Major investment in research hub led by Australian government to improve sustainability and reduce emissions.

The Australian Research Council’s (ARC) Research Hub for Resilient and Intelligent Infrastructure Systems (RIIS) has been joined by Emerson as an Industry Partner, working with the Centre for Spatial Data Infrastructures and Land Administration (CSDILA) at the University of Melbourne and the University of New South Wales.

Emerson will donate $2 million in cash, in-kind equipment, software, engineering and training support over the next five years as the RIIS Research Hub engages with industry, government and the community to develop and implement science-based policy and integrated practical solutions to the current and future challenges facing Australia’s urban, resource and energy infrastructure.

The public-private venture will integrate advances in sensor technology, connectivity, data analytics, machine learning, robotics, smart materials and reliable models to deliver resilient and adaptive infrastructure systems in sectors essential to Australia’s prosperity, including mining, gas, water and energy.

The ARC research hub adds to the more than 350 tertiary institutions worldwide that Emerson has worked closely with over the last 20 years to support automation innovation, education and training for sustainability and decarbonisation research and development.
