Demonstrating a greater perspective.

Technology manufacturer welcome visitors to view their extensive range of low voltage assemblies

Boulting Technology has built a new demonstration area for its extensive range of low voltage switchboards. Based at their Warrington (GB) site, the new area is an extension to its existing workshop.
Created to demonstrate its extensive range of low voltage assemblies and switchboards, both existing and potential clients of Boulting Technology can now view the extensive range of equipment that the company supplies. The new equipment ranges from small 400Amp distribution boards to 6300Amp, up to 100kA fault rated, low voltage switchboards.

The new demonstration area has been designed to offer visitors a full view of the inside of the switchboards with the demonstration assemblies having their outer panels replaced with Perspex. This allows the client to gain an insight into the design of the assembly to comply with the BS EN 61439 standard and also the assembly’s innovative non forced heat dissipation capability.

“Initially, these switchboards were part of a testing process we conducted in collaboration with ABB,” explained Ian McWha, key account manager at Boulting Technology. “Many of our existing customers are unaware of the work we do beyond a standard MCC, so the ability to view the Boulting Power Centre range of low voltage switchboards showcases our broad spectrum of products manufactured here in the U.K.

“It’s beneficial for customers to be able to spend time in the demonstration area to gain valuable knowledge of the switchboards. Knowledge that would be difficult to gain from drawings and the outside view of the assembly. So far, visitors have been very impressed with the area, specifically with the attention to detail that is involved in the copper busbars and supports and the heat dissipation techniques.”

Since opening in September 2015, the demonstration area has welcomed a number of existing and potential customers to view the low voltage switchboards and assemblies. Visits can be arranged by contacting the Boulting Technology team.

Diagnostics demoday!

ProfiBus Ireland held a one day demo in two sessions  on diagnosing ProfiBus networks using Procentec products.  The demo was on portable diagnostic tool Profitrace and continuous monitoring tool Combricks. Over 25 participants from industry participated on the day.
The session on Profitrace covered the basics of ProfiBus technology followed by the demo of using Profitrace, to identify issues such as missing or additional terminations, shorted or broken lines. Training kits were used to provide the participants with hands on sessions.

Second part of the demo concentrated on continuous monitoring using Combricks. A newly built demo wall consisting of ProfiBus DP, ProfiBus PA, and ProfiNet was used to highlight the operation of Combricks.  The integration of a number of different communications systems such as ProfiBus DP, ProfiBus PA, and ProfiNet was shown using Combrick’s backplane technology. Also included in the demo wall was the use of Fiber optic transmission and use of Profiswitch X5 to enable different transmission speeds on the same ProfiBus network. The participants had a opportunity to connect remotely to Combrick and see the electrical waveforms of devices, bar graphs, Email notification of faults, amongst others.

Honeywell showcase site in Houston!

Honeywell has a new, interactive demonstration center in Houston to give its industrial customers a glimpse into the future of managing their manufacturing operations.

The Experion® Orion Console
The new Customer Experience Center (CEC) – located at Honeywell Process Solutions’ global headquarters at 1250 W. Sam Houston Parkway S. – brings to life many of the newest, high-tech innovations for customers in the oil and gas, refining, petrochemicals, mining, power generation, pulp and paper, and other industries. The center includes, for example, a plant control room outfitted with Honeywell’s Experion® Process Knowledge System (PKS) Orion Console. The console is a completely new interface that uses the integration of larger screens, touchscreen displays, mobile device capabilities and other technologies to better assist plant operators who are charged with running some of the world’s most critical and complex manufacturing facilities.

The $5 million CEC will be a destination showcase site for Honeywell’s customers from process industries throughout the world.

“There’s only so much someone can learn about a new technology by talking about it. The goal of the new Customer Experience Center is to physically show our customers what these systems look like and how they can help them solve their most daunting manufacturing challenges,” said Olivier Biebuyck, global vice president of marketing and strategy, Honeywell Process Solutions. “Even seeing the setup in a smaller scale like this gives our customers a much better idea for how the technology works to improve the safety, reliability and efficiency of their plants.”

Other CEC highlights include field instrument technologies – such as transmitters used to monitor pipelines – that have been transformed in recent years into smart devices that deliver more-relevant information to operators in the control room, as well as to mobile operators. The center also demonstrates how Honeywell safety, physical and cyber security systems can be fully integrated together within facilities to achieve the highest level of asset protection, and features advanced software that helps manufacturers design their processes, train their operators and optimize daily operations.

London demo facility

Rittal has opened its newly revamped London demonstration facility, strategically placed on the outskirts of London (GB). The facility actively demonstrates all the key elements of Data Centre infrastructure design, including, mechanical constructions, power deployment, cooling topology and remote monitoring and security.

David Lee, their IT sales director comments “We have had so many requests from our customers wanting to see our products in a live working situation and we are proud to deliver what they want. This facility is a significant investment for Rittal but we think it is worth it, just to see our products in action”

Incorporating the latest data centre topology, the demonstration facility includes high density water cooling, aisle containment, advance power distribution, wireless monitoring, electronic security and networking and server enclosures.

Rittal is one of the largest and most widely known manufacturers of enclosures and accessories for the electrical, electronic and datacommunications industries throughout the world. The Enclosure Systems have full compatibility and integration capability with Rittal’s Power Distribution components and Thermal Management Systems
