Test probes, clips and plugs.

Cliff Electronics manufactures test leads for a number of market-leading electrical test equipment OEMs. In addition, customers can buy a wide range of test probes, croc-clips and plugs manufactured by Cliff for use with their own test equipment or as replacements for lost or damaged items.

Cliff probes and connectors are suitable for use by design and test engineers, PAT testers, electrical contractors and electrical test and repair facilities and are available direct or from a number of major distributors throughout Europe.

John Hall, Managing Director of Cliff Electronics, comments;“We have a great deal of experience in manufacturing high quality test lead sets for many well-known brands of test meters. Supplying test plugs and probes direct to end users not only widens the market we can service but also gives test equipment users an alternative and lower cost source for replacement components.”

Straight and right-angle test plugs are available with 2mm and 4mm diameters with options including spring loaded safety shrouds and stackable models which allow multiple connections to a single socket mounted on a panel or PCB.

Their test plugs are available for low and high voltage applications and comply with EN 61010 including section 2-031 for high voltage versions. Contacts are made from brass, nickel silver and phosphor-bronze, plated with tin, nickel or gold as appropriate. Standard colours are red, black, blue, green and yellow.

The test probes and crocodile clips have a 4mm connection socket, are designed to exceed the requirements of EN 61010 section 2-031 and are intended for use with instrumentation and test and measurement equipment. All materials used are tough and durable and suitable for indoor or outdoor use. Standard colours are red and black with other colours available on special order with minimum quantity requirements. Cliff test probes can be supplied to OEMs assembled to PVC or silicone cables.

Crocodile clip connectors can be used to connect to leaded components, terminals or busbars and can be supplied with a standard shaft for touchproof connection or an extended shaft for use with unprotected plugs.

Test probes are used in a variety of applications and provide a reliable means of testing bare or loaded circuits where a number of contact points must be accessed. They are supplied ready for direct cable connection or with collet strain relief, removable tip cover or retractable tip shroud and an option of an inbuilt 1000V fuse. Various sizes of spiked or lantern tips may be specified, and versions are available meeting CAT III 600V and CAT III 1KV.
