all available GNSS constellations and signals for maximum positioning availability even in challenging environments. Its small form factor and low power consumption makes it ideal for high volume applications and assembly lines. The built-in AIM+ Advanced Interference Mitigation technology ensures resilience to GNSS jamming and spoofing*, making mosaic™ a reliable positioning component in any robotic, drone or machine control system.

* Jamming & Spoofing
Jamming is a form of radio interference which occurs when GPS frequency is overpowered by other radio waves, resulting in accuracy degradation or event total loss of position.
Spoofing is a malicious form of radio interference, where misleading signals are sent into the receiver, resulting in faulty coordinates, which lead the target away from its predefined track.

Positioning and orientation by Satellite!

By expanding their GNSS/INS (Inertial Navigation System) product family, Septentrio starts offering more application-specific positioning and orientation solutions.

The AsteRx-i3 product family brings to market an array of next-generation receivers from plug-and-play navigation solutions to feature-rich receivers with raw measurement access. OEM boards are available for rapid integration as well as ruggedized receivers enclosed in a waterproof IP68 housing. Such product variety accommodates specific needs of various applications which require high accuracy positioning together with 3D orientation, heading, pitch and roll angles.

“Using our off-the-shelf GNSS/INS systems allows our customers to focus their efforts on core technology and to reduce their products’ time-to-market,” commented Danilo Sabbatini, Product Manager at Septentrio. “With this new generation of products, we aim to satisfy specific needs of various customers. Instead of releasing a single general-purpose product, we bring several dedicated solutions for fastest and easiest integration into systems that require robotic navigation or sensor fusion.”

AsteRx-i3 Pro+ receivers support either single or dual antenna modes. The single antenna mode is ideal for compact and light-weight configurations. The dual antenna mode reduces the need for movement during IMU initialization, allowing fully informed navigation from mission start.

The AsteRx-i3 product line includes a total of 5 new GNSS/INS receivers. The Pro receivers offer high accuracy positioning with 3D orientation and dead-reckoning functionality for fastest and easiest plug-and-play integrations. Meanwhile, the Pro+ are the most versatile receivers providing integrated positioning and orientation along with raw measurements, in single or dual antenna configurations, ideal for applications with sensor fusion. One of the receivers offers an off-board IMU sensor, which can be mounted exactly at the alignment point-of-interest.
