Plant information management.

An update to Yokogawa's Exaquantum™ plant information management system (PIMS). Release R3.02 provides improved web and data analysis functions that will enhance plant operations.

About Exaquantum
Exaquantum is a plant information management system (PIMS) that is used in a wide variety of industries, including oil & gas, refining, petrochemicals, chemicals, iron and steel, non-ferrous metals, electric power, pulp and paper, foods, pharmaceuticals, and water treatment.

The large amount of data stored in a control system is an important asset that can be used by management to improve productivity, quality, and safety. Exaquantum acquires, processes, and stores control system data and provides it to applications in the manufacturing execution system (MES) domain for use in managing and analysing operations. Exaquantum provides an environment in which data can be analysed, not only from the viewpoint of plant operations and management, but also from a business perspective, facilitating the flow of information at field and management levels and making real-time management a reality.

Yokogawa will continue to utilize Exaquantum to create value with its customers and expand its solutions business.
Development Background
An ever increasing amount of plant data is being collected, stored, and analysed to understand what is happening within a plant so that appropriate operational improvements can be made, and this is resulting in a rising need for PIMSs with advanced capabilities. In response, Yokogawa has improved Exaquantum by adding new web and data analysis functions that will assist users in gaining the insights required to enhance their plant operations.

Enhancements
1. Improved web-based functionality
To improve visibility of significant plant events, users can add annotations to trend graphs that provide additional information, detailed analysis, and links to documents and web pages that can be accessed using Exaquantum/Web. These can be shared with others, including Exaquantum/Explorer users. To aid in the identification of relationships between data, Exaquantum/Web users can now make use of X-Y Plot controls to create trend graphs that can be used within Internet Explorer or Safari (tablet) browsers. These graphs can be utilized for such purposes as predicting compressor surges and analysing PID loops.

2. Windows 10
Exaquantum™ adds support for Windows 10, Microsoft’s latest operating system. 3. New data analysis functions New optional functions are available to evaluate and draw insights from the large amounts of process data, alarm and events, and other types of data collected and stored by Exaquantum PIMS. These include an ISA-18.2* and IEC 62682* compliant alarm management function, a safety management function, and a manufacturing information function.

Industry’s largest handheld, battery-operated passive intermodulation analyser #TandM

Anritsu Company has introduced three frequency options for its industry-leading PIM Master MW82119A Passive Intermodulation (PIM) high-power, battery-operated, portable PIM test analyser. The new options provide wireless field engineers and technicians with the first battery-operated handheld analyzers that can accurately conduct “top of the tower” PIM measurements in the LTE 800 MHz and UMTS 2100 MHz bands, in addition to the LTE 2600 MHz band.

The new options have been specifically developed to address the top bands planned for LTE network deployments, and can help ensure LTE networks do not suffer from lower data throughput caused by PIM interference. Coupled with the battery operation, small size, and ability to perform 40W PIM testing, the new options make the PIM Master MW82119A well suited for deploying, installing, and maintaining LTE networks using Remote Radio Heads (RRHs) at the top of the tower. The PIM Master MW82119A can also be used to measure PIM at traditional macro site installations, as well as in Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS).

The three new frequency options extend the PIM Master MW82119A family to nine analyzers. Six other models are available to address major frequency ranges, including the upper and lower 700 MHz, 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz, and 1900/2100 MHz bands. All PIM Master MW82119A analyzers incorporate Distance-to-PIM (DTP) technology, allowing tower contractors, maintenance contractors, and wireless service provider field technicians to pinpoint PIM problems, whether they are on the tower or outside the antenna system. The analysers’ ability to test at 40W allows the PIM Master MW82119A to locate faults that conventional 20W test solutions might miss, such as intermittent and power-sensitive PIM problems.

As with all Anritsu handheld test solutions, the PIM Master MW82119A is designed to withstand transportation shock, vibration, and harsh outdoor test conditions associated with cell site deployment, installation, and maintenance. Testing is simplified by the analyzer’s ability to save and recall test set ups for standardized testing, and limit lines can be set for visual and/or audible pass/fail criteria. Anritsu’s Line Sweep Tools can be used to manage PIM Master MW82119A measurements, and generate reports that combine VSWR data as well as PIM data into a unified site report. PIM measurements can be tagged with the GPS location when the analyzers are equipped with the GPS option.
