Included among fastest growing tech companies.

The environmental technology company Meteor Communications has been included in the 2026 edition of The Sunday Times 100 Tech, Britain’s fastest-growing private technology companies. Meteor Communications provides innovative environmental monitoring solutions, implementing real-time monitoring systems for critical assets across utilities, rail and government in Britain, the rest of Europe and North America. The company has experienced rapid growth in recent years by responding to the demand for technologies that are able to monitor the environment remotely and continuously.

Directors Matt Dibbs, Tim Wilson and Andrew Scott.
Real-time environmental data for parameters such as water quality, water flow and weather, along with images, are collected using Meteor’s proprietary ESNET and MRC hardware platforms, with data sent in real-time to the MeteorCloud® web platform.

ESNET water quality monitoring systems are in use by most British water utilities for applications including river monitoring under Section 82 of the Environment Act 2021. In addition, over 3,600 Meteor MRC cameras are currently in service across the water utility, government and rail sectors. For example, the Environment Agency utilises over 1,900 cameras for monitoring and managing critical flood defence structures.

Launched in 2005, MeteorCloud® is a global platform and data hub for environmental data. It is continuously developing in functionality and scale, with over 500 million data points and 25 million images processed during 2025. In addition to offering real-time display the platform has comprehensive data dissemination, visualisation, alarm handling and AI analysis tools.

Meteor also offers Water Quality as A Service (WQaAS), a concept unique to the industry on inception and now widely adopted, delivering robust, reliable water quality data. This encompasses provision of complete monitoring packages including sensors, field service, calibration at Meteor’s own laboratories and real time AI enabled data visualisation via MeteorCloud®

Meteor Communications is also expanding internationally, with monitoring systems currently operational in Canada, Germany and Switzerland. With technology leadership as a key driver in the company’s impressive growth, Meteor has ambitious plans for the future.
